PR Season 6/7 Update

Let's get caught up on the latest Project Runway news, bitches.

Tim Gunn got cornered by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and had this to say, among other things:

"You want to know what's really holding up the start date," asked Gunn. "Bravo has a new show on called The Fashion Show. And Lifetime doesn't want to start until that is over with. I guess they think people won't watch two fashion shows. I don't know why. I would."

(So would we, Tim!)

"There is one challenge where the outcome will send the blogs reeling. It is unprecedented in Project Runway history. I am still full of incredulity about the whole thing - about who wins and who goes home. All I can tell you a certain judge says she would like to wear the winning dress. Well, you know we auction off the winning dresses at the end of the show for charity. I am going to bid and get that dress and make her wear it. I don't care how much it costs, I'm going to get it. This challenge is spine-tingling. You will be spellbound. My jaw was in a slack state."

E! Online tells us:

"Project Runway will return to New York City for its seventh season. Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer."

In a story entitled "Heidi Klum: Pregnant With Fourth Child!"

Okay, that last bit isn't exactly PR news, but if we didn't post it, we'd NEVER stop getting emails telling us to post it. Anyway, Yay! New York!

There. Consider yourselves caught up. Discuss.

Leave it to Lifetime to jerk the show around a little more. So I take it the June start date is now defunct.

Screw 'em. I'm watching The Fashion Show.

But now I'm all mouth-watery over this little morsel. Oh, how I miss Miss Gunn!

And congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Seal. I knew she was dying to add another kitten to the litter. She's really giving Laura a run for her money, isn't she?

I too would watch 2 fashion shows. If for no other reason to discuss them both and compare them! I was hoping that TLo could blog about both of them at the same time.
Lame Lifetime--

Maybe they are afraid that PR won't stand up well compared to The Fashion show?

I'd like to watch both too. But Lifetime shouldn't care about The Fashion Show. They promised that Project Runway was going to come last year. Why wait any longer?

Of course we'd watch both shows! Silly Lifetime.

But TLO the real burning question is:
is Laura Bennett really getting her own show on Bravo????

that's silly lifetime isn't airing PR right away. if they aired both at the same time, PR for sure would get better ratings. i'd watch both shows as well.

OMG, Lifetime just continues to show how douche-y they are. Those of us that watch all these fashion shows would definitely watch both at the same time. I'm almost ready to say to Lifetime, I'm so over you. Ugh.

hahha congrats to heidi and seal! the new season of project runway just wouldn't be the same without her being pregnant and glowing , glad to see the tradition is continuing. :D

Now I REALLY can't wait for the new season of PR. I mean, when Tim Gunn thinks you've gone too far, you've gone too far.

I can't wait! I love this show!!

I'm glad they're coming back to NY. Every designer gets inspired by NY.

why can't they just start it now
it's so wrong to make everyone wait

another laura

I didn't think it would be possible to hate the move to Lifetime any more. But I do. Shame on them for delaying PR further.

potty mouth princess

At this rate, S7 will be in the can (including the finale - if done for Spring '10 in September) before S6 airs its first episode.

Hey Lifetime, see my middle finger? That's for you.

Why, Lifetime, why? People watch ANTM & MMaSM. Lifetime actually looks unsure of themselves by delaying the start of the season in favor of TFS.

I would watch FIVE fashion shows if they had them. Anyway, I'm just happy this show is back. I really miss it.

I would definitely watch both shows but I've found LifetimeTV to be run by semi-moronic types in general (other shows have been screwed by them, which is why I despaired when I heard PR was moving there) so it doesn't surprise me that they're so short-sighted. I mean, won't that just put PR opposite Top Chef or Make Me A Supermodel or whatever other show Bravo comes up with?

And maybe I'm wrong but hasn't PR always been NYC based? It's Top Chef that moves around.

I don't understand why we have to wait. Everything is going to look dated by the time they air season 6.

My eyes are in a rolling state. Just show the dang show, Lifetime!

Project Runway fans WOULDN'T watch two shows? Are they mad? So long as they're not aired on the same night, same time slot, we're GIDDY with the prospect of two!

That's MIZZ Gypsy To You! -

I believe season 6 of PR was filmed in LA. The fact that they are already announcing a move back to NYC indicates to me that filming in LA was a mistake.

Jeez, people, who cares about PR? You've all missed the most interesting part of the article; to wit: "[Tim Gunn] just bought a two-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan".

He's moving from the Chelsea to the Upper West Side???? What's that about??

It's about moving from a closet-sized apartment to one in which he can actually breathe and move about, now that he's actually making a decent living wage.

Lifetime clearly doesn't understand the passionate PR crowd. On the other hand, maybe they're just protecting their new franchise from Bravo suddenly programming Le Miz directly against it, same day same time slot.

If Bravo held up the move settlement until it had a brand new fashion show replacement in the can, I wouldn't put it past them to be just that mean, as well.

"Laura said: . . .I believe season 6 of PR was filmed in LA. The fact that they are already announcing a move back to NYC indicates to me that filming in LA was a mistake."

I agree. NYC is a fertile source for guest judges, fabrics, grads from the top fashion schools, etc. Also, it would be a lot easier on Tim Gunn.

"KJT said: Maybe they are afraid that PR won't stand up well compared to The Fashion show?"

Probably not that dire. PR producers have the advantage if they see Le Miz first. This crafty move gives the Magical Elves the option to quickly re-edit anything should the producers want to take a dig at The Fashion Show or place more emphasis on something.

Or to engage in a little one-upsmanship.

Tim always says that "it's the best," "never seen before," "unprecedented." We'll see...

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

I hope not every challenge is to design a dress for the red carpet or a Hollywood celebrity.

GothamTomato said: To quote the philosopher, Jerry Herman, 'It's so nice to have you back where you belong.'

Ah, that ever famous philosopher! Such gems as "I am what I am" and "It's today!" ;)

Anonymous 9:36 -

The question is not why is he moving from a one-bedroom luxury rental (that he moved to after he began making that probably more than decent wage) to buying a two-bedroom.

The question is why is he moving to the Upper West Side, considering that he is always going on about how "proud and thrilled" he is to live in Chelsea.

"The question is why is he moving to the Upper West Side, considering that he is always going on about how "proud and thrilled" he is to live in Chelsea."

Needed to go up there to get some decent space at a decent price? Nice tree-lined streets with actual neighborhood feel? A tad less likely to be mobbed by tourists? Really tired of living at the bottom edge of the garment district? A lot of his friends live up there? Great restaurants?

Could be any one of dozens of reasons. He may still be proud of Chelsea even though he's making a change.

Silly Lifetime. Tricks are for kids. They should just air the damn show and be done with it.

As for Mrs. Seal and her family, congrats to them.

As to Tim Gunn moving from Chelsea to the Upper West Side, space would seem to be the main reason. But, did he gain a doorman building (to keep the rabid PR fans at bay)?

Well, much as I'd just about die to see PR Season 6 starting right about now, it looks like Lifetime needs some lead time to work up a decent web site, here. Currently, it's pretty pathetic. We need some serious boards to bitch, moan, and chat before, during, and after PR episodes.

Otherwise, girls, THIS is the board from hereon in!

Touche' to Bravo for The Fashion Show. Greed will always lose out. Lifetime and Weinstein really screwed Project Runway. I know I won't be watching anymore. Lifetime's sexist stance on being the "network for women" is a little offensive considering the majority of the viewing population of PR is probably gay men. Then they show their fear by not scheduling their already finished show until after the competition finishes. Not that there is anything wrong with a network for women, but when you inherit a show, you hope to inherit their fans. Don't make them feel like outsiders.

No Lifetime for me and a few other folks I know. Cheers to Bravo for producing competition AND not hiding the fact that it's the same show. Just updated, fresher and probably more entertaining.

"Lilithcat said: He's moving from the Chelsea to the Upper West Side???? What's that about??"

Chelsea isn't what it used to be. It's become over-developed and over-run with tourists and bridge & tunnel crawlers.

I'd move to a different nabe myself if I could.

Lifetime is full of a bunch of middle-aged bitches who don't get any at home so they take it out on everyone else by being 'business minded'. Don't they realize this is beginning to spell out the end of Project Runway? You can only go so long without a new season before people get bored waiting. I'm sure they've already lost a host of casual fans and hardcore fans alone by moving to Lifetime. And I'm sure the repeated delays has lost them even more. By the time it does air, it's going to be the handful of us who read this blog, and the women who thought it was Golden Girls time tuning in. FAIL Lifetime. FAIL.

One thing the New York piece said about Laura was, "And then there's a show about ex–Project Runway contestant Laura Bennett, which will follow her as she raises six kids, chases her dogs around, has a husband, designs clothes, and somehow does her hair and makeup every day."

Did Laura get dogs? I thought she didn't like dogs.

What about all of us hetero male fans? Why must they emasculate us by putting it on the 'channel for women'. It's playing into he cliche that only women care about fashion. WRONG. Fashion is an art form that should be admired by everyone. Bravo did a good job of not marketing it to only one group, be it women, gay men, or straight men. I grimace at the thought of the season 7 contestants. How many Wendy Pepper types can they get in one season? Considering it's on a channel now that's known for their low budget murder mysteries and feel good shows watched primarily by women past their prime, I have a feeling that people like Leanne Marshal, Jillian Lewis, Daniel Vosovic, and Jay McCaroll won't even bother with it. Bravo, Bravo for Fashion Show. You have every right to put your blue flag in the fashion show genre. You earned your fans, don't let high strung bitches steal them away.

I agree, I can't stand it anymore. Even worse, freaking strollers everywhere now.

Oy. Don't even get me started on the strollers (& the narcissists pushing them)!

bitchybitchybitchy

Silly Lifetime - they obviously don't understand that we would watch both shows. What's not to love about more fashion/style shows on TV?

Come on, Lifetime. Don't be stupid. Of course we'd watch more than one fashion show at a time. There's litlte enough to watch that truly interests me, to begin with. Don't ration the fashion!

Fantastic! I cannot wait! Lots of drama, please.

I've been to the Lifetime website & it is atrocious. Dear Hubby & I call Lifetime the "I want my baby back" channel. ON OCCASION they have a decent show, but to think that only women are interested in PR is just crazy.

I'll watch both, but if the this year's talent on PR isn't any better than last year...I won't be back for a 7th.

This crafty move gives the Magical Elves the option to quickly re-edit anything should the producers want to take a dig at The Fashion Show or place more emphasis on something.Magical Elves aren't doing either show. When PR moved to Lifetime, they signed an exclusivity agreement with Bravo, but for some reason, they aren't doing The Fashion Show. :-/

I just find it hilarious that they are both working at Liz Claiborne - which one is the boss over there these days?

YES!!!!!

Why is TLo mum about the potential Bad Mommy show?

Possible CAMEOS?

Would you like to own one of the Project Runway dresses designed by PR Season 5 semifinalist Kenley Collins?

It is up for auction on eBAY:

see http://tinyurl.com/mmo9fm

It is eBAY item #300321011320

This is one of Kenley's handpainted dresses that drew raves from the judges.
