That knitted and crocheted number is AMAZING!

Absolutely fabulous!

I think Paula Abdul wore a similar necklace featured in picture #6 during the AI auditions.

And here I thought that her white witch costumes were over the top... Way to bring it, SWINTON! She is the perfect model for these looks. (I know she's ubertall, but surely she's standing on something?)

Stunning!!! Love her even more!

It's official- She is an icon.

Fashion icon! FABULOUS! I could look at these photos alllll dayyyy long!

Wow...she is amazing! I love that you love her as much as I love her.

Wow, that woman can model! All those girls on ANTM and Make Me a Supermodel should take some notes.

this is what fierce looks like.

she looks amazing

Yikes, so that's the future of British fashion. One wonders if they each come with a Pogo Stick to make getting around effortless.

That women was born to wear couture.
Absolutely fab.

Brava Tilda!!!

Bravi British designers!!!

Bravo Craig McDean!!!

Bravo AnOther Magazine!!!

I want to nitpick the multiple couture poses and actually did in my previous draft, but I gotta admit that Tilda "brung it" when it came to the posing.

She looks really amazing. Wow.

Whoa.

There are seriously no words to describe the fabulosity of that woman, styled like that, in those clothes, shot that way.

Wow.

Amazing!

I can't believe the fuschia loop ribbon number is trousers!

Bravo Tilda!!!

Looking at the larger versions of the photos is a must - the detail is jaw-dropping!

WOW!!! I would never wear any of those, but they are all spectacular. And she makes them even moreso!

I want to go to a party where all guests are wearing dresses like these. It will possibly involve tango dancing and an orgy at midnight. Meep.

She looks FABULOUS!!
You go girl!

Gorgeous, Dress #2 by Peter Pilotto is perfect for an Opera Diva!

Only SWINTON can really make the menstrual cramp pose look fierce. She has the age and gravity to pull this crazy stuff off and make it look like Art. Adore her.

Grace Jones+David Bowie-Divine=SWINTON.

Geez, I guess I just don't "get" the Tilda phenomenon. She always looks like a big huge fool to me.....

wow, this is all amazing. the cover look is stunning!

Honesty.not.pc

Those are so fabulous! That girl can sure represent high fasion.

Tilda in Sandra Backlund? My heart explodes under the awesomeness.

I LOVE Tilda Swinton. She's so interesting, and she OWNS it. Perfect model for these fashions.

God, I love her.

And Sandra Backlund! Check out more of her knit designs. She's brilliant. And so cool and smart that she's aligning herself with the Brits, the French avant garde & with also a small Tokyo shop.

You're right, Siren -- what a party!

She looks awesome. I wish she was styled this good when she attends red carpet events.

That photo shoot was high art. Truly.

The dresses are fabulous, futuristic in an unpretentious way, but I mostly love Tilda Swinton modelling; this woman is hauntingly unique!

She's astounding, she shows the dresses off perfectly.

Word to the Wordy, Word, Word!!! I grudgingly accept that modeling is a young woman's game, but I draw the line at girls who are young teenagers. This goes to show that some fashions are better showcased by a grown ass woman.

Sewing Siren, your new avatar has the same vibe as the fashions that Tilda is wearing. Is this a coincidence?

Holy Haute!!! I am astounded by the pure art exhibited by Ms. Swinton, the designers, stylists and photographer for this shoot.
True fabulosity!!!!!

I wish, wish, WISH she'd wear something like one of those to an awards show. Girlfriend looks FABULOUS! Every dress is a gem - just the thing to stand out and make a statement. No one would be talking about anything else the day after, either. Empress Tilda would rule the roost!

That woman is FIERCE! It makes me crazy when I browse through yahoo's "fashion" opinions where almost every comment about her is how she's unfeminine and/or fashion blind. Fuck the haters. The woman's the living embodiment of fabulous!

potty mouth princess

Those are the fucking BOMB!

I don't know anything about Tilda before her film career. Former model perhaps? She certainly has the height and body, even in her 40's(?).

Damn...

Only SWINTON can really make the menstrual cramp pose look fierce.

Hahahaha
Too true.

I love Tilda, so much so, that i forced myself to watch Constantine last night just to see her as Gabriel.

As another poster mentioned, in order to fully appreciate the clothes, it is essential to click on the images to examine the details. I'm not at all knowledgeable about the world of haute couture/avante garde, but I can appreciate that these are the real deal. Swinton certainly knows how to pose, and her maturity brings it in a way that younger models can rarely carry off. The photography is as well-lit as possible for the many black pieces. I felt as if I were strolling through a living gallery of astonishing statues.

The occasional unusual postings we enjoy from TLo like this one are what keep me coming back to the blog.

...the last look is ribbon PANTS???
I have to have them

I love Tilda, so much so, that i forced myself to watch Constantine last night just to see her as Gabriel.

So comforting to know I'm not the only one.

Wow. No wonder the girls at Go Fug Yourself have taken to calling her SWINTON. Those are amazing, and I credit the photographer equally as much as the fashion.

Non.
I changed for Tilda, and TLo of course.

Love it, love, love it. Thanks guys!!!

Why is the future always so unflattering?

Love her. She really is An Other.

I now refer to her as SWINTON because of the Fug girls... she is fabulous.

Um. I looked at the details, and she looks like she has 2 sets of boobs in the second one up from the bottom.

Tilda's reminiscent of David Bowie in his Thin White Duke period. Perfection.

Unless Wikipedia's wrong, Tilda's forty nine years old!

Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety...

That woman has got to be an alien because she is otherworldly and TOO fabulous to be from here.

She is fabulous. The next time they have a haute couture challenge on PR they need to look at these pictures. It really is art as much as fashion, and she can CARRY it!

everyone should really read the accompanying article in Another Magazine, its truly amazing. Its basically the art/fashion/film world gushing why she transcends the word "muse." terrific "article."

Magnificent, inspired, extra ordinary and those are just the words that I’d use to describe Tilda and the decision to have her model these amazing garments.

I can't imagine any other actress pulling this off.

Dr. J - yes she is standing on a large block (look at close up of the last few pics).

The one with the title starting with "suede" (made me laugh) - hey EXPOSED ZIPPERS - so are they acceptable when SHE wears them?

She is FABULOUS. Totally ROCKS. ART. These are frameable pictures.

Pam

Okay TLo, you sold me.

Tilda is a work of art all in herself.

Get well, ladies!

Wow-who else could wear a dress as an "underskirt" and still look tall and thin?

I am stupid and need claificationbecause I want to make sure I understand correctly: on the dress worn as an underskirt does this mean that the model is wearing a dress as a skirt.

I thank whoever can supply clarification in advance.

Everyone already said it all; amazing, fantastic, unique, spectacular.

Now, if only she could manage to look as attractive and interesting in her public appearances. The reason she's mocked by the fashionistas is that she appears in public in ill-fitting, awkward-looking get-ups that either wash her out or make her appear anorexic and/or dead. It's one thing to look fabulous wearing amazing art in professional photographs; entirely another to know how to wear clothes while living in real time. She has the ability to accomplish the first, clearly. And just as clearly, fails every time at the second. She always looks as if she's posing in a poorly-chosen costume, while presenting herself as discomfited and self-consciously as a 13-year-old at her first dance.

jesus, those are incredible images

I have now crossed over to Team Tilda. I always rolled my eyes when seeing her on the red carpet. But seeing her in these pictures has changed my judgement from "What a weirdo" to "What a rare flower".

I love Swinton. When I saw the cover featured on the "Go Fug Yourself" blog, I couldn't stop looking at it for like 10 minutes. I know she's tall, but they made her look freakishly tall in those photos. Only she could pull those off!

ohhhh honey.....WORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK!

Now this is a fashion Icon and why she can get away with her red carpet looks!

Am only looking at these covers now, but it appears to me that the future of British fashion does not involve ambulation.

All the best,

NDC

This is couture as a statement of posing and shape, not for walking and movement.

Whenever Project Runway tosses out one of those "avant garde" or "couture" challenges, I start to cringe. What having a RUNWAY forces you to do is make a garment designed to move. None of these garments, although spectacular and impeccable, would win because the poor model would hobble down the runway.

I would love to see a true, posed challenge--one uses fashion to transform a basic, human shape into art.

I swear, that androfemme can wear ANYTHING!

Love her, love her, love her.

This is my dime store psychology take on Tilda Swinton. She loves fashion, but she probably loves designs that are better suited for editorials and runways than red carpet. That is why the AnOther Magazine editorial is such a great showcase for her.

If this is a jumping off point for her and she becomes a fixture in fashion editorials (which I really, really hope happens) and her hankering to wear art is satisfied by this, perhaps her red carpet style will evolve to something more mainstream. To be sure, she won't be rocking the Monique L'Huillier and Marchesa frou frou and I think her personal style will probably remain severe and downright anemic, but perhaps it will moderate some... but hopefully not too much.

I wouldn't mind seeing her wearing a modified version of the Nasir Mazhar or the Mary Katrantzou on the red carpet.

She just simply isn't a Marchesa/Versace/Monique Lhuillier kind of gal: keep the Lanvin and Rodarte coming. Nobody has balls anymore...

Uggh. I see the fashion but will never be a convert to her peculiar brand of charm.

Fabulous but she needs to work on her faces.

Wow! Not only is she a great actress, but she is a fabulous model! Go Tilda!!

Up until now I had only seen her on the red carpet and have posted a number of comments wondering why, oh WHY, people thought she was so great. Now I get it. FABULOUS. I take back everything I said before! Converted.

OMG

Serously, NOW....

I LOVE HER!!!!!
It's great as a supermodel!!!!

I just love SWINTON*. The crazier the better. She fills my heart with joy~

(*see go fug yourself)

a,

Many of us miss the days when Sewing Siren changed her avatar every week to reflect what she would have done for the PRG challenge. Sometimes she was the hands-down winner! :)

Tilda is incredible.

Its better than anothers models!

AMAZING, (L)
