2009 MTV Movie Awards

It's the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, darlings!

Cameron Diaz in a Matthew Williamson top paired with J Brand jeans and Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

She only has about twenty minutes, guys. She just dropped her dog off at the groomer's and then she has to run out to pick up her drycleaning and get her allergy prescription filled. Take your pictures now because she's a busy girl with places to be.

Cameron honey, you're on this side of your thirties and you are appearing at an event LOADED with tiny little starlets on THAT side. Put a little effort in, girl. You're looking a bit like a volunteer chaperone at a school dance.

CariDee English in Christian Siriano Spring 2009

PR IN THE HOUSE. She looks cute and the dress looks great but the shoes are ALL WRONG. Can't say we love the hair either.

Jenna Dewan in Rami Kashou

PR IN THE HOUSE, PART 2, Y'ALL. Also looks cute. Appropriately styled. She can stay.

Kristen Stewart in Yigal Azrouël Fall 2009

Don't you just want to scrub her down? Chick looks dirty all the time. It's a cute dress on the model but she is SO not working it. We're pretending we don't see the shoes. It's too painful, kittens.

Lauren Conrad in Moschino Fall 2009

That's a lot of dress, honey, and you are just not woman enough to pull it off. Did she have it altered? Because the silhouette is completely different.

LeAnn Rimes in a J. Mendel gown.

It's almost like she wandered in from another event. It's an alright dress, but it seems kind of self-consciously off-message for the night.

Leighton Meester in Emilio de la Morena Spring 2009 and Brian Atwood "Brie" purple suede booties

Love the shoes, but that dress cannot be saved. It's more like a puzzle than a dress. "See if you can get to my lady bits in 4 moves or less."

Megan Fox in Dolce & Gabbana paired with Louboutin sandals

Kind of a harsh look for her. The dress is fine and she's certainly at the stage in her life and career when she can and should be showing off the smokin' bod, but the hair and makeup are so not doing it.

Miley Cyrus in Moschino Cheap & Chic Spring 2009 collection and Louboutin shoes.

Look for me in my new movie, Hannah Montana: Teenage Cougar!

Sandra Bullock in Abaeté Fall 2009 and Azzedine Alaïa shoes

She's all, "I'm here. I put on an expensive dress and painful shoes. You happy now? Just take the goddamn pictures, alright?"

Sienna Miller in Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.

Super-cute. Everything is just right from hair to shoes.

Taraji P. Henson in Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009 Collection

Is this the new irony or something? Are we just not getting it or is it now hip for black actresses to show up at events dressed like maids? Some sort of statement? We're confused.

Vanessa Hudgens in BCBG Max Azria and Jimmy Choo sandals.

A great big pile of nothing. Blow all the kisses you want, honey. The dress is still boring. Love the shoes, though.

you're spot on, as usual.

I want every pair of shoes pictured except for K-Stewart's.

Do you think Lauren Conrad would have been able to pull off the original shape and style of the dress? It definitely had more class before 'tailoring'.

Where have you been, Cari-Dee? Such a great dress- too bad the styling didn't match.

bitchybitchybitchy

Re: Kristen Stewart-hey, when you've spent the day pining for your hot vampire squeeze, it's hard to concentrate on fashion...

Hannah Montana, TeenAge Cougar-ROTFOL!!

Caridee-bad choice of shoes. They were not, as PPS would say, fierce

Sienna Miller- IN!

What was Cameron thinking?? She usually looks appropriate for this type of award show. But here she looks like she just finished jazzersizing (sp?).

As for Kristen Stewart...it looks horrible but she was wearing those shoes b/c she twisted her ankle while filming.

I'm not the biggest Sienna fan but that dress is devine.

formerlyAnon

When Sienna Miller is pretty much the best of the lot - in mother of bride 80's dark greenish-teal sparkly mini & silver sandals, no less - it's a lackluster lot.

Miley Ray is young enough to get away with Kristen Stewart's ensemble (sorry all you mavens out there, I don't hate the shoes on the young.)

Hated Jenna Dewan's Rami dress - despite super cute shoes I thought it came off as down-market club wear.

And god bless Sandra Bullock, even though the dress didn't look great on her, In her place I would probably be thinking the words you guys put into her head.

Lauren Conrad's alterations ruined! that dress.

And somebody let Leighton Meester know that it's been years since MTV was in ANY way edgy. And that excuse gone, there's nothing to save that tacky dress.

Dunno about the D&G. Shades of House of Dereon. I'm surprised Beyonce hasn't been photographed in it yet.

Cameron, honey, look at yourself. Just no.

That's a whole lot of short, tight, and shiny.

The very last one was kind of sexy, in a bed sheet wraped around a naked body kind of way. As a dress it would have worked better in a shorter length. But the back shot was nice.

Can I just say that Cameron Diaz's top looked like the uniform shirts the gals at my chiropractor wear. Cute, comfortable, and we all wear certain colors to match the day of the week.

Dead on commentary. I could have forgiven the Leighton Meester dress until she turned around. It reminds me of that backless chain dress Rose McGowan wore about a decade back.

Lauren Conrad took her dress to Heidi Klum's tailor to get it shortened, tightened and shined up.

Megan Fox's feet are about 3 sizes too big for the shoes. Look at how far her toes are hanging over.

Love Sienna Miller's dress and look, but she wears the same look over and over. Fortunately she can get away with it.

The rest? Meh.

Seems unjust that the left-hand column are the "stars", and the right column anonymous mannequins.

Somebody teach these girls how to strike a pose!

Lauren Conrad--- that knocked-kneed, pigeon-toed Twiggy stance doesn't work for a short, big-haired Hollywood starlet.

Mylie Cyrus--- find something graceful to do with those terrifying meat hooks!

All of you-- get your moms to order you the Topsy Tail; these messy manes are all wrong with gowns, and make you look like neck-less wonders.

as always boys, another brilliant post that has me giggling at my desk!

I think if Sandra and Miley switched outfits they would have both looked much better.

Is it me or is Cameron Diaz looking about 10 years older than she should? Is it because she's such an outdoorsy type and is always in the sun? Genetics? Styling? She looks a bit haggard lately. Maybe her natural look only works as a young woman. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Oh and Miley's jewelry is ridiculous.

I love that Rami Kashou dress! I never understood Sienna Miller's appeal, but I think she looks really cute here. Olivia would have been smoking with a less severe hair style.

I mean Megan. I don't know why I want to call that girl Olivia!

I agree with the almost everything, TLO, except the Rami dress. Didn't fit around the chest and looks slutty and chip in a chip way.
Love, love PPS's dress. Shame about the fug shoes. And whoever said House of Dereon called it - not just for the D&G but for a few other ensembles too.

Re: Rimes' too-formal frock
Her bit during the show explains it. She and Chris Isaak did over-the-top classical renditions of Adam Samberg songs like "Dick in a Box" and "Jizz in My Pants." It was quite funny and the dress was perfect for the moment.

You've pretty much said it all...
but...

CariDee isn't looking too hot. Clearly she is thin, but she doesn't look model thin there. Maybe it's the hair, maybe it's the dress, maybe its her next to the super skinny model in the same dress. I don't know.

Cameron Diaz looks like she's taking her kids to school. No effort whatsoever.

I just want to slap Kristen Stewart on the back so she'll stand up straight. That and shampoo her hair.

I loooooved Leighton's dress, I can even forgive the back.

Kristen Stewart is just as annoying as Avril Lavigne, if you're going to show up looking miserable then don't show up.

Sienna Miller: Super-cute. Everything is just right from hair to shoes.Agreed, except for the tail.

Also Miley dear, is that supposed to be a pose?

I want to give Kristin Stewart a hug and ruffle her hair. It's okay, hon! We know you didn't write That Movie based on That Book. Now doll yourself up a bit. Aww.

She looks like a grumpy puppy. I can't hate anything she wears.

Lauren Conrad's dress, however, is problematic. At first glance I thought it was a very literal storm-- with the ruffles on the bottom as the clouds, and actual, honest to god lightning print. Which is an awful idea, granted, but at least I'd understand. Now I see it's a rose print with milk spilled on it and I'm just perplexed.

I like the Vanessa Hudgens dress, as SS said, it's sexy in a bedsheet sort of way. And the color's nice.

I hate booties.

And I can't get with that Rami Kashou dress now any more than I could then. Jiffy Pop, anyone?

I think it never looks good -- I don't care how great a figure the wearer has -- when the top half of the dress and the bottom of the dress are the same size.

Ick. Why is everyone wearing a tube? Is the economy too depressed for sleeves? Or hems below mid-thigh? Or combs? It looks like they all arrived in convertibles.

and the Chuck Taylors with the dress. Oh, you are SUCH a rebel, honey. Just like Billy Idol. You can't even claim "comfy" b/c lord knows Chucks do not fit that description, they just hurt in a different way than the complicated spike heels.

As much as I love me some Ramilicious, I have to agree with CPK on this one. I actually cringed.

Also, I had to double take at Lauren Conrad's makeup; is it just me, or did it age her an extra 10 years? I honestly didn't recognize her.

Of course, Miley Cyrus is just a big pile of aged hot mess. That first picture is so painfully awkward. I'm not sure why she's trying to display that heinous jewelry so everyone can see EXACTLY how badly styled she really is. She and Kristen Stewart appear to have attended the same school of terrible posing. I just don't even know anymore...

On a good note, the CariDee dress was gorgeous. Huzzah, PPS!

Lauren's dress had a few issues. Here's her tweet about it.

"Ruh roe! Dress for the movie awards just arrived from tailor. Doesn't fit. Already 30 mins late to leave. The day's about to get interesting"

Sandra does look annoyed, and I love her for it.

I don't know who is dressing Caridee these days, or if she's just dressing in the dark, but, my goodness, honey. I like her so much, but she been looking kind of awful lately.

Jeanne said: Is it me or is Cameron Diaz looking about 10 years older than she should? Is it because she's such an outdoorsy type and is always in the sun? Genetics? Styling? She looks a bit haggard lately. Maybe her natural look only works as a young woman. Can't quite put my finger on it.

It's like she's trying too hard to prove that she's above it all. Or she just doesn't give a damn. Either way, she's always a mess.

Sienna Miller doesn't move me at all, but I've never seen her look bad. Looking lovely might be the only thing she can do, but she does it very well.

"It's Miley!" Sweetie, you're barely old enough to drive. Stop looking like an old lady.

too many cats

A lot of them seem to have been to the "rode hard and put away wet" beauty salon and winter shoe sale.

You guys did choose a sort of complementary photo of C Diaz with her younger costars; there's at least one other in which she has the Snow White Wicked step mother over-made-up look down pat.
(Boy did Breslin grow up fast!)

OK, it's MTV...which may give them all passes in that they aren't more vulgar than their peers.

another laura

I want all of the shoes and none of the dresses. Those blue boots, I just lerve.

Is it just me? The minis all look just. too. short.

"Re: Rimes' too-formal frock

yeah - it worked for the show, but i totally would have rocked something fun and fresh for the red carpet. she stuck out like a sore thumb

Lauren Conrad - I wonder if her hair had been pulled back and he had less severe makeup how she would like. I still think the dress would have landed on the tacky side, but it wouldnt be soooo bad

Leight Meester - If anything i am just complete bored by the dress. A back dress with s&m-esque strappyness with a little bit of see through material that shows just a hint of butt cleavage. dont even try comparing it to the rose mcgowan chain dress....because while that dress was tacky, it still took guts and we are still talking about that dress 12 years later. we wont be talking about leigton's dress tomorrow.

megan fox - the dress - who cares? (but love the house of dereon comment) i really hate the shoes. her feet are way too big for them, and they are just too heavy. i think a light silver sandal like Sienna's would have looked a lot cuter

Taraji P Henson - she looks like a cocktail waitress at a French Country inspired Vegas casino

What is with the posture on some of these chicks? Kristen Stewart's is particularly awful - would it kill her to put her shoulders back and stand up straight?

I'm really offended by the racist comments you've been making lately: in this instance, "Are we just not getting it or is it now hip for black actresses to show up at events dressed like maids?" I don't have to explain why your statements are wrong because you know exactly what you're doing and just want a reaction.

Cameron Diaz - My immediate thought was, "she is wearing a going out to eat ribs ensemble,"[/Kors] - but TLo said it better.

CariDee English - This dress has been around. I like the color combo, very Popsicle, which is a good thing in my book in early June. The shoes don't work and the dress would work better if it were longer. CariDee looks much older than her years.

Jenna Dewan - Thumbs up, I like the shoes. Work that pout!

Kristen Stewart - I actually like the tennis shoes. The slouch is killing me, I want to smack her, yell at her and then smack her again. She makes me want to channel one of those nuns from yesteryear who is responsible for sending dozens of maladjusted adults to therapy.

Lauren Conrad - I HATE the hair and she should stand up straighter. Is she in her late 20s? I actually think the dress looks better on LC than the model and I like her shoes better too.

LeAnn Rimes - She looks FANTASTIC in the first picture, the dress is not as flattering at other angles. She definitely should have saved this dress for another event.

Leighton Meester - She looks very cute and I like her hair, make up and smile. The ensemble looks good, but for some reason there is no WOW and I feel that there should be. I want to see more from her.

Megan Fox - I like it a lot including the severe styling. OK I trashed Frau Seal for squeezing her big ol' Fred Flintstone feet into a shoe that was too small; but I am seeing the same effect on Megan with the same Louboutin. I may owe Heidi an apology?

Miley Cyrus - My first thought was that "It's Rami's 'Ladies Who Lunch' Prom Dress!" TLo's comment nailed it.

Sandra Bullock - Great legs, the dark tights are killing me. TLo nailed it again.

Sienna Miller - WERK!!!

Taraji P. Henson - Well my mind went straight to, "is she doing a play on the big butt stereotype?" Although I actually think it looks good on her body, except the dress should be a little longer.

Vanessa Hudgens - Cute smile and vamping, but the dress... No...NO... NO!!!

Sandy Bullock, can we talk?

Honey, give it freakin' up. You're too old for that dress and for what looks like a real stinker of a romantic comedy you're try to advertise.

I mean, seriously, she's 45 and is doing another silly romantic comedy like she's 25.

You turned down Million Dollar Baby for chrissakes! And for what? Miss Congeniality 2? Some stupid romcom that Julia Roberts turned down?

Give it up honey, move on. You've got a hot husband to do the romance thing on. Pick better roles and show us some acting chops.

It's all said with love.

Rant over.

As for the rest, most of whom I've never heard off...I've got a lotta problems with those outfits, and that's just the tip of the iceberg...

I will say no more.

I think that TLo's comment was addressing the racism, Anon, not introducing it. It's analogous to that moment at the Oscars a few years back, when Whoopi Goldberg was hosting and wore various costumes from nominated films. When she came out in a tattered shift (from Beloved, I think...) She pointed out a GIANT diamond ring, because, to paraphrase, you don't put a successful intelligent Black Woman in servant clothes at a formal event, damn it. I think TLo were going for, "Where's her honkin huge diamond ring, please!"

How many times, in how many fabrics, are we going to see that EXACT Rami dress? I'm not a fan.

The comment on Sandra's pics is sooo perfect. I genuflect in your general direction.

I think if you are a regular or even semi-regular reader of this blog you could never in a million years accuse TLO of being racist. I think they are actually calling out the implicit racism in a black actress wearing an outfit like that.

And, Bailey, is that you?

"Anonymous said...

I'm really offended by the racist comments you've been making lately ... I don't have to explain why your statements are wrong"

How convenient.

Another bit of advice for Sandy:

botox is not your friend. You're starting down that Faye Dunaway route and that ain't good.

She dosen't even look like herself anymore. You know what I mean?

And TARAJI??? You're fabulous, and have a great body, but the caboose is not flattering ATALL!

"CPK said...

Exactly! Quite the opposite, they go out of their way to celebrate black beauty.

Not loving any of these looks and can someone teach these girls how to pose on the red carpet. No kisses and/or peace sign, please.

LOVED the Jiffy Pop comment re: Rami's dress. And about Cameron's tunic looking like a nurse's floral uniform shirt. Perfect, y'all nailed it.

Nice dress on Leanne Rimes and probably fits her gay hubby to a tee!

Wonder if she's still hooking up with Eddie Cibrian (muy caliente! ay!)

CC, nice pic.

You looke like Angie Harmon with a pixie cut. No lezzie.

:0)

I actually like Kristen Stewart's outfit - it's very her. I only wish that she would have stood up straight. She's a pretty girl, wearing a cute dress paired with unexpected shoes. Rock it like you've got some confidence, Kris!

So, what happened at the show between Bruno and Eminem?

Anonymous, thank you! But I've let it grow out just a bit because I was constantly being mistaken for either my 20-yr-old daughter's boyfriend (at a distance) or a lesbian (up close). Not that there's anything wrong with that ...

Don't love Leighton's dress, but LOVE those purple booties. What gorgeous proportions on those! --
CAAF

Miley Cyrus is a 45 year old woman trapped in the body of a 16 year old.

She looks like she's playing "dress up" with the clothes in Mommy's closet. Even the shoes are too big!

You know, if you're going to rock the green nail polish, you need to take that look all the way.

Anon 10:47, I was a bit surprised by the comment, too. I've been reading this blog long enough to know that TLo have a way of handling just about every sensitive situation gracefully, in their blogging and in their responses to things that come up here on the comments page. Honestly, sometimes I'm surprised by how they know just the right thing to say, often in situations where I'm sure I wouldn't know (and I'm rarely at a loss for words!). Given that, I trust them enough to believe their intention was not to perpetuate racism, but rather to make a comment about racism. So I'm equally surprised by your comment about "racist comments. . . lately" (the plural, the "lately"). I rarely miss a day here, and I don't recall seeing anything else that's raised my very sensitive racism-radar. Did the Boys take a misstep in their wording today? Possibly (though clearly some don't think so). But as for a pattern of racist remarks . . . I haven't seen it.

6/2/09 11:21 AM Anonymous, thank you! But I've let it grow out just a bit because I was constantly being mistaken for either my 20-yr-old daughter's boyfriend (at a distance) or a lesbian (up close). Not that there's anything wrong with that ...

I kind of find it hard to believe that you have a 20 year old daughter. LOL!

If anything, tell them you're her big sis instead.

My mom does it!

;0)

"I think they are actually calling out the implicit racism in a black actress wearing an outfit like that." So they are accusing her of racism?

Aww, Raceanon, who's a wittle bitty troll? Is it you? Is it you? Issums?

"I think they are actually calling out the implicit racism in a black actress wearing an outfit like that." So they are accusing her of racism?

No, it has more to do in my very own opinion with prevailing culture stereotypes and what a look like that might suggest. But please don't try and engage me in an argument. I come here for TLo's wit and fashion wisdom.

I'm pretty sure that my grandmother had a housedress like Cameron Diaz' top.

Geez - my mom and all my "black friends" tell me I have a "black girl's ass" apparently that makes all of them racists.

No jokes allowed. EVER!

Kristen Stewart would've gotten a big thumbs up if her posture wasn't so bad - her arms are just hanging there like dead weight. The dress paired with the Chucks is cute & age-and-event appropriate, but like TLo said, she is SO not working it!

I don't know what is more sad...that I only recognized about 3 women in the pictorial, or that I hated all the looks except for the one worn by Sienna Miller. TLo, it is amazing that you can keep up with all of the new faces and the myriad designers. What would I do without you????? I would be so clueless...lol. Thanks, guys!

for my part, i’m just glad to see that kristen stewart is smirking instead of scowling.

i’m much more concerned about lauren conrad’s dry, split ends than the dress. girlfriend needs a deep conditioning and trim, stat!

I saw Caridee on the TV Guide channel a couple weeks ago looking like crap. Harsh black eyes and odd hair.

This look was an improvement.

PJ, I'm with you -- there are several names and faces I don't recognize. And thank you for saying "myriad designers" (not "myriad OF designers," which drives me crazy!).

Does Rami have one dress he designs for the red carpet and just reproduces it from girl to girl? Are they even aware someone wore a dress just like that but in a different fabric?

Anyway your comments on the new racial trends of the Red Carpet made me burst out uncontrollably in the middle of the subway platform. Kudos, gents!

jesus could kristen stewart be more baked?

I liked the dress on miss blair, it looks interesting! don't like her ass hanging out in the back however.

"TheNYCourier said...

I know, right? Same goes for Christian's. It's just in a different color. Can't those stylists pick a different dress from their collection. That thing is going to fall apart any time soon of so much drycleaning.

Blah

I was disappointed with basically everyone. I liked LC's dress but that hair was psycho barbie. I heard Kristen had a foot injury so that may explain the shoes, but you are SPOT ON saying that she always looks dirty, she does!

Some fab shoes of course but the dresses were doing nothing for them... :(

"Anonymous said: I don't have to explain why your statements are wrong because you know exactly what you're doing and just want a reaction."

That little ditty above applies to YOU, not Tlo. And it's not that you 'don't have too explain', it's that you CAN'T explain. Because there is nothing TO explain, and you lack both reason and intellect (call it the proverbial duel of wits with the unarmed opponent).

There is nothing racist in anything Tlo has ever posted here. You just have your own bitter reasons for attempting to rain on the parade. But it doesn't wash and doesn't work.

--GothamTomato

I agree with the almost everything, TLO, except the Rami dress. Didn't fit around the chest and looks slutty and chip in a chip way.
Love, love PPS's dress. Shame about the fug shoes. And whoever said House of Dereon called it - not just for the D&G but for a few other ensembles too.
I agree - love the PPS dress, hate the Rami. Blech!

Lauren Conrad would have looked much better if she had just left the dress alone.

The Sandra Bullock "what she is thinking" is brilliant. That is how she looks and exactly how I would feel if I had to go to the MTV freaking Movie Awards.

Ally, there are plenty of cute, comfortable flats in the world that she could have chosen over the ratty sneaker look.

I never would have thought Megan Fox could look homely. I guess she doesn't have the kind of beauty that exists without poofy hair.

I think Taraji's dress is cute, but Sienna is the only one who really looks good here. Partly because she looks so darned happy to be here.

Cameron might be trying to look more motherly because she plays a mom and a "serious actress" part in the film. But what is with her and Sandy Bullock wearing wintry looks? It's almost summer, girls.

Vanessa is adorable no matter what she wears. Kudoes for not buying into "who can wear the shortest dress" contest, even though her dress looks too big for her.

I simply don't stand for racism, and there is no ulterior motive. I will be watching for further instances, and I will be sure to point them out.

Bethany - you posted EXACTLY what I was thinking, if Sandra Bullock & Miley the Cougar switched outfits it would have been great. I love Sandra's dress, but not so much on her and vice versa.

Not to defend a fake celebrity like Lauren Conrad, but I did read something that said her dress came back from the tailors too small apparently they altered it wrong but she didn't have anything else to wear or some such b.s. Is any of it true? Doubtful, but it's as good an excuse as any.

I have no idea who the vast majority of these ladies are....And don't feel like I'm really missing anything.

That silly costume on Taraji makes her look more like an osterich than a maid.

GG

If Cameron Diaz looks older these days, she gets a pass. Her father passed away in April, and I can tell you from experience that crying on and off for weeks straight will add years on anyone's face. At least for a few months.

fashionablylate

As lovely as Megan Fox is, she can't pull that hairstyle off. Too severe. I do like the makeup and dress, but yeah, the shoes are too small - I can't understand why anyone would leave the house with their toes hanging over the edge of their shoes.

Can I go ahead and voice my disgust at how everyone else EXCEPT for TLo has been giving biased reviews on all the Twilighter's outfits for the evening? "K-Stew! Love the dress! She's Spidergurl guyz lololol!" "R-Patz! Omigod! He looks like he just got out of bed!"

I have no trouble with anyone picking up Twilight and reading it if that's what they want to do, but I don't like how the stars of this movie are kind of going out looking like they just rolled out of bed. I get this is a "look", but I don't like it. It's like looking at them and almost being able to smell how they didn't take a shower since yesterday afternoon. ...Ew.

Sienna Miller wins for today. What a cute dress!

I hope Cameron Diaz is saving her pennies 'cause that girl is lookin' ROUGH these days!

I never, ever got the Cameron Diaz love. She's not that great of an actress and she's ugly as hell.

She was never cutesy or luscious.

I cringe whenever I see her.

Cari-Dee looks great IMO, minus those wrong, wrong, wrong shoes.

Poor Sandra. She's just not liking this red-carpet crap.

Miley Cyrus and the rest can just go away.

To me, every single one of these outfits is underwhelming, and all of the women are having bad hair/makeup days.

Not one rocks, not one enchants.

What's the matter with everyone, anyway?

The whole bunch an an after-effect of having scrolled through a bunch of men in drag doing uninspired startlet/tartlets on parade. A few nice colors, including Christian's and one happy looking girl, Sienna. The rest phoned in their drag replacement. What a waste of time and money.

Miley needs counseling in the worst way. The excruciating eye makeup is as bad as the always inappropriate dress choices. No, I'm not a fan but this is beyond that. I hope she gets the message. I guess Aunt Dolly opened up the country door to "wear whatever you want, Miley" and she has been since. I am fearful I will have to look at her train wreck for like the next 30 years.

I was really afraid you guys would cover this event, because it was all kinds of horrible. I hate hate hated Megan Fox's styling.

Kristen Stewart's style is awful. Someone get that girl a hairbrush and some make-up remover.

I don't care if she twisted her ankle - put some heels on and deal for two hours.

Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh.

Except the Azzedine Alaïa shoes.

And Sienna is very pretty there.

Jenna Dewan looks like Jiffy Pop

And now, for my thoughts.
--------
Cameron: I would love that outfit on someone else (someone younger). Is it just me or is she aging super fast all of a sudden? Love the top, love the boots, but not on her.
--------
Caridee: It's like she picked out the shoes to go with the original colors and then randomly changed the colors without changing shoes. Both versions of the dress are gorgeous, but the hair and the shoes are just "whaaaaa?"
---------
Jenna: Okay, she looks a bit ticky-tacky wannabe Megan Fox. The dress doesn't look so tackalicious on the super-skinny model, but Jenna has some curves so it's a little bit trashy. Too much makeup, too.
----------
Kristen: MY EYES!!!! MY EYES!!!! And she is starting to look like she has a life-long heroin addiction. She needs to straighten up and fly right and GET A STYLIST.
==========
Lauren: Looks like she put the dress through the dryer and it shrunk majorly. Not a fan of the new silhouette and the hair overwhelms it. She needs to stick to boring LA shit because she will never be a fashionista no matter how hard she tries. Give it up, honeycakes.
------------
LeAnn: Sweetie, just because you're cheating on your hubby doesn't mean you can show up heinously overdressed with crappy hair.
------------
Leighton: Not a fan of the dress itself, but she pulls it off. Great hair, makeup, shoes...L is becoming a real fashion force.
------------
Megan: Hot tranny mess. She looks like she has a receding hairline. Hair, makeup, and shoes are awful, but the dress is passable. I guess she's trying to look more "mature" now she's married or engaged or whatever.
============
Miley: WHOOOOOOOOOOOOORE. That's all.
------------
Sandra: Oh, dear. I feel like this could've worked with better hair and makeup and not the mugshot expression.
------------
Sienna: Welcome back from a loooong line of fashion mishaps. You are fierce, wouldn't change a thing.
============
Taraji: I actually like it. Like a grown up Rihanna almost. Fierce dress and great styling. I approve.
----------
Vanessa: She's starting to get a little old to be blowing kisses. And the outfit isn't anything groundbreaking, but it was event-appropriate and looked good on her. The accessories coordinate and her hair is luscious.

What the hell happened to beautiful Cameron Diaz? She looks beat to hell.

I don't care if she twisted her ankle - put some heels on and deal for two hours.

If she twisted her ankle, then she needs something for support. It would be downright silly to wear heels.

sheesh people, her dad died. give her a break.

Megan Fox always looks like a harsh mannequin, imo. Is it even possible for her to look soft and pretty? Her eyes always look dead, and she has this odd expression on her face like she wants to vomit.

She's a beauty, but a very lifeless cold one.

What!? So anybody else can dress up like a sexy French maid if they want to, but if you're Black you can't/shouldn't?

Why, because she should be ashamed? I'm Black and I didn't 'go there', why did you?

I just read through the rest of the comments and I didn't know that there had been a debate about that comment before I posted. I am NOT accusing TLO of racism at all, but perhaps of being too PC or a bit reactionary.

"Is this the new irony or something? Are we just not getting it or is it now hip for black actresses to show up at events dressed like maids? Some sort of statement? We're confused."

Gee, I'm confused. You guys used to be cleverer than this kind of rehashed, not that funny the 1st time, joke from M. Kors season 3. At least THEN it was an arguably appropriate critique of someone's specific design and not an entire ethnic group of people.

Delete me if you will but not funny and EXTREMELY inappropriate and offensive to your readers!

Simply because that's what YOU see when a Black woman wears a black and white outfit...doesn't mean SHE thinks of herself in such an outdated derogatory way. That's YOUR issue...sadly enough... and I suppose YOUR blog...or did I mistakenly wander onto DON IMUS' fashion blog!

Fun & bitchy is one thing, perpetuating racial stereotypes, when neither of you is of that race, is quite another. Very disappointing.

Eric

Gosh, I remember Cameron Diaz from the Mask days, she always looked incredible, this is really bad.

Soooo....Christan and Rami...

They've made other dresses too, right? Because these 2 seem to be the only ones that are selling.

It looks like Lauren Conrad lost some weight. She looks good, but I hate the dress.

Kristen looks like they dragged her out of her room, threw her in the back of a limo, and pushed out onto the carpet while they were still moving.

Honey, a little OTT on the PC police act, no?
You can cal that what ever you want, but it still spells "H y p o c r i s y". "..when neither of you is that race" So a black person can make that comment but not a white? If it is "wrong" or inappropriate, then it should have NOTHING to do with the race of the person saying it.

"lighten up" ...so to speak.

I think part of Megan's "look" is her heavy, very dark eyebrows, that look a little harsh with her hair slicked back. Also, she has a waxy, frozen look to her face; I hope she's not botoxing already but she probably is.

Well at least she tried something different (with the hair, anyway).

okay ...I did like most of these ...but LeAnn Rimes looked like seaweed ...right off of a california roll ..no good.

A few more thoughts. Sandra looks like a kitchen appliance in spackled grey (..."just plug it in...") & hasn't changed her look in forever. Is married life that tough? Leighton does not do that dress well, she just looks chip. Megan is a knock-off of Karen Graham, Estee Lauder's former cover girl, same hair & makeup. Funny; Karen was much older and looked far more feminine. It was her signature look. The young girl in the Donald Duck butt dress so talked about herein looked like a cupie doll. Oh well. No stylists need apply here, (or many other places here) mac. What's the use. This spread depressed me.

OMG what is miley cyrus thinking that is the ugleist thing i have ever seen she is a 16 or 17 teen year old and she is dressing like a 50 year old and her face looks like she got in a frezzing pool and it turned her lips purple and why didn't anyone critize they only said a good thing about her and bad things about every one eles i think it is just wrong

whats up with miley cyrus out fit she 17 and dressing like a 50 year old and her hair looks like she just threw her hair up in a ponytail and just went out on the carpet and i hate the fact she always dresses in skimpy little outfits just to get a guy 2 look at her looks like someone needs a reallity check BIG BIG TIME!!!!!!!

Umm, yes, Ann. Here on the planet Earth that's usually the safe bet. Like it or not.
Just substitute any non-majority socio-ethnic group and everyone can get in on the Offender vs. Offended game!

Jews can call other Jews names but DON'T let the Media personality Gentile try it. Same with Irish. Same with Gays. In fact, VH1 will soon be airing a "Where are They Now: Isiah Washington" special so stay tuned! If he had said any of the things on set that TLo says on this blog [about gays] he'd be fired! Oh yeah, he was! And you know what! He DESERVED TO BE.

TLo publish a daily blog with a section for reader comments. As a loyal reader and a BIG fan, I was offended and-momentarily-alienated by their commentary and chose to let them know. You'll be delighted to know I feel ever the "lighter" for it!

Thanks, Ann!

Eric

PS- to TLO

By my last comment I did not mean to imply that your off-the-cuff, tongue and cheek commentary is comparable to the vitriolic, homophobic, hate speech of Isiah Washington.

While I was, sincerely offended, I DO acknowledge a clear distinction between the two. Only using the extreme to make the point.

All the best!

E

God. Why didn't anyone (with the exception of Sienna) dress their age??? Too old, to young, too dowdy or too short. Wake up and check the calendar, ladies! Dress your age and you'll look a billion times better.

i know kristens shoes arent the best. but i heard she couldnt wear heels because sometime alittle before that she messed up her ankle. so i understand that. and hey her hair looked amazing
