In or Out: Sarah Jessica Parker

Poodles, during one of our twice-daily board meetings here at T Lo Media International, we both agreed that it would be a good idea to take a break from SJP for a while. We were getting sick of her and since, in our opinion, she hasn't really been putting the effort out lately, we figured you were all sick of us ragging on the poor girl.

But then, a funny thing happened.

Sarah Jessica Parker out with her family in New York wearing a Jonathan Saunders dress and Pierre Hardy shoes.

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2009 Collection
Model: Jessica Stam

Pierre Hardy Metallic Strappy Platform Lace-up Shoes

She looks great! Not we're-being-polite great, but honest-to-god great! Love the dress; it fits her, it flatters her, it's got a little sparkle to prevent boredom. Love the hair and makeup (best both have looked in a long while); love the jewelry, and only kinda like the shoes. They're a little on the busy side, but who cares? For the first time in a long time, she made a bunch of good choices and she looks soft and pretty - youthful even - and the overall effect is ....she looks great! Pregnancy, especially someone else's, really agrees with her.

The shoes are a big IN for me, I would wear them every day if a pair showed up at my house unexpectedly.

The dress is appropriate, which is something that I hardly ever think when I see SJP. Good for her, finally!

LOVE the shoes. LOVE the dress. In and IN.

Good heavens! Are you sure that's SJP and not her stylish, yet previously unknown, twin?

I think the shoes work with the dress. Yes, they are a bit busy, but as the dress is fairly simple they don't fight much.

I'm not a big fan of the shows, but they are interesting so I'll give her a pass. LOVE the dress though. Cute LBD w/ interesting detail :). IN

Wonder if she made her own styling choices? I am begining to think she has more than one stylist becuase her looks from event to event are not cohesive with a decisive point of view.

Rachel Zoe, love her or hate her, has a trade nark cohesivness with a decisive point of view no mater which celeb she is dressing.

Sarah's actually a kissin' cousin of mine, though I am in more contact with her step-father than I am with her. I've asked him more than once about the face-lift question, and he says she has had none. Take it for what it's worth, from a shirt-tail relative.

As to Sarah's look, I think the hair, makeup and dress all are lovely and are major wins. The shoes, while I am no fan of the Gladiator look, add some color and are fashionable, so they work for me.

All the best,

NDC

She looks really good. And I don't much ever say that about SJP!
Love the dress, hair and makeup, not so much the shoes, but they do work with the overall look.

IN. Gorge.

I don't really think, she's had a face lift, simply, that for a change she looks happy and content and has made the right styling choices, which makes her look more youthful. I love the dress on her and I adore the shoes, but would prefer them in my own wardrobe... Oh well, they DO go well with her outfit to... ;)

"Pregnancy, especially someone else's, really agrees with her"

This comment went right over my head. What am I missing? Is a surrogate having her child?

Okay, I'll bite. What does this mean?:

"Pregnancy, especially someone else's, really agrees with her."

Hate the shoes, btw.

OK, OK, i googled and got my answer:

"Sarah Jessica Parker, 44, and Matthew Broderick, 47, are expecting twin girls via a surrogate. In a statement, their reps announced, "Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate. The entire family is overjoyed."

Oh. Thanks, Anon. 11:13

Was there not an announcement in the media that SJP and MoBo were getting divorcd due to his infidelity or do I need to put the crack pipe down.

Gorgeous! And how fabulous does she look with her natural brunette hair?

"Sewing Siren said: She's had a major face lift!"

No, I don't think so.

I can spot plastic surgery a mile away, and she does NOT look like she's had a face lift.

Enhh...

I think you should've stuck to your original idea to stop talking about her for a while.

I'm beyond sick of her.

"Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate."

aka, "I'm way too famous and vain to gain weight for another child."

"I'm beyond sick of her."

And yet, you clicked the link. I'm just saying.

I think she looks happy. That's what has been missing for a long time. Well, that and decent hair and makeup and clothes and .... okay.

Yes, I did. Thanks for noticing.

Wow, she looks really good.

She has not a "face lift" per se, but she has definitely had some work done recently. Whether it was lasering, a thread lift, extensive skin resurfacing, or some combination of the three, she definitely looks 'fresher.' However she was judicious about it and she still looks like her. I think it's great.

Lol. More like aka "My husband is gay and is too busy with his boyfriend to touch my vgina." SJP is about the least vain celebrity out there, if you haven't missed the legion of papparazzi shots of her wandering around NYC like a slovenly bag lady.

That sounds about right. He does have an utter look of repulsion when he's with her, dosen't he?

bitchybitchybitchy

IN! SJP genuinely looks good in this-as Jess said, she's wearing an appropriate dress, and love the shoes

IN

Finally...

I hope it lasts...

She looks fantastic. Love, love, love that dress, and her hair looks the best it ever has in her life.

What cruel comments about her surrogate pregnancy. She's in her mid-forties, so it's very possible she can't carry more children for health reasons. Let's not judge too hastily, eh?

I don't think she's had a facelift, but I do think she might have had a "tightening". I've suspected that she's been having those all along. It just seems that she couldn't have gone from baby fat face to this in just one step. Also, her forehead, which is usually wrinkled, seems to be Botoxed.

Love the dark, straight hair. That bleached blond frizzy ends look was really getting old.

The dress and shoes? I'm not really a fan of those shoes, but I'd have to say IN for this look. It at least looks feminine and presentable without being kooky. Hope she tries some light, bright colors next.

You know...it's not a face lift, because her "old face" problems have stemmed from looking haggard and drawn, not loose and saggy. A face lift would have made the skeletor look even WORSE...

I think she's gained weight! Just, like, 5 lbs or less...which she NEEDED. Her arms and face now look smoother, softer rather than like a stretched piece of leather...when a woman gets to A Certain Age, she actually looks younger if she carries a normal weight. Underweight might look gamine and waif-like on a 20-something, but on a 40-something, it's not cute.

The dress? IN. The bracelet? IN! The haircolor and makeup? BOTH IN, and finally well-suited to her natural coloring.

I think the shoes are hideous. But, truth be told, I usually feel that way about the shoes that almost everyone else here claims are "killer." So, obviously, my taste is not in current footwear fashion. I hate the shoes, ergo, they must be IN. Sigh.

"They had a lot of unsuccessful tries", to have another child. "They came to the conclusion that this was going to be the best alternative for expanding their family."

this is in several articles, quoted from "a family friend"

I am sure we all know way more than we have a right to. If babies make them happy, good for them.

Anon. 12:04 said, "What cruel comments about her surrogate pregnancy. "

Well said, thank you. Those comments bothered me, too. I don't think I'll ever understand why some people feel it's okay to say anything about someone just because they're famous. Fame goes with the territory for some people in some professions. It doesn't make them any less human, vulnerable, or complicated than the rest of us.

Well, I don't know what is so offensive about it. She knows her husband is gay. It's not like anybody screamed "This old bitch shouldn't be having kids!!!" or something like that. PS Don't issue PR announcements about your surrogate pregnancy if you don't want people to know or talk about it. It has to be the easiest type of pregnancy to hide.

Oh, and also, commenting on the pregnancy? HORRIBLE!!! Speculating on her plastic surgery? TOTALLY FINE. Uh, yeah. What's the substantive difference again?

Babies, in celebrity world, mean more press, without the hassle of gaining or losing baby weight.

I think she looks great.
The comments regarding her being "too famous and vain" to give birth to her own child are not only snarky but uninformed. 44 years old is a VERY risky age to be getting pregnant, mostly for the child's sake. I wish we could save the snarkiness for the clothes.

OH OH OH I really hate semi closed toe/basket weaved shoes with mini skirts, but I have to say IN. The dress fits her well, and her hair/makeup are right!

I think she looks very nice.

Not a big fan of the shoes in principle, but they go very well with the dress.

A nice big IN for SJP.

perfection. dress, shoes, jewelry, face, hair, legs.

The comments about her surrogancy are cruel. She's probably been trying to have another child for years and fighting secondary infertility along the way.

Not sure who the anonymous asshole (AA) is who keeps commenting about their having a surrogate carry their babies, as well as other speculation about their personal lives, but you should stick to something you know about. It's not about celeb convenience, or baby weight - it's about them wanting more children (for years) and not being able too. A celeb couple is no different than any other in that. Do you have first hand knowledge of her medical history? No? Then shut the fuck up.

As for AA's claims about it being celeb publicity, they did not come forward with anything about this until the tabloids broke the story and they were forced to respond. They live near me and go about their lives quietly, maintaining their dignity despite being continually staked out & stalked by paparazzi scum always laying in wait for them, near their home.

And if you're so sick of SJP, then why are you torturing your poor self by posting to a thread about her?

What is with disgusting comments like this? What exactly makes you think your "insights" on total strangers reasons for having babies via a surrogate are valid?

SJP looks fabulous here. She doesn't always. We comment on her horrible clothes at times because it's just fashion, and because we have the evidence right in front of us. The face-lift isn't something I have a problem with discussing necessarily, because again, it's all material, although I do think insisting that she has based on a few pictures is a bit strange. But speculating on her motives in wanting more children is just...pathetic.

TLo provides a fun outlet for us to bitch and go googoo gaga over clothes-if you want to get personal, head over to Perez Hilton.

@Gotham Tomato...sorry to basically echo some of your comments there...posted my rant a moment after you and now I feel like the Overkill Police :)

Okay, I don't have any insider knowledge that she's had work done and I am including all the various other procedures (that other posters have mentioned)under the old fashioned umbrella term "face lift".
But she looks different( kind of like Tracy Pollan looked in her early 30's) now. She was starting to resemble Madonna and before that, when she was shooting the SATC movie she was starting to look like Patrica Wetting, which I believe was the way her natural aging process was headed. Maybe I'm wrong, I have been before..

Not only are the comments about the surrogacy cruel, but the comments about SJP's husband being gay are cruel, too.

That all stemmed from Nathan Lane joking around on the movie set of "The Producers" that Matthew was "even gayer than I am." Nathan was just being over-dramatically silly and ribbing a good friend. Nobody has ever caught even a whiff of an actual gay scandal about Matthew, ever.

One poster seems to be dedicated to starting a war of words by making these hateful comments.

I suggest we all just ignore her.

awwww, how sweet, she really does look good. Dark hair is better, not too much makeup, dare I say it, not a fashion victim?

GothamTomato, why don't YOU shut the fuck up for once? You always act like such a know-it-all when you're talking out of your ass just like everyone else. I don't care if you live near them. I actually DO know Matthew Broderick, and he is gay. But of course, I'm sure that I'm lying because I don't choose to flaunt that I live in Manhattan near A, B, and C and know D, E, and F in my blog title, profile, and everything I write here, right? Continue believing everything you read as long as it conforms to your non-changing life view. It's worked so 'well' for you up to this point.

PS I never said I am sick of SJP. I like her. Way to read what I actually wrote while you were too busy being filled with self-righteous indignation.

And, um, again, it is stupid to rip apart her clothing and personal appearance but then claim that mentioning her family is "too personal." Riiiight.

Once again, the rules apply to everyone except you.

But of course, anyone who disagrees with you is out of line, right?

Matthew Broderick is still gay

I am the anon who called him gay. I did not post the anon comment at 3:07.

However, if you will note, I did not make any comments about other people's posts or even say anything slightly disrespectful until GothamTomato got in my face telling me to "shut the fuck up" because she sees them occasionally near her home and is apparently the only person allowed to live in New York City.

Whether or not you believe me about him being gay, boo hoo, I don't care. I just threw it out there just as many people have added to the conversation. But yes, everybody, please side with GothamTomato even though she was the one telling people what they can and can't say. The herd mentality here is so ridiculously entertaining sometimes. It's practically a sociology experiment.

I think Elaine may be on to something...SJP's face does look a little bit fuller/softer, so maybe she has added a pound or two.

Her makeup is better than usual, too: softer = more youthful.

Definite IN this time.

BEFORE YOU JUDGE THE SURROGACY-- After age 35, it becomes more difficult to get preganant with every passing year. SJP is 44. Therefore, it is likely impossible for her to conceive and/or carry a pregnancy to term. Also, there is a very high risk of a chromosomal abnormality. That being said, even if she were in her 20s, we should not assume a person is using a surrogacy for vanity's sake. We don't know these people.
As for her husband being gay - almost 20 years ago, he totally scoped me; I am female.

Lol, ooh yes. Because people never read things into looks that aren't actually there. Thanks for that empirical evidence from a quarter of a century ago.

"Anon said: I did not make any comments about other people's posts or even say anything slightly disrespectful until GothamTomato got in my face telling me to "shut the fuck up""

No, you only said (among other things regarding SJP):

'I'm beyond sick of her.'

'aka, "I'm way too famous and vain to gain weight for another child."'

'More like aka "My husband is gay and is too busy with his boyfriend to touch my vgina."'

'That sounds about right. He does have an utter look of repulsion when he's with her, dosen't he?'

'Babies, in celebrity world, mean more press, without the hassle of gaining or losing baby weight.'

Yeah, nothing disrespectful there at all.

And btw, just for the record, I don't think mentioning that someone is Gay is an insult (though I don't understand how it benefits the movement to have people dragged out of the closet kicking & screaming). I only think that to do it from behind a cloak of anonymity lacks cahones.

--GothamTomato

You have to admit it's pretty funny when Anons get upset because they are (supposedly) confused with other Anons.

--GothamTomato

Regarding the response to my anecdote about Broderick scoping me --
"Lol, ooh yes. Because people never read things into looks that aren't actually there. Thanks for that empirical evidence from a quarter of a century ago." --

The point of my little story is that, since the fact that MB and SJP have been married for a good number of years is not proof enough for some enough that he is straight, I offered my little story as a tiny counter to the rumor-as-fact-mill. Yes, I am well aware that it will make no difference in the world.

But of course, I'm sure that I'm lying because I don't choose to flaunt that I live in ManhattanBecause nobody's allowed to say where they live if they live in Manhattan...? I see Cynthia Nixon on the 1 train. Am I now "flaunting" that I live on the UWS? Leave GothamTomato alone, you bitter old queen.

Hm, something happened with my formatting. Oh well! SJP looks fab, anyway. I think she looks youthful more because for once her hair and makeup aren't scary as hell, and when you're comfortable and wearing appropriate things, you look prettier. Fact of life.

" BrianB said: I love the side part, it takes years off her! Sometimes a good hairstyle is all the face lift you need."

I totally agree. Every woman comes to an age where a center part becomes less flattering. Recently I changed from a center part to a side part, and suddenly people kept saying, 'wow your hair looks great, what did you do?' And all I did was move my part one inch to the right.

Sorry GothamTomato. I am not "upset" that you confused me with those but I didn't say any of those things. Why everyone thinks that all the anons have to be one person is beyond me. Is it because it's so disturbing to believe more than one person would disagree with you? Once the confusion started I started using this name. There ya go, hon. PS You are anonymous too. Unless you're about to post your real name and address here or something, which we all know would be dumb. Not sure what you really expect of me. PS It's 'cojones.'

And Carlabarla, no, it's not the fact she mentions where she lives (incessantly). Sarah Jessica does commercials for a hair dye line, and in one of them she just looks stunning in a darker hair shade. I'm impressed that she's trying it here - it actually makes her look a lot younger. I hope she keeps it up.

That's it for me today. Seeing all this squabbling has really worn me down. And the perpetrator is now apparently posting both as an anon and as Mathew Broderick is Still Gay. Move on, people.

*Breathing in.* *Breathing out.*

*Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.*

Enough already with the gay rumors. Unless you are going to step up to the plate and provide proof, you're just another gnat feeding the rumor mill.
The larger issue is WHO CARES? I certainly don't...

I love this dress, but I think I like her better blond.

Argggh. Some of you kittens are making me tired today. Did we miss our naps this weekend?

Although, I enjoyed the Freudian slip from Ally:

"I'm not a big fan of the shows, but they are interesting so I'll give her a pass. Love the dress, though."

Not a fan of the shows OR the shoes, but SJP looks pretty here.

The shoes...can I rant for a moment?

Although I'm not a resident of Gotham City, I've lived in cities all my life. Cities have sidewalks. Sidewalks have cracks, curbs and grates. Unless your life is one endless red carpet,

WOULDN'T YOU BE RISKING LIFE AND LIMB TRYING TO WALK IN THESE SHOES?

What about dog poo, gum, and assorted garbage?

Could she walk through Central Park using her stiletto heels to stab paper trash and aerate the grass?

And steel heels? She can't sneak up on anybody in steel heels.

I LOVE Gotham Tomato !!!

Dearest Tomato,

I am sending you the new Jessica Kagan Cushman bracelet. It says " You can agree with me or you can be wrong" !!

I was in Manhattan two weeks ago, should have met you for drinks and given it to you then. I always look for your postings here because you are witty, acerbic, and RIGHT !!

So there Anon/Matthew Broderick is still gay !!

And may I point out what is obvious to all here but you; if he is gay, who cares ?

A good thing you know how to spell cajones; I am sure knowledge of the word is all you have.

She looks wonderful-I absolutely love her hair shade-she really should keep it forever! And please be kind to her-as someone who is also thin and of the same age, I know how painful it is to not be able to control how gaunt our face looks sometimes. My face sinks around the eyes and mouth at certain parts of my cycle, and it completely bites. I think we can all relate to how painful it is to have a visual of ourselves looking a certain way and it being different from what looks back at us in the mirror!

I wonder, would people say nasty things about a non-celebrity who chose to add to their family through surrogacy? Or might you have a little compassion for what they likely went through that led to that decision? Why not accord the same compassion to a celebrity?

I'm struck by those posters who say they're sick of her.

To me, her always trying to look too young and failing has gotten really tired. But this, folks, pops my eyeballs wide open.

She's interesting again!

Love, love, love the hair color and straighter. It makes her features look more balanced and glowing.

CanIGetYouAnything?

She looks gorgeous. The . End.

Looks like she's getting her act together just in time for the twins.

I like it. She looks effortlessly well put together.

I love that dress. I want it

Re: the face lift speculation.

A lot of the stuff people are attributing to the face lift could just be the result of angle, lighting, lens, posture, and expression. These kinds of conditions make it pretty hard to judge a person's facial topography exactly, especially only from a single (or pair of) photographs.

Remember those pics of Victoria Beckham looking like her head was three sizes too big for her body? It can go the other way too. It's possible they just snapped her at a good time and at a good angle.

How about that Balmain jacket she's carrying? The same one she had draped over her shoulders in a most unflattering way a couple weeks ago (worn with bright pink shoes). Lesson learned? Wear or carry, don't drape.

IN IN IN

I love the dress, her jewelry and those shoes!!! Oh My! I love love love those shoes!

Wow. For once, I can appreciate Broderick's taste in women. IN! (though the shoes are a tad busy for the dress... they'd be much better with simple slacks or a longer dress, I think)

She looks fab for the first time in a long time. Good for her.

Also TLO, I know you are busy as hell and amazing but I wish there was something you could do about all of these crazy comment posters. I used to enjoy the comments as well as the posts but now every topic turns into a catty internet fight which has completely turned me off to reading the comments.

:(

I think this might be the first time I've seen her looking good, she looks great, big IN

and I need those shoes...

Big IN. Love everything, especially the dress, it's lovely and looks great on her. P.S., her new fragrances are very nice too, especially Twilight, very soft and feminine. Just throwing that out there for the perfume fans! :)

Finally, hair color that looks decent on her. She must have escaped the clutches of Garnier.

This is how I always knew she could look if she only tried. The hair softens her face, finally!

Overall great look, 100% IN.

She is so cute sometimes, whens he gets her makeup and hair right she looks so young sometimes!
