2009 CFDA Fashion Awards

It's fashion's prom night, kittens! And everyone did okay!

Maggie Grace in Christian Siriano Spring 2009

She looks great. The belt is a smart addition (although we wouldn't have gone all black in the accessories.)

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu Fall 2009

She also looks great. For once, a shortened hem looks like the right choice. Hmm. Black belt, shoes, and bag. We're not loving the matchy trend on the red carpet lately.

Claire Danes in Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2009

From the neck down, she looks incredible. Oh, don't get us wrong, there's nothing wrong from the neck up that an occasional smile wouldn't fix. Cheer up, honey. You're thin and rich.

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte Fall 2009

It looks better on her than it does on the model, mainly due to the removal of those overwhelming boots. Granted, the shoes she replaced them with are kind of on the ugly side, but she's rocking the dress.

Blake Lively in Michael Kors Fall 2009

There are really only two requirements to wearing a basic strapless hot pink sheath: boobs and blonde. She nailed it, but it's not exactly a tough look to nail.

Ashley Olsen in a vintage gown

It's got a little bit of a Sugarbaker vibe to it, but the dress really works for her. Great color.

Molly Sims in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009

We're not crazy about whatever that alteration is to the bust (it looks like she shredded it), but we have to say, this is a tough dress to pull off and she's MORE than pulling it off.

Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein Resort 2010

It's a very simple dress, but she looks amazing in it.

Heidi Klum in Michael Kors Fall 2009

She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands.

LOVE. IT.

The Olsen ferret is in vintage....what?

Aside from that, don't know half of these blonde chicks.

Uhura looks the best, and I can even muster an 'in' for sourpuss Claire Danes.

Pregnancy looks good on Frau Seal despite looking like an oven-baked potato in the Duchess' getup.

why vintage Norma Desmond, of course! all she needs is a turban.

"She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands."

If it's worth saying once, it's worth saying two or three more times! First laugh of what's going to be a trying day.

Zoe Saldana made that dress sing - and look girls - she didn't need to hem it up to her crotch to do it! How novel.

You were kind to Ms. Olsen - the front view is kind of linebacker across the shoulders - though I will admit side & back were nice, and overall it was o.k.

Ms. Dunst's shoes were awful.

Lots of "pulling off dresses that could have been disasters" going around. Love it. Special props to Ms. Sims and to whoever does Ms. Klum's hair & makeup.

I was thinking more Joan Crawford with the linebacker shoulders. She's just needs 3 pounds of eyeliner.

Okay, so Jennifer A was the before picture in the Jiffy Pop demo, and Heidi is the after. Thanks!

Look at how great Heidi's face looks with that extra baby weight. It just smoothed out the eye creases. Just smoothed out her skin altogether.

She looks 5-10 years younger.

I don't know who Zoe Saldana is, but I love the dress, and it looks great on her. Dress and wearer do well by each other.

Totally love Maggie Grace in Christian Siriano. Great color and style but I agree a different color clutch would have worked.

Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein looks lovely. She looks ten times better than the runway model.

No one can top your Heidi comment. Totally cracked up at that and the baked potato.

Claire Danes dress is great but she looks like she'd rather be somewhere else. I think Zoe's was best because it was simple but great and accesorized well.

Everybody else's had "risky" things about them, like shiny or bright or different desings (like the Monroe dress). Like someone else said, most of these could've been awful but they managed to make them look passable for the most part.

"She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands."

ROFL.

Zoe Saldana is gorgeous! She looks amazing!

"She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands."

LOL. That is so true.

Ashley looks amazing. I really love that color on her, and the dress is beautiful.

Thanks for a great early Wednesday treat, TLo!!
Maggie Grace looks like a cinched cumulus cloud, and not in a good way.
Diane Kruger: Love the dress in gray with the longer hemline. Not so much in red and black.
Clare Danes: One word, Gorgeous!
Kirsten Dunst: The mummy called, he wants his shroud back.
Blake Lively: The gal can rock strapless shocking pink. I love it.
Ashley Olsen: At least she doesn't look like the Corpse Bride, but what vintage is she wearing? It's awful.
Molly Sims: Just NO.
Zoe Saldana: I just love it! Simple, tasteful, stylish, and it fits beautifully!!!
Heidi: Pleeeeeze, no more Jiffy Pop/Reynolds wrap, though your face looks radiant!!! Preggers becomes you!

Oh no, Christian totally ripped off Leanne!

I get more of a David Byrne big suit vibe from the Olsen sister.

wow. there truly is a lot of pulling-it-out going on up there.

props to everybody.
shout-out to Saldana for looking effortlessly amazing and beautifully appropriate!

two notes:

i see the necessity of the belt for the silhouette of the Siriano dress, but something in me hates to see those beautiful graduated ruffles and flounces get crushed.

secondly, you dolls were all over Reese Witherspoon when she wore a very similar Rodarte dress (with a degree more colour and less edge), and mentioned that it needed the funky leg wraps to really work. why is that not the case here? (especially since to be honest neither Reese not Kirsten seem like the Rodarte 'type'.)

thx!

Zoe Saldana looks amazing. Great dress, with great styling.

There is good vintage, and then there is bad vintage. I don't think Ashley Olsen gets that. The dress is too overwhelming for her petite frame and too matronly. Ashley dear, the years will go by faster than you can imagine. Dress youthfully while you still can.

That is a good color for Olsen clone #1, but don't you think that the dress is swallowing her? She's tiny, and that's one big, square dress.

I wish that we could see the back of Clare Danes' dress. It looks like it has some interesting detail.

Uhura's dress, although simple, is very classy, and she wears it well.

I get more of a girl crush on Diane Kruger the more I see her, but I would have been more of a fan if she had brought my favorite accessory -- JJ (yum!).

I actually like Kirsten's shoes, but not with that dress. They would be better paired with a more relaxed look.

Molly looks as good in that dress as you possibly good, but I just cannot get into dresses with huge faces on them. This rule also applies to gorrillas (Rihianna, I'm talking to you!).

Clare Danes usually looks like an unmade bed. This is a huge improvement. She's look terrific.

I'm not sure if I like Maggie Grace's dress but she's pulling it off. Who knew she could do that?

Ashley Olsen is so overpowered by that dress I'm surprised she can stand up. It probably weighs more than she does. And it's hideous. I almost wish her sister had dressed her.

why vintage Norma Desmond, of course! all she needs is a turban.

There are no small roles. Just small brains.

Saldana is the star of this show.

another laura

Right on, TLo about all of these bitches. Only one thing - I'm not feeling the Jason Wu love for that hemline.

God, doesn't Heidi just take your breath away? Love your comment on her, like others above. Her makeup is way too heavy, too.

thanks for these views to start our day!

Ashley Olsen needs a crown and a sword to complete that costume.

Frau looks like a baked potato! I wonder why they never had a maternity challenge on PR? They could have given the models prostetic bellies. Could have been an interesting challenge.

-gg

Kirsten Dunst looks like an unfinished papier-mache project.

Claire Danes used to be so cute-- what happened? Cut your hair, loosen up! You're glowering.

Ashley Olsen's drowning in that gown, I find the color & shape all wrong for that tiny troll doll.

The Calvin Klein dress looks best, but the mystery-actress does not wear it better than the model!

I thought Christian ripped off Leanne, too. He just made the petals smaller.

And yes, there's something disturbing about the heavy leather belt crushing those petals. To wear such a dress, you've just got to suck it up and accept the fact that your waist won't be accentuated.

1. Christian- Not quite the right girl for the dress. I like the runway version better.

2. Wu- I like the runway version of this one better as well.

3. Rodriquez- It would look even better if it was lined or worn with a slip.

4. Rodarte- Looks good on her. I hate the boots.

5. Kors- I like the dress. The girl is too tanned though.

6. Vintage on Olsen-
I like the way she dresses. Kind of reactionary against all the short, tight, and shiny that you usually see on the young and thin starlets.

7. Dolce & Gabbana- I would wear that skirt anywhere. Looks great on the runway and on the starlet.

8. Klein- Very nice, better than the runway, by far.

9. Kors (again)- Is this a one of just for Heidi? It looks good on her. She doesn't need that much eye make-up and she could scale the earrings down, but over all a good look for her.

Zoe Saldana is making a run to be the next big thing as far as fashion icons go. She has really been hitting it out of the park all season.

Forgot to add:

I appreciate the fact that Ashley Olson (really both Olsons) eschews the short, tight, and shiny look that is generally favored by other young women in their age range and tax bracket. But she really is way too wee for that dress.

Maggie Grace and Zoe Saldana look AMAZING. I think the belt was a great addition to the dress (though like another poster, I cringe to think of those beautiful ruffles getting smooshed). I think I may have a new girlcrush on Zoe. Girl is gorgeous.

Ashley Olsen isn't wearing her vintage dress, the dress is wearing her. She looks like she's being eaten.

That Marilyn Monroe dress is fucking ridiculous. If it didn't have the name "Dolce & Gabbana" on it, no one would dare defend it.

Sorry, but if Christian ripped off anybody, it was himself.

He had the same design dress in his BP Finale show.

BeautifulMonday -

I agree on both counts about the Siriano dress!

The belt makes it look flattering, instead of just 'fashion-y', but it seems bad to squish the floaty layers.

I wish that Christian Siriano was my best friend who lived at my house and spent all day sewing clothes for me.

Finally everyone looks awesome!
My favorites are Maggie, Claire and Zoe.

Hated the Olsen dress. Yuck. Everybody else was from ok to pretty spectacular (Claire Danes, Molly Sims). The CK dress on Zoe Saldana is very pretty, but I don't like the color on her. Oh, and I was thinking something very similar about Heidi's dress, though not as funnily phrased, of course.

Zoe Saldana looks gorgeous!

Lisa

The Calvin Klein dress looks best, but the mystery-actress does not wear it better than the model!

Mystery actress was in something called the recent 'Star Trek' Movie.

Yeah, never heard of it. But it's something about space. Myspace, maybe?

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

I hope this wrinkled tin-foil trend goes away soon.

Maggie Grace looks FABULOUS! Go PPS!!!

I hate Heidi's earrings, they look like metal eggs, and they're too big. Everything is over the top with this woman.

"She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands."

ROFLMAO. Love you, bitches!!

YAY! Zoe Saldana ROCKS!!! She is GORGE!

bitchybitchybitchy

I'll join in the love for Zoe Saldana in the Calvin Klein. She really looks fabulous.

That vintage gown is a lotta look on a petite woman.

Christian Siriano was doing the petals before Judy Noodles-just a gentle reminder.

Love the comment about Frau Seal and short and shiny-so spot on!

I'm a jewelry whore and I LOVE Frau Seal's earrings.

But they probably weigh a ton.

Christian's earlier efforts were traditional ruffles rather than petals, for the sake of argument.

True, though-- this dress is very similar his PR Bryant Park dress.

"She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands."
TOO FUNNY!

I agree with whoever said PPS did not rip off Leanne - that is his look, modified from his BP PR collection.
Blake Lively is a gorgeous girl and the leathery tan is doing her no favors although the dress is great on her, the whole combo seems to age her. And I think Clare Danes' boobs look squished.
Other than that, I think everyone looks pretty good - I like the dress on the Olsen twin. She is tiny enough to carry off the big shoulders.

I actually prefer the Jason Wu dress in its original color and hem length. The red on Diane Kruger makes it look like a military uniform.

Kirsten Dunst ..... she looks like someone tied together rolls of toilet paper and aluminimum foil, wrapped her in it, and sent her out the door.

Lisa
6/17/09 10:42 AM Christian's earlier efforts were traditional ruffles rather than petals, for the sake of argument.

Sure.

*sigh*...forget it.

I LOVE Rodarte and it's always nice to see a celebrity wearing one their dresses, but I don't think Kirsten can pull it off. She's not fierce enough.

Zoe: Fab!
Maggie: Fab!
Diane: Fab!

Heidi: "I'm sorry but you're OUT"

Maggie Grace looks beautiful, but I hate the belt. I agree with you guys that the black was wrong, but besides that...the belt is just ugly. Don't know if anyone else commented on this, but it looks as if she has her cell phone attached to her belt, and that's never a good look for anyone.
Still, she's in.

LaFemmeFataledeNY

PPS = Judy Noodles

Really? C'mon guys. That's ridiculous.

Heh... Sugarbaker vibe. As usual, you are spot-on!

I gotta say, I hate that dress on the Olsen, whichever one it is. Why do they both always look like bag ladies? I mean, this dress does have color, at least. But the cut is so weird -- and the shoulders! And what do the two of them have against showing a little leg? Jeez.

My first thought on seeing La Klum was "well, at least it's not tight" but you boys said it with more panache.

Blake should've pulled her hair back. Long, loose blonde hair with that dress looks slutty, slutty, slutty.

I like the idea of a belt with that dress, I just didn't like the belt she picked.

Anonymous-- While your response drips sarcasm, it somehow lacks force.

By the way:

"She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands."

Freaking hilarious!!

And THAT, ladies, is why I keep coming back every day : )

Diane Kruger: I like the length and the color better on the original gray dress. The short red version looks a little slutty, slutty, slutty to me.

Kirsten Dunst: Wow, I just can't get over the fact that for once, her boobs aren't down around her belly button.

The whole "So-and-so ripped off [random PR designer]!" thing is getting really, really old. There is so much more to fashion than "Leanne invented petals," and pretending like everybody in the design world is turning to amateur reality-TV fashion designers for their ideas is patently ridiculous.

I WANT that Calvin Klein Resort dress. No...I NEED it!!

You guys are so funny, but totally right about Heidi. Still, the woman looks amazing.

The attendees took a happy pill. they had reason to glow, they were beautiful. Not a clinker in the bunch. Kirstin looked the best in memory eye makeup too much, though. Olsen looked great (gorge makeup) but overpowered, still much better than usual. The original bodice on Marilyn Monroe was better. That's how you do a hot pink dress and ditto for Siriano. Heidi looks like a Christmas tree and the presents. Girl does it all, big is the forever Heidi. She reminds me of Madonna more and more. Take it easy, woman, please.

All in all, eye candy! Isn't perfection perfect?

I agree with almost everything you said. I'd add:

Ashley, smile! Or would your face crack?

Zoe, honey I have one word to make you look even better: Commando

And Frau Seal, while clinging to her short and shiny, is a woman who positively glows when she is enceinte.

I don't know who is more to blame, Kors for allowing that length or Heidi for wearing it.

Dunst's dress was fab but the shoes were a hideous match. Match being the operative word, grey + silver = gotta go. Wrong.

I preferred Molly Sims gown with the straps but she rocked the hell out of it anyway.

Loved the Olsen vintage. Oh to have millions of dollars.

Hate the belt on the Siriano. Would have prefered something even simpler sans huge bukle feature.

I'm still on the fence with the Blake Lively look.

Diane Kruger's Jason Wu was so incredibly on point. Have to say I like the runway and red carpet look equally.

Ashley Olsen looks like she's wearing her grandmother's dress from the 40's and it's 4 sizes too big on her. It makes her head look like a little pea. Also-- one does NOT wear that kind of limp rag hair with a Joan Crawford frock. She looks ridiculous. What have you two been drinking?

Anonymous said...

Kirsten Dunst: Wow, I just can't get over the fact that for once, her boobs aren't down around her belly button.

Although I hated the shoes, fair play to Dunst. I can't get over the fact that for once she doesn't look like she was dragged through a hedge backwards

That dress that Claire Danes is wearing is probably very pretty, but I just can't get past that snotty look on her face. And it's ALL THE TIME with her! I'm so tired of her and her constipated face. Gawd.

Ashley's dress hem hits the average woman at the knee.

Thanks for getting me to laugh at 8:30 in the morning, before my cup of coffee.

"...they'll have to pry 'short and shiny' out of her cold, dead hands."

You're too fabulous for words.

You boys are in a good mood today. Good and generous. Because some of this crap never would have passed if you were up on the wrong side of the bed.

Maggie Grace: Like the dress w/ the belt... It's fun. Ugly black pointy pumps from the 80s (no, they do not go with anything), lumpy hair looks like something from an OC show.

Diane Kruger: Lumpy hair. Really, ladies... This is what my hair looks like on a Saturday. I can't be at the height of hair fashion. She looks a bit like a roulette wheel.

Kirsten: Ugly dress. Ugly shoes. FUGly makeup and hair. YUCK.

Blake: You forgot spray tan in addition to boobs/blonde. Horrible flashbacks to 80s neon shoelaces.

Ahley: Drowning in a dress that's too old and big for her. Looks scared. Hair/makeup: see Kirsten. Ew.

Molly: Very cute, but how does she sit down?

Zoe: Gorge, although she has foot veins a la JA. Zoe's a dancer, so they're probably permanent.

Heidi: Looks like a PR challenge -- make a maternity outfit from emergency blankets.

I am fully in love w/Claire Danes' dress/look & ditto on Zoe Saldana (the reason she looks better than the model is a) she's smiling and b) she has a better figure, i.e. she has one - she's tiny, but she's not an ironing board. I don't know if that counts as wearing the dress better but IMO it totally does.)

Hate the Blake Lively although I'm not sure if it's just that I think she's too tan for it? Too splotchy tan, or is that just the photography? Anyway. Do not dig it. She looks, I don't know, blousy and kind of old.

Zoe Saldana looks fabulous! She rocks that dress! Btw who is she?

Heidi's dress is horrible. She has no taste at all.

FYI, the incredibly nice & gorgeous Zoe Saldana plays Uhura in the new STAR TREK movie.

Who's Maggie Grace?

I was thinking that Heidi looked like a Hershey's Kiss, but baked potato will do just as well.

Nice post, boys!

Uh, how could Christian rip off Leanne when that dress debuted during season 5's airing? Furthermore, Christian used a lot of ruffles in his designs, so the dress certainly fits his aesthetic, not Leanne's.

I would just like to point out that when Reese Witherspoon wore almost the same dress that Kirsten Dunst is wearing, you guys said:

"Further, while we realize you should edit runway looks to make them right for you, taking away the killer boots and the belt is like taking away 60% of the look. The dress, if it works at all, works with them, not without them"

They were the same boots. Just thought I would point that out

"She's too pregnant for 'tight', but they'll have to pry 'short and shiny' out of her cold, dead hand."

This is why I start my day with TLo! Love you guys.

"Uh, how could Christian rip off Leanne when that dress debuted during season 5's airing?"

I think the industry term for this phenomenon is "a joke".

formerlyAnon - I guess this is reflecton on my taste level but I love Ms. Dunst's shoes.

TampaBay

Everyone looks nice. I LOVE the Monroe dress. So happy Olsen didn't pile on makeup this time. Kiki, you look great but you're starting to fade away with that shade of blonde...

That's all for me, I guess. Thanks TLo!

Ashley Olsen in a vintage gown

An Adrian maybe?
Fab dress, but too, too much dress for her and her hair looks silly with that type of dress.

I enjoy that Kirsten is constantly opting for the unexpected. Blake looks like a very fun, pretty, contemporary Barbie doll (which is great). I always love what either Olsen is wearing.

But Heidi, that dress was a big miss!

I really hate Mary Olsen's dress. It's hideous!

On the other hand, I loved these dresses/looks:

Claire Daines (she looks amazing!)
Molly Sims (Despite the fact it is a Dolce & Gabana dress, it's so but very, very Leanne Marshall)
Blake Lively (she rocks, but a necklace would have been a great accesory to that look)
Diane Kruger (stunning)
Maggie Grace (stunning too)
Zoe Saldana, I don't know who the hell you are girl, but you look amazing!! Way to go!

P.S.: Is Kirsten Dunst about to shoot Interview with the Vampire, the sequel??? She looks like Dracula's girlfriend!

How could I forgot Queen Heidi??

She always dresses herself as a slut, but she looks amazing, even pregnant!!!

Girl you rock!

That wasn't almost the same dress though. It was a completely different dress.

winninghamster

I like color but these brassy reds, oranges and pinks are just not improving the godawful spray-on tans.

Vastly prefer the original color and hem on the Jason Wu.

Claire Danes dress looks exactly like Cleopatra's costume from the "Rome" t.v. show, but in a good way.

Molly Sims is wearing a Hollywood & Highland souvenir umbrella for a skirt.

I would love Olsen's dress on some fierce bitch ten years older than her and a foot taller; it requires valkyrie legs.

Zoe Saldana ftw!

Am I the only one who thought that Claire Danes looks like Nicolette Sheridan with that uber-blonde hair? That is totally who I thought it was at first, until I saw the close ups! Her body looked amazing though, but I did think the dress was a little old for her. Regarding the annoying trend of supershort dresses: I do wish some of these girls would stop shortening the hems on their dresses. When will some of these ladies learn that sometimes a slightly longer hemline, say right above the knee,is more flattering than the mid thigh so many of them seem taken with?

I beg to differ about Blake Lively, I think she is in great need of better shoes and SOME piece of jewelry. She looks like she just stepped out of the dressing room and the stylist hasn't seen her yet.

With all of the amazing shoes available now those beige suede things are about as dull as you could find.

An Adrian maybe?
The same possibility crossed my mind, Julie. It's clearly 40s vintage, and a killer dress on the right woman. I applaud Ashley taking a step away from her usual waif/bag lady persona, but as others have mentioned, she's too petite for this. The fit looks off through the bodice, too long, and those sleeves are meant to be full length and narrow from the elbow to the wrist, not pushed up above the elbow ala Shelly O. And the strong angular dress silhouette needs an actual hairdo for balance, something sleeker than her usual bedhead look.

I could see Liv Tyler or Kate Beckinsale rocking this dress.

BTW, Tracey Ullman, who hosted, wore vintage Claire McCardell.

Would it kill Dunst to appear somewhere without the entire contents of a mascara container on her eyes?

Wow, I had NO idea Leanne was such a force in fashion, that not only is Christian Siriano ripping her off but so is Dolce & Gabbana!

I didn't know she invented these looks! Just like Anna on TFS invented horizontal pleats, eh?

I'm sure D&G doesn't even know who Leanne is, and Christian couldn't care less.

C'mon!!

honesty.not,pc

Wow! You guys must have had marital relations last night, you liked everyone! I agree with all of your judgements this time. I LOVEd that dress on Ms. Uhura (sorry don't know her real name). That is the epitome of Calvin chic.

'She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands'

Made my day!

Heidi looks the best I've ever seen her!

I don't know if it's the make up, the different shade of blonde or that alleged pregnant glow, but whatever it is she should keep doing it.

Many sites are saying that it's a vintage-inspired gown from Ashley’s own collection, The Row. We haven't been able to confirm that yet.

XO
TLo

Ashley isn't wearing vintage, she's wearing a dress from her line The Row. I think she looks fab, better than she usually does (I like MK better).

Maggie Grace - I like her hair, makeup and smile. I am all for being comfortable, but the shoes are too "sensible." The belt doesn't work for me, perhaps a different belt and a different placement of the belt would work better.

Diane Kruger - The dress is too short, but otherwise it's OK. I like the shoes.

Clare Danes - What TLo said. I have to give it to her, she looks flawless... unhappy, but flawless.

Kirsten Dunst - There is something off about this. Although it may be summer appropriate in length and fabric, it works better as a Fall look and needs dark hose, tights or dare I say leggings - there is something Star Trek-y about the look. Perhaps it would work better on Kirsten if it were a different color and a little longer. Didn't someone else wear this look on the red carpet?

Blake Lively - What TLo said.

Ashley Olsen - The dress is overwhelming her. So the designer is unknown?

Molly Sims - I like it. I think another color combo like red and black would work better with MS' coloring

Zoe Saldana - She looks great, the dress looks better on her than the model. A small nit pick, I don't like the color of the shoes.

Heidi - TLo said, "She's too pregnant for 'tight,' but they'll have to pry 'short and shiny' out of her cold, dead hands." Bloody brilliant! I like Frau Seal's hair and makeup. And oh yeah, Karl Lagerfield can kiss Heidi's yodel-aay-ee-hoooo.

Ashley Olsen looks great. I love that color on her.

Zoe is so beautiful. She's always well dressed.

'She's too pregnant for "tight," but they'll have to pry "short and shiny" out of her cold, dead hands'

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Seriously, that is hilarious!

Ashley Olsen - I’m not crazy about the dress, but she can pull it off.

I love Claire Danes' dress; the contours are doing great things for her curves, no?

Heidi is gorgeous but that is a bad choice.

TLo on Blake Lively :There are really only two requirements to wearing a basic strapless hot pink sheath: boobs and blonde. She nailed it, but it's not exactly a tough look to nail."
I would like to add "great shoes" to "boobs and blonde"

Otherwise, agree with everything.

-Ju

I'm glad to see PPS dressing so many celebrities. Maggie Grace looks great in his dress.

Many sites are saying that it's a vintage-inspired gown from Ashley’s own collection, The Row. We haven't been able to confirm that yet.

Thanks guys.
Would love to know when you find out.

The dress is wearing Ashley. The others look just fine.

Could Miss Olson find a dress that fits? Why does she always have to look like Scarlet O'Hara draped in a curtain, rod and all?

Hey, TLo, I just wanted to let you know that despite the fact that Diane Kruger's bag looks matchy, it is actually blue! So know you can go ahead and decide about that, rather than think she's following a trend. It *is* Diane Kruger... when has she been known to follow trends? haha. http://fashionablymeg.wordpress.com/2009/06/17/fab/

What exactly is the (ugly) shoulder detail on the Jason Wu?  Crotchet?  Some other trickery?

Most of these ppl look pretty good, and miles better than they look half the time I see them (... on GFY. XD)

TLo said a vintage-inspired gown from Ashley’s own collection
If that's true, I'd be willing to bet it's vintage inspired in the same way Kate Moss's "designs" for Topshop were done - line for line copies of actual vintage pieces, with her label attached.
Of course, all designers turn to past eras for inspiration to some extent or another, some more obviously than others (Ralph Lauren and Anna Sui, I'm looking at you), but if Ashley Olsen is trying to pass this off as her design, she's more out of touch with reality than I thought. And I thought she was pretty far out there.

My mind is just boggled by how ridiculous Ashley looks in that dress. It's like a hallucination brought on by bad mushrooms. I've seen some fashion disasters, and I've worn some damned silly stuff myself just for the hell of it. But I don't think I've seen anything quite this weird in a while.

I love Molly Sims' shoes. I'm a sucker for a high, open-toed pump, and the dress is so crazy it needs a simple shoe. And I think she looks amazing in that dress. I'm not a fan of strapless dresses, because too many women wear them when they shouldn't. They just look tacky. But Sims has the shoulders to pull it off.

Speaking of strapless dresses and looking tacky, Blake Lively is not doing it for me. She looks like a small town gold-digger who's watched too much Sex in the City.

I've noticed a lot of love for Leanne Marshall on this blog. What is she up to these days?

as for the pictures, all the women are looking like hot messes except Claire Danes and Zoe Saldana.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Ashley's dress.

Ashley Olsen looks like she's playing dress-up in her mommy's dress.

I finally figured out what those Olsen girls always remind me of. They look like Edward Gorey orphans left trampled in the snow for some Brute to drag off and force them to make paper flowers.

Oh the Olsens do have an Edward Gorey look going on. Good call!

They also remind me of those Margaret Keane paintings from the 60's, the kids with the big eyes. Cute, but a bit on the creepy side.

She's pregnant AGAIN????

Is she trying to compete with that whacko that has 20 kids?

Damn, girl, slow down!!
