What does this portend for the season, if it's ever shown? Then again, we do know that designers compete promisingly but sometimes fumble at the end.... hoever, this is... no good.
First, I have to say thanks to Tlo for tickets to the show. It was great of them to share with readers & was interesting to see the show. The only other full PR runway show I'd see was the pre-season show for S4, which was way different. It was more hopeful, even though you could kinda tell, from body language and attitude, which designers had been eliminated early (even though you didn't know who the hell they were).
Overall, I felt very sad for the S6 designers because they didn't get to take the runway with their collections, to take their bow. And the PR designer alums that I spoke with felt the same way. This is likely the only chance any of them will have for exposure on this big a stage, and they didn't even get to walk the runway.
The only thing good about this scenario is, we got to see these collections with no biases at all, because we haven't seen the personalities of the designers.
I just spoke with Tlo, and they've asked me to let you all know that these posts are just preliminary. They took time out of their whirlwind NYC trip, to get these posts up quickly, because they knew all their devoted peeps were hungry for the details.
They are currently on the train, on their way back to Philly, and as soon as they get home, they will be posting more pictures (including close-ups, and more detail).
So fear not, and enjoy these cocktail hour nibblies: The main course is coming later.
I hope there were a couple of really good designers who got bumped off in the last challenges and the season has good villains, etc. because I'm not really feelin' it with these 3.
Anyway -- thanks so much, TLo. Your minions appreciate it.
Tragic counterpoint to the first two collections (Col 1 may not have been original, but it hit my aesthetic dead on and looked impeccable; col 2 was more fun, but had one clunker in the blue cape, and this was... Um.
What is up with this collection. I liked the first look a lot, but it's waaay downhill after that, except for the black model with the knight deep cut sweater, blue tights (like that shade of blue), and high boots.
I liked the black dress at first, but wtf is up with the asymmetrical straps? It's stupid. If it was symmetrical, then ok, it could be simple but chic like Calvin Klein or something.
The collection doesn't really tell a story. Isn't cohesive, except for the use of leather (done poorly mostly).
And the evening wear is TERRIBLE. I hate all those dresses.
Trying for Calvin Klein simplicity but showing that the tailoring skills just aren't there. You have to baste first and ease the seam. This is a home sewer who should stay at home. The designs where decent basics that lacked good styling. It was a dress in the dark moment.
I really am hating seeing these collections without knowing, loving, adoring the designers who eventually end up being at Fashion week. Bravo/whoever the other company is who's suing Bravo...I hate you!!!
THANKS for the photos TLo! I could see enough detail on several of the darker pieces to have an opinion. My strongest reaction: damn! Nina looks fantastic!
Much hate for the oversized-sleeve sweaters. Most of the rest of it was o.k if that's your look. The brown trousers that look semi-jodhpur style seemn to be messy looking from the back. The grey too short cocktail (?) dress was on the wrong model - dress looked skimpy & the model looked like an Amazon.
Some of it is wearable and some I like as in would buy myself but it is not exactly fashiony, which is generally what they should be aspiring towards. To me, this is the Joe collection of this season; not bad really but not exactly high fashion. The exception is the ripped shirt. If that was meant to be ripped, it is terrible. If it was unintentionally, it is still terrible but I feel sorry for the designer b/c of the issue.
Someone needs to get Jaslene a burger and milkshake fast! I wonder how much emotional and creative investment the designers had in these collections given the circumstances. While designers say they do what they do for "the passion of fashion", did they lack that extra spark they might have otherwise had if they'd been creating under the normal circumstances of a PR season - the excitement and thrill of competing in the public eye as a result of continuous publicity from being on television.
Okay, I've seen all three collections now and I think the lack of colour is very depressing. I think I need a coffee before I can have a closer look at any collection.
Sewing pleather is a bitch, way harder to sew than leather. The concept was good , especially with the knitwear, but the fitting and execution were not. I bet Stella was horrified looking at those pieces.
"I don't think it blew me away at all," he said. "But I think it was really strong and consistent. I don't think there was, like, a BAD collection -- where last season, there were some rough ones."
"Bettie said... Here's what Christian Siriano said:
"I don't think it blew me away at all," he said. "But I think it was really strong and consistent. I don't think there was, like, a BAD collection -- where last season, there were some rough ones.""
Hmmm...but I think he should know that the rough collections last season, were the decoy collections. And this season there were no decoys.
Something else that is interesting to note: While all the designer alums sat together, (about 3 rows in front of me) starting about 5 rows back, in a section near the end, Christian sat in the front row, 2 sections away, right in the middle. And he's not even the most recent winner. LeeAnn sat with the other designers. I don't know if that was his demand, or what, but I thought it was odd (& I'd love to know what the other designers thought about that).
They're not all winners, but I can name at least three PR Fashion Week collections from years past that were worse.
There were some interesting shapes and shilouettes here and it would have looked a lot more interesting with some color. It's very commercial and, as an Anonymous mentioned, kinda Gap-ish.
What is that fabric? Pleather? Latex? I can't imagine that that much real leather would be in the budget.
As for Heidi's look, I just wish the bottom of her pants were an inch longer.
Great choice of models, they're all gorgeous, and I LOVE the styling - the makeup is flawless. Oh, the clothes? Meh. Though I do like the silver-gray dress Jaslene is wearing.
Thanks for the new angles, TLo! I'm more and more horrified by that oversized blue sweater every time I see new photos. I just want to rush over and give that model a camisole to wear underneath. I'm sure the designer spent a LOT of time on that piece and didn't know when to stop.
All the collections look the same. Same colors, same shapes. And nothing that hasn't been done before. PR is supposed to be about finding new, fresh talent. None of these collections are new, and none of them are interesting.
Didn't change my overall opinions here, but I do appreciate better that some pieces (especially the knits) might have impressive detail work, even if (IMO, of course) the overall look is lacking.
After reading some critical reviews, they actually prefer this and the third collection over the second. Everyone here seems to think this collection is the worst.
I will say that the second collection is schizophrenic. The critics liked a lot of the separates in this collection.
I kinda see that.
Still, the third collection is still the consensus as the strongest.
This collection doesn't do anything for me. Boring colours, boring style and I hate the oversized sweaters. It's not the worst collection but it certainly wouldn't get my vote.
It's a Frankenstein monster of two parts Duchess (the palate), one part Stella (leathah/pleathah), and one part Rami (draping, yet again). Definitely OUT.
Sadly the more I look at these latest pics, the sadder this collection makes me. While still not the worst to ever appear, I am really surprised at the variable execution on the pieces.
The leather pieces look fine but that the hem on the green dress looks unfinished. That grey number with the structured top and draped skirt, the top looks shoddy and ill-fitting. I feel sorry for this person.
The other 2 collections at least have something pretty to redeem them or a defined POV
Thanks so much for the updated pics, TLo! I now hate the entire collection more than I did before. Unfortunately, the new pics brought out how extremely anorexic Jaslene looks. She has always been very thin, but she now looks really sickly. I'm worried......
Too many fit problems. Some of the shoes/boots were okay. If Jaslene can't make a dress look good, it sucks.
I guess black/gray is the palette for this fall/winter then? Hate gray, but will get by with all my black.
I haven't seen Collection #2 yet, but I'm wondering if there was a requirement for a knit sweater? That said, I prefer mine to actually FIT. My arms are short enough without having the arms dangling down by my knees. FUG.
So far #3 >>>>>> #1, but as I said, I've yet to see #2.
Most of it's been said already... the only thing I have to add is that I couldn't tear my eyes away from some of those fake eyelashes - my god, how could they keep their eyes open? Too much, much too much, and the headbands...!
Wow, first impressions are "ugly", "boring" and "poor construction". It's like a rock n' roll clothing convention with out the WOW factor. I'm sorry I peeked, makes me not look forward to the new season as much. :(
Wow...just, wow...um, er... Can't quite express how I feel about these... How bad is it that the one aspect of this collection that left the biggest impression with me was that more than half of the garments had spots or stains. Did the person constucting these garments eat greasy food while working? Were the spots, like the tears and rips, an intentional design element? Wow. ~Zombiebirdhouse
Honestly, one of my strongest impressions re: this collection was the absolutely nauseating fit of the black peeptoe heels. I can't believe that not one of the commenters mentioned that.
I'm thinking they might have color restrictions? All three collections have very similar color palettes (maybe this was implemented so no one could guess who the finalists were easily). And perhaps they were allowed to choose one color on their own (& the rest had to be neutrals/blacks).
my guess is that this collection is by logan. he works with leathers and knits if you look at his pre-show work. anyways, he should've used more knits, they are stunning. he made a lot of bad fabric choices in my opinion.
I'd like to just point out that a user "Althea" commented on this post in February and deleted it. This was before we even knew Althea was a contestant. Obviously, she really wanted to say something about this collection. Interesting, no?
I have been on the fence about whether the 1st or the third collections were Althea's. After this episode I'm pretty sure this collection is Althea's.
Why this is Althea's collection:
1. Tanisha is wearing the last look. Tanisha is Althea's model of choice and she has fought for her. If she made it to the final 3 and all the models are brought out every episode then this would be her collection.
2. Construction of her last look is not dissimilar to her look on the 1st episode. The girl likes her seams.
This means that she is not one of the New York residents that did the 3rd collection. Neither is Malvin now that he is out. This leaves Qrystal, Epperson, Nicolas, Carol Hanna, and Irina as the remaining New Yorkers. (Read my post on the collection #3 comments for why I believe the designer of the collection is a New Yorker)
I believe Carol Hanna designed the 2nd collection.
I think Epperson and Irina could potentially have made collection #3. Having browsed through Irina's website, my money is on Irina for collection #3.
So Al, you think it's going to be another all female finale? That does fit the Lifetime demographic, but last season was all female. So I doubt it. The headbands do look like Althea's sketches, but the workmanship and handling of the fabric (soiled) in the collection is so careless. Do you think that Lifetime would plant red herings to throw the viewers off? maybe.
SS: Althea's craftmanship on the show has been less than stellar thus far. The fact that Tanisha was the model donning the evening look was the final nail on the coffin for me.
I do believe this is going to be an all girl finale. Which is sad, cause I was rooting for Epperson and Chris.
I think looking at the episodes thus far and seeing these collections that it's safe to say.
*SPECULATION NOT FACT*
Collection 1-Althea Harper. Her style is a bit more deconstructed with strappy things and this collection fits it to the T. She won't win; the collection is slightly generic. Unfortunate, as Althea's past designs are anything but generic.
Could this be Logan's collection? Look at the surfwear outfit and then look at these.
Many of these looks have a rocker-vibe (the pantyhose "runs") vs. the metallic look to the pants in the surfwear look. The fabrics look downright identical. The belts are especially telling - they're literally the same. It's as if the surfwear look came out of this collection.
Plus, this collection uses leather, and Logan does leather (see maternity challenge's collar and pre-show looks).
I should add to my last post - it's also possible this is Christopher's collection, since he and Logan did the surfwear challenge together. Don't necessarily think it's true, but if the looks are that similar it's always possible...
Okay Al and Augusta, I'm ready to call it as Althea's collection too. The monstrosity that won last night did it for me. I can't believe after working with Tanisha so many times she still can't fit the poor girls bust properly!
Another couple of words: This is the direction fashion seems to be going back into right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if the judges were more receptive to it than most of the comment-ers here.
But it cannot be denied that there are some SERIOUS fit and execution issues here. However, collection umber had even more fit issues, and collection three had less color and less range.
In all, while I think that this collection probably had the most issues, it also had the most relevance to what is going on in fashion today--looking stylish, but not overdone. The other two collections look a tad cartoonish, like what the untrained masses seem to think fashion is.
In terms of style, collection two is too prim (Kenley-esque), and collection three is too overworked (and kinda dated...if not a little tacky); this collection is just right.
"Another couple of words: This is the direction fashion seems to be going back into right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if the judges were more receptive to it than most of the commenters here."
I like how you think fashion is like some huge amoebic blob that moves in one direction.
This collection might be tapping into some current trends (Which the "untrained masses", as you call them, have a lot to do with, just ask any trend forecaster), but there are a LOT of current trends out there, and its usually unwise (And often self-contradictory) for a designer to tap into all of them at once.
Take it from someone who went to design school and has watched fashion students getting critiqued before (I went to DAAP), this would have not gotten a good reaction.
People, regardless of whether they are untrained or not, recognize good design. Whether they can consciously disseminate it, or simply appreciate it at an unconscious level is ultimately irrelevant if the objective is to sell and/or inspire.
This was a shoddily designed collection, and it's certainly telling that it being "trendy" seems to be only merit you can think of.
"it also had the most relevance to what is going on in fashion today--looking stylish, but not overdone. The other two collections look a tad cartoonish, like what the untrained masses seem to think fashion is."
Since when has "looking stylish, but not overdone" not been going on in fashion?
These designers had an opportunity to show at Bryant Park, so it was probably good that #2 and #3 pulled out all the stops. The looks shown are suppose to wow people in the context of a show, but in fashion these pieces in the looks would be sold separately and integrated into consumers' wardrobes.
"In terms of style, collection two is too prim (Kenley-esque), and collection three is too overworked (and kinda dated...if not a little tacky); this collection is just right."
This collection is easily the lamest. But I just can't fathom the possibility that this is Althea's, after some of her stellar work all season.
But Logan doesn't make much sense either, because he screams cannon fodder.
I think it's highly plausible that this is a decoy. They could've done the Finale several months after regular filming to throw everybody off, and use fake designers even to claim ownership to the work.
I just don't think they'd show the Top 3's collection and not at least bookend it with 2-3 others to throw us off, knowing we'd speculate eventually.
It has to be a fake. I'll say Logan did this as a ploy.
P.S. It most definitely is NOT CHRISTOPHER. Christoper = volume, volume, volume, volume. There are no poofy skirts in any of the three collections!
They spent money on a fake show with 3 decoys? The show does have a budget to work with. And I don't think producing 6 collections total was in their budget. Season 5 had crap scheduling that pretty much forced them to take one 6 collections, but this season didn't have that worry.
it's definitely logan's. when he sat down to pitch his idea with the macy*s, he said he wanted to do a sweater dress, and the sketch he showed looks identical to the oversized sweater the dark skinned model is wearing.
This is without a doubt Irina's. Look at the cut of the sweaters, the shape of the straps on the shirts... compare it to the pieces she's already sent down the runway. And the headbands? The models' profiles look EXACTLY like Irina herself. I'm left feeling the same about this collection that I feel about her stuff in general-- "eh, I guess."
I find it funny that when Irina chose Tanisha, people immediately jumped into the Irina train as far as this collection is concerned. Now Althea snagged Tanisha back and everybody is saying it's Althea's again.
After viewing them all, I have to agree that this is Althea. The layered looks in this collection are very similar in style to the layered looks she's done so far. It's especially apparent from her design in the model event challenge (ep 4) and the Macy's challenge.
Is it just me or what that I see combination stylings for all 3 collections?
1st : Althea & Logan 2nd : Carol H & Christopher 3rd : Nicholas & Irina
In my mind : Probably the last 3 designers (IMO : Althea, C.H, & Nicholas) are told to made 12 looks, while they can get help from the last 3 designers that was auf'd. Or is it going to be a team finale?
I really DO feel like that. Oh well, it's just me. But if that's true, well, i'm kinda happy i guess?
This is Altheas - Hands down. Look at that last dress Tanisha is wearing, especially the butt. Althea has done that in the past - the very fitted dress to accentuate the woman's body, with very tight fabric around the butt. Absolutely Althea's. Number two is CH and three is Irina (hate her).
I'm joining the chorus that thinks this is Althea's collection. The keys (aside from Tanisha as model) are, I think, the looks with open jackets to emphasize the breasts and the breast-/butt-emphasizing last look. It has the "hot mess" style of her inexplicably winning suit.
Another possibility: Christopher, imitating his more successful fellow contestants. You see the sashes and big-volume knits that evoke Irina and the open front jackets that evoke Althea. He has been so devoid of ideas for a while now, and with the preview clip from next week in mind I wouldn't be surprised if he started copying the others. Plus, it's possible that Althea could trip herself up in one of the challenges with another hot mess, while maybe Christopher accidentally coughs up a good look to save his ass. (I couldn't otherwise imagine how in heck Christopher would move to the final three.)
I'm a little shocked and disappointed that this is Althea's. the work she did on the show is so much stronger than this.
how can you walk away from internships with Zac Posen, Westwood, and McQueen and go on to design a collection like this? I guess it's a reflection of her as a young person. I'm just baffled and I'm looking forward to what Althea will say about the collection.
I think Nina will like that she showed several seperates, but that is the only compliment she will recieve from the judges for sure. I hope Suzy Menkes has something nice to say but I doubt it.
I don't understand how Carol and Althea designed collections that were really weak. they've seen the show before and they know what a winning collection is like. their collections were no match against Irina's.
This should be Althea's collection, but just does not look like hers to me. Where are the architectural elements, the intellectual elements? I don't know who's this is.
I too am saddened this is Althea's collection. She is my favorite this season, I KNEW she would make it to the Final 3, and the result is just so disappointing. Her newspaper dress really was amazing. This is not. At all.
This is Althea's for sure. There's an almost replica of her winning look from last night's ep in there, with jodphur pants, plus a plethora of skeezy tank tops will ill-fitting boobs.
I don't think the clothes are bad at all. Wearable and stylish, very expensive rocker trailer trashy. I like it the best of all the collections. The styling KILLS it. DEAD! No way this collection wins based simply on the headbands and hair. I JUST CAN'T with the trashyness of it all. It goes beyond "american trash" styling into taste issue territory. The shoes are also terrible but as we all learned in season 1, you can't judge a PR collection by the shoes.
The first few outfits with pants aren't bad. I like the all-black ensemble and would like to see close-ups of the details. But this collection is far from the most interesting I have ever seen on this show. But after this crap season, I am not surprised to be saying that.
Ugh this makes me even more sad that Gordana didn't get a shot as a 4th now because she'd have to try pretty hard to have a collection more blah than this...
umm this is like the Gap, not Rick Owens. Rick Owens is delicious perfect black leather and eons beyond whatever this bland excuse for a collection is...
Am I just totally tasteless compared to everyone else? To be honest, I actually liked this collection quite a bit! It wasn't the most *exciting* and fashion-forward collection in the world, but it's young and a little edgy and I can see a lot of people I know in grad school who would love some of Althea's pieces. She has some misses (like that awful black-gray-white open-shoulder sweater-top that looks like a beaten rug) but I love the tailoring of the leather and the jackets all look very, very beautifully done. And I deeply covet that black-leather-jacket green-dress ensemble. It looks fabulous!
I actually liked the styling as well... the hair is very pretty and flattering without being stereotypically 'bouncy.' The models all look great, like they've stepped out of a new version of West Side Story. I love it, to be honest.
I like the collection, but I see echos of Irina (and I know this is Althea's collection) in the styling as well as in the clothes themselves. How curious.
You can pair up the collection(Designer) with the model that they used the most in the series. The last model is the same girl that Althea used throughout most of the series.
Oh man, this is so depressing. Looking back at a season that had so much potential, with this being all that comes out of it, I honestly have no desire to watch PR again. The only designers who had a point of view were eliminated for trying to show diversity. Toward the end I was wondering if Christopher was having an affair with Klum or something, because, really now. Who would want to wear his clothes? But anyways. Every one of these "final" collections are so dull...I can barely connect each to its potential designer.
No drama. Bad judging. No POV from any of the designers. I have no connection to the show whatsoever. How frustrating.
I'm going to predict #10 (skirt and sparkly bustier-like top) is the 13th look. It's ill-fitted and dull (like Logan). I'm really disappointed in this collection (the other two not as much), and it makes me even angrier that Gordana was denied a spot in the final 3.
Not to mention I'm still smarting over Epperson's early departures. Blah.
I really like a lot of this collection especially the thin knits. I also love the dress tanisha is wearing.
This part is from very beggining of this post's comments, but Gotham Tomato who are you? Either a dude totally out of touch with women or a women with aweful eighties taste? And if you thing any of this except maybe the cropped pats reminds you of the fourth floornof macys then last time you were there you must have been on acid or crack or maybe both? Just wondering :)

wow. bored out of my skull.

Ew.
2/20/09, 3:51 PM
Hideous
2/20/09, 3:52 PM
I'm calling this one the um..headband collection? And does the silver/grey pant suit have a big stain on the top? Sloppy.
2/20/09, 3:54 PM
Color? Any color? Please?
2/20/09, 3:56 PM
Uhhhhh..NO. Was the finale challenge this season to see who could design the dullest and most depressing collection?
2/20/09, 4:02 PM
After looking at all three I have to say this was a very simple almost boring show for Project Runway standards. Only one with some drama was #2.
2/20/09, 4:02 PM
meh.

I actually think that might be intentional rips in the fabric (ugh), though it's a little hard to tell.

Didn't Tim say something about this being season being a step up for PR? Jesus... how boring. I can find any of this at the mall down the street.

BLAH.
2/20/09, 4:19 PM
Underwhelming at best.
I find myself bored, and since we do not know who the designers are, there is no emotional investment whatsoever.
2/20/09, 4:30 PM
Underwhelming.
But mostly I want to thank you, guys, for posting the pics!!
2/20/09, 4:50 PM
When this came out, I assumed it was a decoy collection. But it turned out, there was no decoy collection.
Everything here looks liike something you could already get on Macy's 4th floor.

It isn't horrible, but it certainly isn't cutting edge or fashion forward.
I like the green dress, would have liked to see it without the coat.
2/20/09, 5:04 PM
Are those sweat stains on model #5's shirt, or is it SUPPOSED to look that way? (Please tell me they're sweat stains.)

well constructed, but as bland as white bread.
I shall call this the White Bread collection.

Tragic counterpoint to the first two collections (Col 1 may not have been original, but it hit my aesthetic dead on and looked impeccable; col 2 was more fun, but had one clunker in the blue cape, and this was...
Um.
Sad.)
2/20/09, 10:55 PM
So what?
2/20/09, 11:15 PM
What is up with this collection. I liked the first look a lot, but it's waaay downhill after that, except for the black model with the knight deep cut sweater, blue tights (like that shade of blue), and high boots.
I liked the black dress at first, but wtf is up with the asymmetrical straps? It's stupid. If it was symmetrical, then ok, it could be simple but chic like Calvin Klein or something.
The collection doesn't really tell a story. Isn't cohesive, except for the use of leather (done poorly mostly).
And the evening wear is TERRIBLE. I hate all those dresses.
2/20/09, 11:28 PM
Trying for Calvin Klein simplicity but showing that the tailoring skills just aren't there. You have to baste first and ease the seam. This is a home sewer who should stay at home. The designs where decent basics that lacked good styling. It was a dress in the dark moment.
2/20/09, 11:52 PM
WTF?? Seriously!
2/21/09, 12:23 AM
I really am hating seeing these collections without knowing, loving, adoring the designers who eventually end up being at Fashion week. Bravo/whoever the other company is who's suing Bravo...I hate you!!!
You're ruining Project Runway!!!
2/21/09, 12:23 AM
UGH. So many of the elements I was left wondering, "why the hell are those things there?"
2/21/09, 12:30 AM
Hideous! Gosh...
2/21/09, 12:31 AM
This the worst collection by far. No color, terrible designs...Ick!
2/21/09, 12:46 AM
Nah. And will someone tell that first model to stand up straight? As my mother would have said: "You're such a pretty girl. Don't slouch!"
2/21/09, 12:49 AM
Is it just me, or does Heidi look like a replicant from Blade Runner with that hair/make up/outfit?
2/21/09, 1:12 AM
Jaslene! Yeah ANTM!
Otherwise, blah.....
Thanks for posting TLo, it is much appreciated!
2/21/09, 1:31 AM
THANKS for the photos TLo! I could see enough detail on several of the darker pieces to have an opinion. My strongest reaction: damn! Nina looks fantastic!
Much hate for the oversized-sleeve sweaters. Most of the rest of it was o.k if that's your look. The brown trousers that look semi-jodhpur style seemn to be messy looking from the back. The grey too short cocktail (?) dress was on the wrong model - dress looked skimpy & the model looked like an Amazon.
2/21/09, 1:50 AM
Boring and very unflattering.
2/21/09, 2:18 AM
This collection seriously sucked. The high-waisted leather pants especially sucked.
2/21/09, 2:32 AM
I love a couple of the first looks. Nothing awe-inspiring, but black and simple is SO underrated.
2/21/09, 4:09 AM
Much of this collection looks like collection 3 and I don't especially like either of them.
I'm used to runway models but I found a few of these women to be alarmingly thin. Anyone else?
2/21/09, 4:17 AM
Number 2 takes it. I think it's very safe to say that.
2/21/09, 7:18 AM
Fug.
2/21/09, 8:19 AM
It. Is. Headbands.
2/21/09, 8:24 AM
ok, that was the weak one at least
2/21/09, 8:55 AM
Yes, I'm another Jaslene fan. That's all I have to say abotu it.
2/21/09, 9:21 AM
No.
2/21/09, 9:28 AM
I understand that looks can be slouchy, but a lot of this just looks sloppy.
2/21/09, 10:08 AM
Ugh. Awful.
2/21/09, 10:33 AM
I do not like this collection at all.
2/21/09, 11:03 AM
Half the looks here were BORING.
2/21/09, 11:04 AM
This screams fashion student to me. I'm underwhelmed considering all the previous collections.
2/21/09, 11:05 AM
The styling and the headbands are ridiculous.

Didn't Tim say something about this being season being a step up for PR? Jesus... how boring. I can find any of this at the mall down the street.
At this point, I wouldn't trust anything Tim says.
2/21/09, 11:20 AM
Oh dear. Mall clothes. Sloppy looking. Poorly constructed. I could go on and on.
2/21/09, 11:26 AM
OH JEEZ!! Is Suede pulling a Daniel Franco?
2/21/09, 11:29 AM
Some of it is wearable and some I like as in would buy myself but it is not exactly fashiony, which is generally what they should be aspiring towards. To me, this is the Joe collection of this season; not bad really but not exactly high fashion.
The exception is the ripped shirt. If that was meant to be ripped, it is terrible. If it was unintentionally, it is still terrible but I feel sorry for the designer b/c of the issue.

Yup. Thank you for the pictures, Tlo!
2/21/09, 12:46 PM
fug
so disappointed
2/21/09, 12:54 PM
Well, this one didn't win.
2/21/09, 1:00 PM
Wow! This is by far the least interesting one.
2/21/09, 1:03 PM
Thank you for posting all these pictures, guys. You're the best! Now let's hope this show airs someday.
2/21/09, 1:04 PM
I'm VERY disappointed with this collection.
2/21/09, 1:05 PM
It looks like a fashion student's final-year show.
2/21/09, 1:14 PM
Someone needs to get Jaslene a burger and milkshake fast!
I wonder how much emotional and creative investment the designers had in these collections given the circumstances. While designers say they do what they do for "the passion of fashion", did they lack that extra spark they might have otherwise had if they'd been creating under the normal circumstances of a PR season - the excitement and thrill of competing in the public eye as a result of continuous publicity from being on television.
2/21/09, 1:20 PM
clean looks....lots of leather....bit of a snoozer really....last dress was interesting.....overall....enh.
2/21/09, 2:05 PM
The last model is fab. Collection is fairly boring. Don't like the runny-nylons look on the tops.
2/21/09, 2:10 PM
Wow, this is from a finalist? Imagine the "talent" of the eliminees.
2/21/09, 2:24 PM
EW MY GAWD
it's so....bleh
2/21/09, 3:44 PM
Wow, nothing is groundbreaking. You could buy 75% of that in stores right now.
2/21/09, 4:36 PM
To paraphrase Michael Kors, the crotch on those pants is insane!
2/21/09, 4:50 PM
Oh dear god.
2/21/09, 4:51 PM
This is a very weak collection. C'mon this is one of the best three designers??????

Underwhelming at best.
I find myself bored, and since we do not know who the designers are, there is no emotional investment whatsoever.
I actually like that. We're just looking at clothes, plain and simple.
2/21/09, 4:55 PM
Thanks for the pictures, Tlo!
This was a letdown, I thought it would be better than this.
2/21/09, 4:56 PM
I think they showed the collections in the order of how good they were. This is by far the weakest collection.
2/21/09, 4:59 PM
These clothes are too safe.
2/21/09, 5:17 PM
The fabrics look cheap. The fit is atrocious.
2/21/09, 5:22 PM
Okay, I've seen all three collections now and I think the lack of colour is very depressing.
I think I need a coffee before I can have a closer look at any collection.
2/21/09, 5:25 PM
Sewing pleather is a bitch, way harder to sew than leather. The concept was good , especially with the knitwear, but the fitting and execution were not. I bet Stella was horrified looking at those pieces.
2/21/09, 5:26 PM
I thought the first look was very strong and then it just got progressively weaker and weaker.
2/21/09, 5:29 PM
Here's what Christian Siriano said:
"I don't think it blew me away at all," he said. "But I think it was really strong and consistent. I don't think there was, like, a BAD collection -- where last season, there were some rough ones."
2/21/09, 5:35 PM
I'm not blown away by any of these collections. Perhaps because I'm not connected to any one of the designers?
2/21/09, 5:39 PM
What's with all the big headbands? By the way, Jaslene Gonzalez from American's Next Top ModelShe is very anorexic lookin...tooo skinny!
2/21/09, 5:44 PM
It's very hit or miss but the oversized sweater is gorgeous. Was that the 13th look? Knitwear?

Hmmm...but I think he should know that the rough collections last season, were the decoy collections. And this season there were no decoys.
Something else that is interesting to note: While all the designer alums sat together, (about 3 rows in front of me) starting about 5 rows back, in a section near the end, Christian sat in the front row, 2 sections away, right in the middle. And he's not even the most recent winner. LeeAnn sat with the other designers. I don't know if that was his demand, or what, but I thought it was odd (& I'd love to know what the other designers thought about that).

2/21/09, 7:43 PM
They're not all winners, but I can name at least three PR Fashion Week collections from years past that were worse.
There were some interesting shapes and shilouettes here and it would have looked a lot more interesting with some color. It's very commercial and, as an Anonymous mentioned, kinda Gap-ish.
What is that fabric? Pleather? Latex? I can't imagine that that much real leather would be in the budget.
As for Heidi's look, I just wish the bottom of her pants were an inch longer.
2/21/09, 9:01 PM
They should've let them ALL walk the runway in congrats for doing the season that may or may not make it to air.
2/21/09, 10:15 PM
Great choice of models, they're all gorgeous, and I LOVE the styling - the makeup is flawless. Oh, the clothes? Meh. Though I do like the silver-gray dress Jaslene is wearing.
2/21/09, 10:40 PM
Can we say "MALL CLOTHES!!!" Blech
2/21/09, 10:55 PM
Some nice pieces, but I'm underwhelmed.
2/21/09, 11:10 PM
Thanks for the new angles, TLo! I'm more and more horrified by that oversized blue sweater every time I see new photos. I just want to rush over and give that model a camisole to wear underneath. I'm sure the designer spent a LOT of time on that piece and didn't know when to stop.
2/21/09, 11:14 PM
All the collections look the same. Same colors, same shapes. And nothing that hasn't been done before. PR is supposed to be about finding new, fresh talent. None of these collections are new, and none of them are interesting.
2/21/09, 11:18 PM
Thank you for the extra pictures, Tlo. It's nice to see all the details. I kind of dislike them (1 and 2) a little less after seeing more of it.
2/21/09, 11:22 PM
I'm so surprised about the comments. I actually really liked this one!
2/22/09, 12:14 AM
More photos, you guys are awesome!
Didn't change my overall opinions here, but I do appreciate better that some pieces (especially the knits) might have impressive detail work, even if (IMO, of course) the overall look is lacking.
2/22/09, 12:19 AM
Wow soul suckingly fugly.
2/22/09, 1:31 AM
Thanks for the updated pics, TLo.
They really helped me see the ugly so much better...
2/22/09, 2:05 AM
After reading some critical reviews, they actually prefer this and the third collection over the second. Everyone here seems to think this collection is the worst.
I will say that the second collection is schizophrenic. The critics liked a lot of the separates in this collection.
I kinda see that.
Still, the third collection is still the consensus as the strongest.
2/22/09, 6:22 AM
This collection doesn't do anything for me. Boring colours, boring style and I hate the oversized sweaters. It's not the worst collection but it certainly wouldn't get my vote.
2/22/09, 7:32 AM
It's a Frankenstein monster of two parts Duchess (the palate), one part Stella (leathah/pleathah), and one part Rami (draping, yet again). Definitely OUT.
2/22/09, 9:00 AM
Sadly the more I look at these latest pics, the sadder this collection makes me. While still not the worst to ever appear, I am really surprised at the variable execution on the pieces.
The leather pieces look fine but that the hem on the green dress looks unfinished. That grey number with the structured top and draped skirt, the top looks shoddy and ill-fitting. I feel sorry for this person.
The other 2 collections at least have something pretty to redeem them or a defined POV

2/22/09, 10:31 AM
Thanks so much for the updated pics, TLo! I now hate the entire collection more than I did before.
Unfortunately, the new pics brought out how extremely anorexic Jaslene looks. She has always been very thin, but she now looks really sickly. I'm worried......
2/22/09, 10:45 AM
What the hell is going on with the last gown? Are those stains?
2/22/09, 3:20 PM
Too many fit problems. Some of the shoes/boots were okay. If Jaslene can't make a dress look good, it sucks.
I guess black/gray is the palette for this fall/winter then? Hate gray, but will get by with all my black.
I haven't seen Collection #2 yet, but I'm wondering if there was a requirement for a knit sweater? That said, I prefer mine to actually FIT. My arms are short enough without having the arms dangling down by my knees. FUG.
So far #3 >>>>>> #1, but as I said, I've yet to see #2.
2/22/09, 8:49 PM
Is that Jaselene in that silver dress?
2/22/09, 11:12 PM
Most of it's been said already... the only thing I have to add is that I couldn't tear my eyes away from some of those fake eyelashes - my god, how could they keep their eyes open? Too much, much too much, and the headbands...!
2/23/09, 1:01 AM
"Everything here looks liike something you could already get on Macy's 4th floor." i was thinking more like Kohl's or the late Mervyn's. YAWN....
2/23/09, 4:56 AM
The shoes were the best part.
And I think the only person in the world who would wear #4 is Jerrell.
2/23/09, 11:26 AM
I could not care less about this collection. Ugh, Snore.
2/23/09, 2:17 PM
Wow, first impressions are "ugly", "boring" and "poor construction". It's like a rock n' roll clothing convention with out the WOW factor. I'm sorry I peeked, makes me not look forward to the new season as much. :(
2/23/09, 2:41 PM
Uhhh --- how could they have spent $8,000 to do this garbage?
2/23/09, 2:56 PM
boooooring.
2/23/09, 3:07 PM
Wow...just, wow...um, er... Can't quite express how I feel about these...
How bad is it that the one aspect of this collection that left the biggest impression with me was that more than half of the garments had spots or stains. Did the person constucting these garments eat greasy food while working? Were the spots, like the tears and rips, an intentional design element? Wow.

AWWFFFULLL!
3/1/09, 7:09 PM
Honestly, one of my strongest impressions re: this collection was the absolutely nauseating fit of the black peeptoe heels. I can't believe that not one of the commenters mentioned that.
3/7/09, 4:01 AM
Gosh, the #10 outfit create a tumor on her leg.
6/22/09, 3:47 PM
I'm thinking they might have color restrictions? All three collections have very similar color palettes (maybe this was implemented so no one could guess who the finalists were easily). And perhaps they were allowed to choose one color on their own (& the rest had to be neutrals/blacks).
6/29/09, 7:19 PM
While this was not a very interesting collection, I really liked the oversized knit sweater jackets. They look very interesting and I love the volume
7/27/09, 1:58 PM
I think Johnny Polarize designed this one. Anybody else?
8/4/09, 4:26 AM
my guess is that this collection is by logan. he works with leathers and knits if you look at his pre-show work. anyways, he should've used more knits, they are stunning. he made a lot of bad fabric choices in my opinion.
8/27/09, 12:43 AM
I'd like to just point out that a user "Althea" commented on this post in February and deleted it. This was before we even knew Althea was a contestant. Obviously, she really wanted to say something about this collection. Interesting, no?
8/27/09, 4:57 AM
Uh...no. Headbands are gross, especially with a wrong model. Jaslene looks like a ... I don't even have the word to describe it.
Not enough drama, not enough color, unapropriate styling, probably the 3rd place.
I'm not sure, but i think all 3 finalist are guys. The 1st one i'm not sure, the 2nd probably Christian or Ramon, the 3rd is obviously prince feather.
8/28/09, 1:35 AM

8/29/09, 1:41 AM
Gordana.
8/30/09, 11:44 AM
So Al, you think it's going to be another all female finale? That does fit the Lifetime demographic, but last season was all female. So I doubt it.
The headbands do look like Althea's sketches, but the workmanship and handling of the fabric (soiled) in the collection is so careless. Do you think that Lifetime would plant red herings to throw the viewers off? maybe.
8/31/09, 11:27 AM
SS: Althea's craftmanship on the show has been less than stellar thus far.
The fact that Tanisha was the model donning the evening look was the final nail on the coffin for me.
I do believe this is going to be an all girl finale. Which is sad, cause I was rooting for Epperson and Chris.
8/31/09, 11:10 PM
Gordana
9/1/09, 1:14 AM
I think Gordana could have put together a better collection than this.
9/6/09, 6:29 PM
I think looking at the episodes thus far and seeing these collections that it's safe to say.
*SPECULATION NOT FACT*
Collection 1-Althea Harper. Her style is a bit more deconstructed with strappy things and this collection fits it to the T. She won't win; the collection is slightly generic. Unfortunate, as Althea's past designs are anything but generic.
9/8/09, 12:37 PM
Could this be Logan's collection? Look at the surfwear outfit and then look at these.
Many of these looks have a rocker-vibe (the pantyhose "runs") vs. the metallic look to the pants in the surfwear look. The fabrics look downright identical. The belts are especially telling - they're literally the same. It's as if the surfwear look came out of this collection.
Plus, this collection uses leather, and Logan does leather (see maternity challenge's collar and pre-show looks).
9/8/09, 1:55 PM
I should add to my last post - it's also possible this is Christopher's collection, since he and Logan did the surfwear challenge together. Don't necessarily think it's true, but if the looks are that similar it's always possible...
9/10/09, 2:52 PM
Damn! I'm conflicted like a maulfock!
It's either Logan or Althea.
9/11/09, 3:41 PM
Okay Al and Augusta,
I'm ready to call it as Althea's collection too. The monstrosity that won last night did it for me.
I can't believe after working with Tanisha so many times she still can't fit the poor girls bust properly!
9/13/09, 6:37 PM
Two words: Alexander Wang.
9/13/09, 8:56 PM
Goldilocks Schmoldilocks. This collection tanked.
9/26/09, 11:25 AM
9/26/09, 12:11 PM
They spent money on a fake show with 3 decoys? The show does have a budget to work with. And I don't think producing 6 collections total was in their budget. Season 5 had crap scheduling that pretty much forced them to take one 6 collections, but this season didn't have that worry.

it's definitely logan's. when he sat down to pitch his idea with the macy*s, he said he wanted to do a sweater dress, and the sketch he showed looks identical to the oversized sweater the dark skinned model is wearing.
10/5/09, 6:14 AM
This is without a doubt Irina's. Look at the cut of the sweaters, the shape of the straps on the shirts... compare it to the pieces she's already sent down the runway. And the headbands? The models' profiles look EXACTLY like Irina herself. I'm left feeling the same about this collection that I feel about her stuff in general-- "eh, I guess."
There's no way this is Althea's.
10/6/09, 8:23 PM
I'm definitely getting a strong Irina vibe from this one.
10/7/09, 3:06 AM
After seeing this:

I agree, there is no way this is anyone else's collection than Irina.
10/9/09, 8:50 PM
Last model = Tanisha
I'm calling Althea
10/9/09, 8:51 PM
Plus, they're all wearing the same stupid headband she was wearing in last night's episode.
10/10/09, 3:51 AM
excuse you - irina has been wearing the same headband and even longer than althea has.
10/10/09, 8:55 AM
really reeks of Althea. good 3rd placer collection.
10/10/09, 8:31 PM
Excuse *you*:
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff231/VxnChick/Headband.jpg
You don't notice a resemblance...?
10/11/09, 1:14 PM
To be honest, those kinda headbands have been pretty trendy as of late. Irina and Althea are both fashionable girls.
This is about the clothes...the clothes... they are Althea's.
People, please take a look at Irina's website. Then judge.
1st collection: Althea
2nd collection: CH
3rd collection: Irina
I'm sticking with that through and through.
10/11/09, 8:51 PM
Just thought I'd add.
I find it funny that when Irina chose Tanisha, people immediately jumped into the Irina train as far as this collection is concerned. Now Althea snagged Tanisha back and everybody is saying it's Althea's again.
10/12/09, 12:51 AM
This is Althea's collection. There is no doubt in my mind.
10/16/09, 6:00 AM
After viewing them all, I have to agree that this is Althea. The layered looks in this collection are very similar in style to the layered looks she's done so far. It's especially apparent from her design in the model event challenge (ep 4) and the Macy's challenge.
10/22/09, 5:44 AM
Is it just me or what that I see combination stylings for all 3 collections?
1st : Althea & Logan
2nd : Carol H & Christopher
3rd : Nicholas & Irina
In my mind : Probably the last 3 designers (IMO : Althea, C.H, & Nicholas) are told to made 12 looks, while they can get help from the last 3 designers that was auf'd. Or is it going to be a team finale?
I really DO feel like that. Oh well, it's just me. But if that's true, well, i'm kinda happy i guess?
10/22/09, 5:18 PM
This is Altheas - Hands down. Look at that last dress Tanisha is wearing, especially the butt. Althea has done that in the past - the very fitted dress to accentuate the woman's body, with very tight fabric around the butt. Absolutely Althea's. Number two is CH and three is Irina (hate her).
10/23/09, 5:11 AM
Althea... somehow it dissapoints me (as her newspaper dress and some of her others was stunning)
Now nicholas's gone, the 3rd one is going to be irina, or maybe even logan...
10/23/09, 3:56 PM
10/24/09, 2:28 PM
10/24/09, 8:38 PM
This should be Althea's collection, but just does not look like hers to me. Where are the architectural elements, the intellectual elements? I don't know who's this is.
10/24/09, 9:04 PM
I too am saddened this is Althea's collection. She is my favorite this season, I KNEW she would make it to the Final 3, and the result is just so disappointing. Her newspaper dress really was amazing. This is not. At all.
10/24/09, 9:54 PM
I'm going to disagree with the general trend and guess this is Irina's. She sure does love sweaters, and have we even seen Althea do pants?
10/26/09, 12:11 PM
This reminds me of Logan the most.
10/26/09, 3:30 PM
It is most likely Althea's- although there exist the remote possibilities of Irina and Logan.
Weakest of the trio. The only thing I like is the green dress.
10/30/09, 9:11 PM
This is Althea's for sure. There's an almost replica of her winning look from last night's ep in there, with jodphur pants, plus a plethora of skeezy tank tops will ill-fitting boobs.
It's ugly as hell and a total disappointment.
10/31/09, 12:43 PM
I don't think the clothes are bad at all. Wearable and stylish, very expensive rocker trailer trashy. I like it the best of all the collections. The styling KILLS it. DEAD! No way this collection wins based simply on the headbands and hair. I JUST CAN'T with the trashyness of it all. It goes beyond "american trash" styling into taste issue territory. The shoes are also terrible but as we all learned in season 1, you can't judge a PR collection by the shoes.
10/31/09, 12:46 PM
Also can Jaslene JASLENE! DRINK A MILK SHAKE BABE!
11/3/09, 4:00 PM
The first few outfits with pants aren't bad. I like the all-black ensemble and would like to see close-ups of the details. But this collection is far from the most interesting I have ever seen on this show. But after this crap season, I am not surprised to be saying that.
11/4/09, 1:16 PM
Althea. Very much in line with the street chic/nouveau goth look that's big right now. However, way too much RICK OWENS happening. Am I wrong?
11/5/09, 11:38 PM
Ugh this makes me even more sad that Gordana didn't get a shot as a 4th now because she'd have to try pretty hard to have a collection more blah than this...
11/5/09, 11:45 PM
umm this is like the Gap, not Rick Owens. Rick Owens is delicious perfect black leather and eons beyond whatever this bland excuse for a collection is...
11/6/09, 10:19 AM
11/6/09, 3:02 PM
I like the collection, but I see echos of Irina (and I know this is Althea's collection) in the styling as well as in the clothes themselves. How curious.
11/6/09, 5:23 PM
Beautiful girls... awful clothes.
11/7/09, 8:12 PM
After being accused of stealing Irina's oversized sweater, Althea really felt the need to make it hers, didn't she?
11/9/09, 1:40 AM
I predict Althea
11/9/09, 2:01 AM
You can pair up the collection(Designer) with the model that they used the most in the series. The last model is the same girl that Althea used throughout most of the series.
11/9/09, 5:02 PM
No color. No "wow" pieces.
No excitement whatsoever.
LOTS of ugly, black headbands.
It's like revisiting the 80's; with all the tackiness & none of the fun.
11/9/09, 6:09 PM
Oh man, this is so depressing. Looking back at a season that had so much potential, with this being all that comes out of it, I honestly have no desire to watch PR again. The only designers who had a point of view were eliminated for trying to show diversity. Toward the end I was wondering if Christopher was having an affair with Klum or something, because, really now. Who would want to wear his clothes? But anyways. Every one of these "final" collections are so dull...I can barely connect each to its potential designer.
No drama. Bad judging. No POV from any of the designers. I have no connection to the show whatsoever. How frustrating.
11/10/09, 3:17 PM
Silly headbands + ugly sashes, it must be Irina! But the final model is Althea's... I'm confused
11/13/09, 4:19 AM
3rd, 5th, 9th, and 12th. All the other ones are awful. That's less than 1/3 of the collection that is good.
11/13/09, 12:22 PM
I'm going to predict #10 (skirt and sparkly bustier-like top) is the 13th look. It's ill-fitted and dull (like Logan). I'm really disappointed in this collection (the other two not as much), and it makes me even angrier that Gordana was denied a spot in the final 3.
Not to mention I'm still smarting over Epperson's early departures. Blah.
11/13/09, 8:02 PM
This is the most boring collection ever. And not well-made either.
11/13/09, 9:37 PM
I can't believe she put Tanisha in that... tan.... THING. It's so boring!
13th look seems to be the Korean model with the strangely fitting pants.
11/15/09, 4:13 AM
Bad Bad Bad ever
11/16/09, 11:24 PM
I really like a lot of this collection especially the thin knits. I also love the dress tanisha is wearing.
This part is from very beggining of this post's comments, but Gotham Tomato who are you?
Either a dude totally out of touch with women or a women with aweful eighties taste?
And if you thing any of this except maybe the cropped pats reminds you of the fourth floornof macys then last time you were there you must have been on acid or crack or maybe both?
Just wondering :)
