ELLE Italia: Dame e Cavalieri

Time for pretty, kittens! Open wide!

Y'know, we keep looking at these pictures and clothes and frankly, we've got nothing to add except to say that godDAMN, those European stylists and editors know what the hell they're doing!

(Click picture to enlarge)

Is that a breathtaking picture or what?

Not in love with this one, though. Looks a little too Fifth Element.

Damn, you bitches are up EARLY!

Great spread!

After viewing this georgous editorial layout, no doubt in my mind that Sandhurst will have a long career.

Love the contrast of black, white and metallic.

TampaBay

The Armani Prive looks a litte too Cruella de Ville to me, unless they do a sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada"

Everything else, GORGEOUS.

GORGEOUS! Simply GORGEOUS!

Is that a chick in that first LaCroix?

TLo said...We love every single look in this spread with the exception of that one Armani Privé. The rest of it? Gorgeous. And even that one is much improved in the editoral, who would have thought white tights would do the trick...and of course *I * like the shiny, shiny blue suit.

"This is how they do pilates in Italy"
hahahaha
Thank you for the Monday Morning sound bite
gorgeous as always

This is really beautiful. The more I look at that Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection the more I like it.

SS,

I think TLo is referring to the other Armani Privé. The metallic dress and white tights look great.

TLo,

Could you please clarify?

Thanks!

TampaBay

White tights improved both the Armani and the Channel. (Versace, not so much.) And here, I thought white tights were just for nurses.

On the runway, I thought both Lacroix and Dior were stuck in the Renaissance. I guess I wasn't the only one who thought that way. "Roberto, find me a castle and fencers, per favori!"

I have to thank "Make Me a Supermodel" for raising my appreciation of the high quality modelling in this shoot.

The Gautier dress is nice, except for the snatch shot (as Tim Gunn would say)

a third laura

Romance is back!

Love the sepia tones, the wonderful muscles & poses of the acrobatic fencers, and the insane modelling.

This just made my Monday.

I think the whole spread is marvelous. Graceful men in white go with everything.

BTW, the Valentino? Faaaabulous. I want it.

OMG..absolutely MAGNIFICO!!!
I'm having heart palpitations from the sheer beauty of these shots.
I don't care for either Armani Prive or the white accessories (especially that HAT) in the photo with the black Atelier Versace (though I LOVE the dress!).
The Jean Paul Gaultier is fantastic, except some strategic lining under the skirt would be more, uhhhh, to my taste.....
The Valentino is my favorite. How gorgeous is that????
What a wonderful, wonderful treat on this Monday morning!! Thank you SOOOOO much, TLo!!!

another laura

I'm in total agreement with you, guys. But for the purple Amani Preve, the dresses are to die. Especially the Dior and LaCroix because I'm a sucker for a fab gown that I'll never ever get a chance to wear. And the Chanel and Valentino are just right up my alley.

Thanks, guys!

Doesn't The Fashion Show start this week, bitches?

STUNNING!

And that's why I love fashion and you bitches!!

This is such a treat. Thank you for your hard work putting these posts together, Tlo!

Love it! I have to go back and look at it again and again : )

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

The Valentino is TO DIE FOR.

too many cats

Are the models' tights being worn over shoes?

The sequence of photos is stunning. The men are muscled but not overly so. On one or two photos, I didn't even notice the styles.

By muting the style colors, they made a sequence. But maybe that took something away from the original artists/designers creations?

Omg. The fencing is strikingly... correct, for a photoshoot! But of course, they know how it is on the other side of the pond. Love!

LOL. Indeed.

Breathtaking (including the bulges)!

Well, I suspected that. That's why I added this little self depreciating remark.."and of course *I* like the shiny, shiny blue suit." I can't help myself. I know it is tacky, yet I like it still. :)

SS,

The blue coat is not tacky, however, the styling on the model is another story. Now the hat is TACKY! Looks like it came from a third rate used costume shop or the Salvation Army 10 Cent table.

TampaBay

OMG, this is breathtakingly beautiful. The gowns are fantastically styled and the shoots are amazing.
As someone else already commented, the fencing looks astoundingly correct - at least for the stage situation of a photo shoot.
Now that's a fencing class I'd really love to attend...

It is a real education to see the runway shot juxtaposed with the editorial/action shots. The editorial certainly isn't what you could call "real life", but the clothes look vastly better and more wearable in almost every case.

The Valentino = Barbie dress

Still gorgeous, still Barbie.

An army fit for Fabulon!

Did you guys remove the Vogue Italia post? When I click on the link from my "blogs I'm following" page, I get "Sorry, the page you were looking for in the blog Project Rungay does not exist."

We mistakenly posted it as VOGUE Italia and decided to repost it with the correction.

Guess that's what happens when you post so early in the morning! (Pre-caffeine?)

;-)

Actually, I thought the first Amarni Prive had potential - just needs to be made up in something other than deep purple wet plastic -looking stuff. The lines were kinda interesting.

The second Armani Prive? Too Judy Jetson.

No rape or racism here, just tanned men in tights.

Lovely. Thanks so much, TLo.

(Our - USA! USA! - mags suck, don't they?)

Don't be sad desertwind. Italian Vogue even makes british and french Vogue look like mail order catalogues.

Hey, look! A way to explore positive and negative space, black and white and drama, WITHOUT playing into racist stereotypes! OMG! no wai!

I see this is Elle, same rule applies..the Italians do fashion editorial to a fine art.

First little pic at the top - what's with the chin bandage?

This looks like something to wear to bed so you never get a double chin from snoring with your mouth open.

Weird.

Not surprised those are Afanador photos. They just...move.

LOVE IT!
Thank you for sharing this with us.
I love the JPG--
it looks even better in the editorial.

Magnificent!!

The men are hot, the dresses divine, the photos exquisite. Fab post, bitches!

I love the editorial. So much form and a lot to look at in each image.

Honey, you need to take a history lesson pronto!

The editorial is gorgeous, the styling is inspired and the models are working it. Also, love the italian quotes, especially the Armani quote.

So beautiful!

Weird.
The chin strap might be referencing the wimple, which was worn 12th century Europe by married women and by certain orders of nuns until Vatican II. But since the dress is referencing the Louis XIV period ( or mid 17th century), it is far from obvious. It certainly could be an antisnore device. Who knows?
