PR Season 6: Date Confirmed!

Darlings, Lifetime has finally released the start date for Season 6.

Andrea Wong, President and CEO, Lifetime Networks; Tim Gunn, Mentor on the hit reality show Project Runway; Nina Garcia, Project Runway Judge and Fashion Director of Marie Claire Magazine

"Lifetime Television sews up the summer with the highly anticipated Emmy®-nominated and Peabody® Award-winning hit series Project Runway, premiering on Thursday, August 20, at 10PM ET/PT. Produced by The Weinstein Company and Bunim-Murray Productions, host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors (leading fashion designer) and Nina Garcia (Fashion Director of Marie Claire Magazine), will guide sixteen new contestants as they show off their design skills to see who makes the cut for Fashion Week. Filmed in Los Angeles and New York, Project Runway also features influential guest judges from the worlds of fashion, music, film and television."

"Models of the Runway, an exciting new companion series, will air at 11:00PM ET/PT, beginning August 20, immediately following Project Runway. Each 30-minute episode will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the reality competition – from the models’ perspective. Viewers can experience the drama, anxiety, joys, tears and frustrations as the models themselves face elimination each week and compete for a cash prize and photo spread in Marie Claire magazine. "

We're liking the sound of that models show. Who wouldn't want a behind-the scenes take on things?

Tim gave us another of his patented tidbits:

"What can we expect from Season 6?

"It's a great season. I'll say there's a big-time shocker, some purported cheating . . . The blogs will be clogged. They won't be able to vent enough about it.''"

You know who we miss? Nina. We can't wait to do more NinaCaps. It's been far too long, kittens.

Nina caps - hooray!

I think I'm going to like the Models' show better than PR.

AUGUST?!?!?!? When the show's been in the can since February that is sad, just really really sad. booooo Lifetime.

I assume you guys will be recapping "Fashion Show" in the meantime?

I'm going to go cruise down memory lane in your PR archives to remind myself that I love(d) the show.

Umm that suit Heidi has on in that picture is FIERCE who's it by?

Oh yes, model screen caps. Can. Not. Wait!!!

Sorry, but that's too freakin' late.

C'est moi, c'est moi Lola

Yes, it HAS been too long since Nina graced these web posts. I hope the material is enough to provide you guys with something on par with her "...and that little bird must die" comment towards Mr. McDraperson!

Can't wait!

OK...I'm confused. Is this series starting in August the one that has been in the can for eons and that we have already seen the BP finale designs?
OR is it an entirely new series?
I cannot understand, IF it is the one already in the can and ready to be aired, WHY in the he// we have to wait until August. Is this another of Weinstein's cruel little tweaks???

Has a start date for The Fashion Show been confirmed as well? Something tells me that it will be the better of the two...

Finally. I am in withdrawal as is.

Love, love, love Nina caps!

August? Freaking August? Really? That's just cruel.

Yes, May 7th @ 10 p.m.

I'm guessing that the delay until August is to avoid going head-to-head with Bravo's new Fashion Show, also scheduled to run Thursday nights at 10 pm.

I can hardly wait. I've missed Tim, Nina, the Dutchess, and Heidi soooooooooo much!

I'm commenting on the fly here - busy day at Portia Central - but wouldn't an August start mean a finale in January - in time for a Fashion Week that is a year later than the one in which PR6 designers have competed (the anonymous, sorta flat (partially owing to no personalities to go with the collections) show)?

The synchronization is really off... How does the PR7 season, for which casting is about to start, fit in? Will PR7 people be in FW 2010? Is Lifetime no longer crafting PR to build up to a FW real-time finale?

If the latter (and we know that PR 6 has been dreadfully tangled so the former modus operandi is right out the window for IT), the show loses a lot of sizzle.

It's been so long since a reality skills competition has been on Bravo or Lifetime that one wonders how much audience attrition has occurred. As time passes, memory fades....

All the best,

NDC

Waiting until August: one of Bravo's cruel little twists. Didn't give permission for Weinstein to get its hands on Project Runway until it had an entirely new show in the can.

"Coincidentally," the new show is also about fashion, and just as "coincidentally," starts running in the hallowed Project Runway time slot just a few weeks from now.

"Coincidentally," we are all so PR-deprived that we'll be forced, FORCED, to watch Bravo's new show.

My guess is that delaying PR until the Fashion Show has aired its complete first season was probably an express requirement in the settlement between Bravo and the Weinstein company.

a question: I never watch Lifetime, so I have no idea about their shows' schedules: do they usually re-run the shows during the same week? Watching PR at Bravo was good, because if you missed it during the week you knew you could catch up any of the multiple re-runs before the next episode. Anyone knows if Lifetime does that with their shows? if not, it would be pretty bad.

Kasey,
That is what she wore to the season 6 finale back in February. TLo posted his name as Matthew Williamson, who incidentally is the same person who designed the la sirena sardine dress on the "Trends- Sequins" post from yesterday.

Thanks!! Soon! I have to find out if Stan is going to watch it.... And get an invite.

Hi Kasey,

Yes, Sewing Siren is right. You can read our post about it here.

TLo

CanIGetYouAnything?

I hope these poor designers get some press now.

Tim's starting to sound desperate. A shocking elimination! Cheating! The BLOGS are going to be all aflutter!

Really, I watch PR to see talented people make beautiful clothes under trying conditions, not for Jefferey v.2 or another shocking elimination (which...weren't we promised a shocking elimination in PR5 that never really got any traction?)

Imagine the sheer frustration of being bottled up by nondisclosure clauses for over a year!!!

No matter how they perform on the show, each of those designers deserves kudos for not letting out a single peep.

Tim is doing his job to market the show. That's not desperate, that's just business.

Soon we'll be seeing Heidi's face all over the press and print media publicizing the show.

Please, please give us monster doses of screen caps when the show finally airs.

Nina caps . . . I sigh in wistful memory and growing anticipation.

And, "Models of the Runway"!! Genius! The producers figure out how to mine the emotionally overwrought age range of teens to early 20s AND combine it with a proven skills-based "reality" show.

Somebody deserves a bonus. Plus, a lagniappe for TLo (& possibly other blogs, though I don't follow them)is overdue Who gave the show's fan base plenty of opportunity to demonstrate that many of us liked the insights into model drama? They pay media analysts money to figure stuff like that out. (Can't you just see the light bulbs lighting up over their pointed producery heads?)

(Okay, taking bets? Do the models make anything over their chance to be in the competition & on t.v. for now being the focus of their own show? Somehow I doubt it.)

aside from anyone leaving comments here, or reading the blog. Does lifetime think they will still have most of the original audience?

Chickensh!ts! is what I say

Perhaps now it's finally "ALSO a competition for the models as well."

Mr. Gunn, from the Miami Herald article TLo so graciously linked for us, about Christian Siriano:

"He so impressed us. I taught for 29 years [including the] Proenza Schouler boys. He's the only one I would say is a fashion prodigy. I think he's his generation's Marc Jacobs. I have every confidence of his continued ascension to greatness.''

Tee hee! I envision Christian manically embroidering that quote onto throw pillows for his apartment.

That's an interesting question. I have several friends who used to watch the show and talk about it all the time. Now they don't even mention Project Runway anymore. We'll watch what happens...on Lifetime.

Please, Christian is not even near Marc Jacobs' talent.

It's just Tim being Tim for the press.

Possibly. In my mind, all the more reason for Christian to hold those words close to his heart.

"You know who we miss? Nina. We can't wait to do more NinaCaps. It's been far too long, kittens."

Indeed. Feels like a Lifetime. :)
This show is not complete for me until I come here and read your recaps.

Ugh, but that pic above reminded me how much I hated Heidi in that awful, shrunken hot pink suit. I am one of these people who always thought Heidi could wear anything and look fantastic.
Um, I stand corrected.

I think that the court delay forced Lifetime's hands on scheduling. If they ran head to head, those of us who absolutely dispise Lifetime (in general) would rather watch The Fashion show. Both shows will be on Thursday night, not Wednesday. Probably the smartest move on Lifetime's part.

And I have no doubt that Bravo knew they might win the fight but lose the war as it were. If they held up the fight much longer, both shows would lose and they wouldn't get the cash.

SisterZip

I'm SO excited! My cable company doesn't carry Bravo so I'll actually get to watch it live. I haven't been able to since Season 3.

bitchybitchybitchy

August f**king 20th???? WTF is with Lifetime? That puppy should be out of the kennel much sooner!

Very good.

I love the idea of the model show! Woo!

Thanks for the update! I've now added it to my calendar, though I guess I'll have to figure out which channel Lifetime is on. sigh.

I'm with all the others in WTFBBQ?!?! on the delay.
Bastards.

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

Awesome!!! I can't wait, guys. And please, TONS of screencaps and hilarious commentary. I'm counting on you bitches.

The model's show sounds very interesting.

No, not August : ( I want it now.

I won't truly cheer until I can see it in HIGH DEFINITION. Bought the expensive TV so that I can SEE EVERY DANGLING THREAD and every string of fabric glue.

Just like Nina.

If Lifetime can get me Hi Def, it will be hi fives all around.

"It's a great season. I'll say there's a big-time shocker, some purported cheating . . . The blogs will be clogged. They won't be able to vent enough about it.''"

Holy crap and Dammit.

Now, if in addition to the shockers, purported cheating, how the internets are going to need a super enema after these revelations unfold- Tim said: "This season's designers are the best yet" as he had during the build up for seasons 3 and 4...

oh, bah.

Um, wow. Every time I've read that quote it has been "“He came in and he had been in the room about 10 seconds, and I said to my fellow judges, ‘This is an old soul. This is not a 21-year-old kid.’ The work blew me away. I’ve spent my life working with young people, working with students. The closest I’ve ever come to a real prodigy is the Proenza Schouler boys, Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez. But Christian just blows me away.”"Like here.Way to butcher it so it looks like he said something he never did. Lol, transparent much?

Uuuunnnnnnnnnhhhh.

I'm dying here, waiting for this show.

Tim said: "This season's designers are the best yet" as he had during the build up for seasons 3 and 4...

From what I saw of the Fashion Week collections, I would say that is far from the truth. There was only one that I liked, and it was not consistent.

I'm glad PR is back but do we really need to wait that long?

I hope it won't be somewhat anticlimactic since it has been in the can for months.

I am psyched, but, gosh, why do we have to wait so long?

Hooray! Count me in. Guys, lots of recaps, please : )

LOVE the Ninacaps and cant wait, bitches!

August is too late. 10pm and 11pm is too late. I hate Lifetime.

Nina got a good eye job.

Yeah, remember when Tim said Season 5 was the most talented yet? Riiiiiiight. It's total PR. I don't necessarily blame Tim for that, but I most certainly don't buy it...especially after seeing the shitty final collections they all put out. I think PR is officially dead. Hopefully that bitch Andrew Christian won't ruin The Fashion Show for me.

It is unfortunate that PR will not air until August. However, this should have been expected by Weinstein and Lifetime when you behave as they have. I look forward to watching The Fashion Show on Bravo. PR well, it is over. The feeling is gone and I just can't get it back.

A network's schedule and advertising slots are booked months ahead of time. It's more than likely that August was the absolute earliest Lifetime could get the show on the air due to prior agreements.

Tim looks like a wax figure in the photo above... like his lady friends are having some fun at Mme. Tussaud's.

FInally!!! I cannot wait, its been too long. If I don't get some TLo Screencaps soon I am going to have no reason to go on in this life. ;-)

Nobody mentioning anything about Tim appearing in Ok! Magazine with his pants down?

For SHAME, Tom and Lorenzo!

That appears to have been a spoof cover.

If you go to the magazine's website, it says the issue with the Tim Gunn interview in actually has a different cover (picturing three actresses).

See http://www.okmagazine.com/blog/post/13712/Tim-Gunn-Explains-It-All

The bottom line of this teaser says: "Pick up the OK! out now to find out more about Tim’s love life and tips for teens who are coming out of the closet. The cover line is Real Sizes Revealed!"

Also compare the highly photoshopped face in the spoof cover with the actual picture of Tim on Ok!'s web site. The pants down pic is clearly a fake.

You should know very well that Tim would never do anything so tasteless, particularly when his present career depends upon the perception of him as having exquisite taste and endearing decorum.

For those who need a Fashion fix there's always Project Runway Canada season 2 which just finished airing.
