RuPaul's Drag Race S2 Auditions: Guess Who?

Darlings, we are thrilled to report that RuPaul's Drag Race is holding auditions for the next season and even more thrilled to report that the incomparable Hedda Lettuce is auditioning.

We guess this means that we'll be seeing more queens with a slightly higher profile for Season 2. That's fine by us. Check out her audition tape:

"I'm timeless, like a diamond."

"No one likes brunettes."

Oh god, she'd MAKE season 2.

Love her dress. Hedda looks great. Wonder who designed it?

I can't wait! S2 is going to be so much fun.

Season 2 is coming! I'm delighted!

And love Hedda. She's plenty awesome.

YES! She's going to rock that show.

Did anyone else catch her on Tyra's "Gay Kingdom" episode? She was hilarious and clever. Can't wait to see more.

This would definitely be for the publicity - as Hedda is already much more talented and gracious than Rupaul ever was.

Outside of Drag Races, when was the last time anyone ever cared about Rupaul? Remember her appearance on Project Runway, tired! Even now, her current single "CoverGirl" couldn't make top 15 on the club chart. She and her attitude (have you ever seen her handle fans in public - so beyond rude) are so 1993. Don't even get me started on her "live" performances.

Will Drag Races become like Project Runway - where established performers will get on the show to promote themselves for more national bookings - just as Project Runway is a stage for established designers to get funding to start their line? I think the charm of first season was finding unknown drag queens to mold into superstars.

As for Hedda, Logo would do better to give her her own show. If you've ever seen one of Hedda's multimedia performances, she blows Rupaul FAR out of the water.

Think she's great, hope she packs something besides green.

I also hope the show will mix things up a bit, too, and not go after another RuPaul Redux.

Drag queens aren't stupid. Why would they want to compete if the same kind of Queen keeps winning?

Still, going on a show like that? This dame's got balls! Can't wait.

I hope she makes it. But it would be even better if she, instead, got hired to read the news on CNN.

Oh please! Don't dis RuPaul!
She's making this happen and she was fab in season 1. Loved her!

So shady!

Eagerly Awating S2.

Hello Anon-9:31
There are a lot of us who still care about Ru and we also think she is talented...very.
I won't go to cast aspersions as you seem want to do, but I for one, as well as several people I know have less than positive feelings for the Bitter Green One. I thought The Drag Race was suppossed to help some fresh new ladies break and take their talent to the next level. Hedda has already had her chance(s). I guess you can't fault her for trying.

Can. Not. Wait! I hope Hedda gets on the show. She's fabulous!

Hedda Lettuce? Hey, girl, give somebody else a chance.

*gushes inarticulate Hedda love*

Oh God! You know who I'd LOVE to see? Velma or Vedna or whoever that other queen was...the one in the pink sailor jumpsuit on PR. I remember those tasty, tasty photos TLo posted...yum.

Love Hedda though, I think it'd be awesome if she made it! I think what nobody realizes is that even though New York is "making it big," it's not worldwide exposure.

Why should she do that?

As long as there is no "Headda Ocean" I'm fine with it!

OH MY GOD that would be so fucking AWESOME!!!!

I'll just wait and see.

Hedda didn't exactly say the nicest things about Ru when she was a PR judge.

Just for the drama alone!

That would be so cool.

"I'm almost edible."

ROFL. She's fabulous!!!!

I can't really comment on what you say about Rupaul because I don't really know, but Hedda Lettuce isn't exactly known for being friendly or nice, if you know what I mean. And I say that completely apart from her appearance on PR. I have met her a couple times here in NYC (I have a couple friends that are drag queens) and Hedda is straight-up nasty.

I was going to cut my cable to save some funds, but since S2 is coming...and if Hedda's going to be there...Screw it, I'll live off of Ramen

anon said "Outside of Drag Races, when was the last time anyone ever cared about Rupaul?"

Oh please. Rupaul is a star. And there are many devouted fans out here, myself included.

As for Hedda? I didn't care for her on PR and I hope Drag race 2 is not going to be a platform for her all about me antics again.

Please God No.

It's reasons like this why I hate TLo.

I read the recaps long enough until I end up watching the show. Like I don't have enough to do!

:0)

hm but she's already famous, which could count against her don't you think

Ru put on a FABULOUS show in Austin this past spring, first time I'd ever seen her live. There was a line around the block to see her, she stayed another night to accomodate the fans that didn't get to see her. Seems pretty classy to me.

I have mixed feelings about Hedda; she's such a force I think it'd be hard for anybody to compete against her and yet I'd LOVE to watch 'em try. Of course, I don't really see her responding well to criticism so that might be her downfall. See, I'm already assuming she's in, but why wouldn't she be???

I agree Logo should give Hedda a show of her own. Or even better, Gotham Tomato's idea: I'd TOTALLy watch CNN if Hedda were reading the news!

I am going to agree with those who say that Hedda is perhaps a bit too established to be a contestant on the Drag Race. It seems to me that the show is supposed to turn a fledgeling drag performer into a star...and Hedda already is one!

What should really happen is that they should give Hedda her own show on Logo...perhaps a Bitchy Queen version of "The Soup?" I'd totally watch that!

Sewjourner said: "Hedda Lettuce? Hey, girl, give somebody else a chance."

I'll second that. I thought the point of the show was to "find the next drag superstar." La Verde already is a superstar - wasn't she in that "famous queens" montage in the RPDR S1 Finale? (If not, she should have been).

Now, if Ru wants to have Hedda as a guest judge, that would be perfect. I say, get a big-name drag queen to guest judge each episode. Themed costume: Hedda Lettuce. Sewing challenge: Brini Maxwell. Kabuki drag challenge: bring back Nina Flowers.

LOVE. HER.

I'd pay good money to see Hedda Lettuce and RuPaul in the same room.

YAY! They have to pick her.

That is a f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s idea. I love Brini Maxwell.

Honey, Hedda Lettuce is an attention whore. Why do you think she's auditioning for the show? She saw how much attention she got on PR.

I need more outfits for when I don't want to have to shave my tits.

When she doesn't make it you know we'll be hearing about it. She'll milk it for all the publicity she can and hatefully slag Rupal off at the same time: a total win for Hedda. She'll act all indignant and self righteous and then be cackling and rubbing her hands in glee once no one is looking. Too bad anyone will look in the first place. ~Me Again

Ugh. Count me among those who will NOT be happy if she gets picked for the show.

Did NOT like her on PR, liked her even less reading post-PR interviews.

She leans too much on that "mean girl" drag thing that is SO very tired. And cheap.

Not sure I'm happy about the thought of Hedda on the show. Can she put her ego aside to jump through hamster hoops or will she be Shanell 2.0?

OMG this is fantastic news, I am SO happy! Hedda will rock season 2 - if not win it outright!

Hedda has too much of an ego for my taste. Give me Bebe, Ongina, or Nina any day.

She turned me off on Project Runway. I'm sure she'll have some great one-liners and create a lot of drama, but I'm just not a fan.

However, I tend to give people second (and third, and fourth...) chances so she could win me over.

Somebody was trying to remember Varla Jean Merman's name. S/he'd be fabulous, too.

Hedda in DRS2? Count me in. S/he's very talented.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Hedda being a contestant even though she has achieved much success already in NY. There is much world outside NY who really don't know much about her and can't wait to see her on the show. As for RuPaul being over or not, I don't care really, her show is highlighting talented drag queens and bringing them to masses of people who have probably never even seen a real drag show and for that i applaud her!

I still treasure Hedda's takedown of Suede in Season5 of PR.

I love Hedda Lettuce. She's one of the talented and successful drag queens out there. She needs to be crowned The Next Super Drag Queen.

They didn't use any of the New York City drag queens that applied last season, and probably for a good reason: NYC drag queens would clean up. I know Ericka Toure Aviance and a few others applied and weren't looked at, despite being much more qualified than some of the competitors that got on. I'm sure RuPaul knows Hedda already anyway, how could she do an impartial judging?

"When you don't want to shave the tits or you've had too much roast beef"

She's my kinda drag queen!

I'd rather see Ms. Varla Jean Merman.

Kaitlin, I saw Hedda on Tyra too! I totally loved her on it.

"Organic" lettuce. So cute!

I'd rather see some new girls than someone who is already established and is a known quantity. Just think, we could have missed out on Nina, Bebe, or one of the others last year if Hedda had gotten their spot.

I think Hedda would have trouble fitting herself into some of the challenges, too.

She must be desperate to audition, first of all, especially for a show hosted by her archrival whom she seemingly detests or holds in contempt. I doubt Ru will pick her.

WOO HOO! Season 2!

Yes! You just made may day TLo!

This is a bad idea. She's already established, and is probably doing this for some free publicity.

I doubt she would be a good little girl for Ru, and she would certainly stir up shit among the younger, greener queens. In short, she would be the Jeffrey Sibelius of the show. Jeffrey didn't need PR, he already had a business; he did it for the ego.

She's been around forever. If she can't parlay her own show on Logo by now, she shouldn't try to pee on someone else's. Although the thought of a grinning RuPaul telling Hedda to "sashay, away" almost makes it worthwhile...they'd have to carry her out of there.

I would love to see Hedda in S2...but I also feel that it wouldn't be much of a competition if she were in it. I'm torn.

been a BIG fan of hedda for many years - would LOVE to see her on the show! already routing for her to win!

btw - what are the chances of more big names coming in for S2? would just die to see a bunch of old favorites come out and fight for the crown!

hey, bravo! season 2 - NOW please! <3
