Victoria Beckham: In or Out

Let's start off the New Year in the best way we know: by being really, really judgmental.

Here's Posh at a dinner party in Dubai wearing a Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 dress with YSL heels:

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 Collection
Model: Georgina Stojilkovic

It's certainly not a dress for everyone but hey, she's Posh. We would expect no less from her. We think it's fun and sophisticated and we even like what she did with her hair. We say IN but we suspect we're in the minority on that one. What do you bitches say?

You bitches are back! I missed you!!
IN. IN. IN. She looks fabulous. I love the dress!

The dress length is a hair long for my taste, but good to see she's put a half a pound or so back on to make it do more than just hang from her frame.

The dress is cute, hate the hair.

But...

Is she overdressed or is Becks underdressed? A golf shirt? Come on.

That dress is fabulous. She's fabulous. IN.

She looks GORGEOUS!! So that's why she was hanging out with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana around the holidays.

She looks a bit healthier and the dress and hair are fine. The bizarro implants? Not so much.

In. Love the silhouette on her. Love the dress. Love that she does not look like a stick with make up on.

IN IN IN!! she looks amazing. and I ah dore the hair

I kinda like it on her. I like it better on her than on the model. And she does look like she put on a (very) little weight, which is a good thing. The hair is so cute!

Hello Tlo! Great way to start off the year. Let's judge!

I don't mind being in the minority here by saying I don't care at all for this dress. I don't hate it, so I cannot give it an OUT. But I'm not a fan of that bubble hip shape. Not too wild about the messy hair or the shoved up boobs either.

But to her credit, I think she looks healthier now. That's what important.

I think she needs to tuck her boobs in and tell her husband that a polo shirt doesn't cut it for black tie!

I'm not sure how I feel about the dress, but I lovelovelove her styling for once.

Love the dress and the shoes, but the hair ruined it for me.

The dress is already so flouncy that the hair makes it seem a little too precious.

I say IN as well; it's fabulously whimsical.

Not a big fan of the bubble dress but she pulls it off. Those boobs, however are over the top, literally.

I love the top of the dress, but I'm not feeling the bubble shape on the bottom. The shoes? To die.

don't like the dress. can't like the dress; it would make most women look like characters in a Tim Burton movie. However, the dress being what it is, no one could possibly wear it better. It looks significantly better on her than on the model. And the shoes are wonderful. If nothing else, kudos to her for wearing all of the wonderful shoes that she does, and not showing the pain on her face. Something that high has to hurt after a bit!

Lol. The bubble shape on bottom IS the dress! You love the boring black bustier top? Congratulations, you can find one anywhere.

The dress is hard to pull off, but she does fabulously. However her hair is another issue, a little too sophisticated pre-school for my tastes.

YAY!! I MISSED YOU!!

And yes -- she's in! She looks cute!!

xoxooxox

In, love the whole look and yes, she looks like she gained a pound or two, thank goodness!

I didn't like it at first but it's growing on me. Those shoes are unreal, too hot. She always has the best (or at least most interesting) shoes!

Sure did miss you guys!!! So happy to see you back!

Ok..guess I'm in the minority here, but I think the dress is AWFUL. Black lawn bag comes to mind.
However, Ms. Beckham is looking much better, physically. She must be eating more than a lettuce leaf and a Tic Tac now and then.

IN, just because it looks like a shelf for her booooobs doesn't mean it isn't great. LOVE her hair too, she looks better not so "throwing up every meal" skinny

formerlyAnon

I like shoes, hair and healthier appearance. On the fence with the dress - I suppose she *wants* to force the viewer to confront the utter falsity of her boobs - Look! look! See how improbable my chest is! - and the skirt is wearing her just a little bit, I think. But overall she looks elegant and alive. IN.

And, btw, Happy New Year to all!

I don't know why you would bother being anorexic if you're going to wear a dress that looks like you're smuggling a hula hoop.
I like the top of the dress, but the bottom is ridiculous. And although they are quite attractive, her shoes look too big. I say meh. Not in, not out.

She is so fun. IN!

too many cats

When Beckham's your best fashion accessory, you should, Ms. Posh, always display him to his best. In this case, the accessory is woefully ignored. Bad Posh, bad, bad Posh.

I was afraid you were going to say she was out.

She's in. He's out.

Glad to have TLo back.

Posh is awesome, but what the heck is Becks doing in a g--d--- polo shirt?

Let's start off the New Year in the best way we know: by being really, really judgmental.

LMFAO! Happy New Year Boys!

what the hell i say IN.

Top Half IN, Bottom/Middle - OUT to the KENLEY - Hey did Dolce & Gabbana copy from Kenley? Don't they know that her designs are ALL original as she doesn't pay attention to other designers....THEREFORE they MUST have been "inspired" by her?

Anon 10:59

You love the boring black bustier top? Congratulations, you can find one anywhere.

granted fashion benefits from originality but not every thing original is good - hell Blayne's zodiac monstrosity and Jerrell's Olympic crap were original but - well flaming piles of crap.

Maybe things like a well executed bustier are appreciated because 1 they are attractive, and 2 well executed.

Perhaps I'm naive. . . and I never like to assume things. . . but is that what implants look like?

"When Beckham's your best fashion accessory, you should, Ms. Posh, always display him to his best. In this case, the accessory is woefully ignored. Bad Posh, bad, bad Posh."

100% on the money, cats.

Nah, don't love the dress, but I will say that Posh pulls it off probably as well as anyone could with that strange silhouette. I also think her face is made for short hair and I love everything she does with it; the crazier the better.
I can't believe I'm not sick of her yet. I'm usually tired of overexposed celebs after like 2 weeks. I dunno, she never bores me.
Agree with everyone who said she should have made her husband dress up a little more.

It has always struck me as incredibly bizarre that people whose religions forbid them from typing 'god' have no real problem typing 'g-d' as if it is not the exact same fucking thing. I guess it is ok to invoke his holy name for the sanctity of bitchily ripping apart somebody's outfit, but only if you don't type out the entire word? LOL.

I don't think things have to be crazy or original to be good. I just think it's ridiculous to rave about them. "Oh my god, I ADORE black t-shirts!!!!!"

The dress is very pretty and flattering on her. However it is too low cut, especially for Dubai. She would have been more elegant had she worn the little jacket from the runway or had the neckline raised about 2-3 inches.
I love the hair ornaments.
IN.

anon:

Who pissed in your wheaties?

I like the top HALF (I guess "bodice" would be the proper nomenclature) of the dress, but I dislike the shape of the bottom of the dress. I'm not down with bubble skirts...if she wants the illusion of bigger hips then might I suggest she consume more than a cheese cube and a glass of water. With that being said, I still think she's fabulous.

IN. But I'm not sure how I feel about the hair.

I love it! In in in.

Oh Kimberly, who "pissed in YOUR Wheaties?", to use your charmingly infantile colloquialism.

I do not care if you don't like the bubble skirt. I just think it's ridiculous to pretend the bodice is anything special. (If anything, it's a bit prommy.)

And oh, hahahaha! Cheese cube and water! Anorexia nervosa is hilarious! Can we talk shit about AIDS victims next?!

I love the dress. Its shape reminds me of the one Lee Ann did for the car interior challenge. I love the shoes and the hair, cute nice change. BUT, the absurd implants, the skin-covered cantalopes that appear at her collar bone render almost everything couture she wears into caritecture. She looks like a comic book villianous. Over-implanted = tacky.

I like the hair, but the dress isn't right, maybe as Lindsay B said, if it were a little bit shorter.

oh, anon, you're so angry! I hope your day gets better, love :-D

My first impression was that I was looking at a cut-out doll. The skirt's silhouette just looks so 2-D and not in a good way. Perhaps it looked more flattering in 3-D real life. But, all that said, I would have given Posh a reluctant IN except that she and Mr. Posh seem to be dressed for two entirely different events. And though he bears equal responsibility for that faux pas, for me, the discordance renders both their looks an OUT. Tisk, tisk.

Attention all Bubble Dress Haters:

I don't think this is a bubble dress. It looks more like a "fin dress".... more akin to the awful fin dress done by Kato than to any of the bubble dresses done by Kenly. (Of course it is a much NICER fin dress than the horror Kato sent down the runway.)

It looks fitted in the front and back with the odd protrubences (fins) at the side. Am I wrong?

-TLo Addict-

The dress is OK. I think it probably works better on paper than in reality, but it does look nice on her - implants notwithstanding.

That said, she really does need to wash and comb her hair. It looks like a greasy mess to me.

I can't quite tell who's missed the mark on this one: Beckham or Posh? If he was dressed appropriately, then she's out. If she was in the right, well, she needed to accessorize better (as in getting her man to dress accordingly).

I'm saying she's in, but only by a hair (and speaking of hair -- didn't like hers), and even if she did take that dress to a more absurd level than it was on the runway. At this point, aren't we used to her looking like a caricature most of the time anyway?

Come on...she's just so goddamn cool in whatever she wears...and that extra 8 ounces does wonders for her...

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

Happy New Year, Anon!
May Peace Be With You.

She looks great. Like you, sweing siren, I love the hair ornaments.

I'm just happy she looks so much healthier than the last pic we saw her. I hope it isn't a trick of the camera and she's eating a bit more.

I say in for that alone.

I say in. And is it me or does the dress make her look less like a stick person?

What an awesome way to keep my New Year's resolution of continuing to be bitchy and judgemental =)

Top part of dress = IN
Bottom part = Not sure....it's Posh....she manages to pull it off....but still...
Hair = In (Not for me personally but for Posh, SURE!)
Shoes = big time IN
Becks = oh gawd, SO In.

You are right! It isn't a bubble at all. It isn't like the fin dress either ,but I see were you are coming from.
The skirt shape is a novel version of a "peg". Which is fuller at the waist and tapers to the narrow sweep. But this particular skirt has very curved side seams making an egg or cocoon shape. It's really very pretty (I think). It certainly gives the old little black dress an edge.

Also in that picture, the dress looks really stiff, but I bet it looks much more elegant when you see it move. I should probably watch the runway show to see how the dress moves.

The dress and shoes are GREAT. However, the hair - not so much.

It's a squashed bubble, and bed head with a bow.

It's great that she's looking less skeletal. Love the dress, shoes are OK. Not crazy about the hair, but it's not horrible. IN!

Damn, I had so hoped the new year would have lost the crabby anon, but alas, it is not to be.

Really don't like the dress or the hair. But only Posh can pull it off. And it is good to see she has put on a few pounds. We can't see the manufacturer's name on the seam of the implants anymore.

SisterZip

I actually love the dress on her, although it does seem a bit like she had hip implants that exploded. But hey, its Posh, she rocks it. Not a huge fan of the hair, but it works.

Overall - IN.

i think that it would look better on her if she had kept it at knee lenght, but still for me it's more in than out (agree with the comment that for dubai she should have kept the jacket)
is it just me, or is she wearing the belt as a headband?

Yay! Let's get the 2009 party started!

She definitely looks better since the last time she was featured here in TLo Land!

The dress is....cute-sie.

Yes, Posh should definitely bend to the misogynistic and hypocritical mores of Dubai and cover herself from head to toe while the rich Moslem businessman who continue to crassly develop the area and treat it as their own sick personal whorehouse and playground.

swill booze and slam vagina like the Qu'Ran was printed on a Bazooka Joe sticker. Heaven forbid a modern woman not bow down to such 'traditional' sensibilities.

IN, but it's a skosh too long.

sewing siren, good to hear from you and love your bubble/peg skirt info !

posh, in
boobs, way out
becks, out

TLo in as always... Happy New Year !

Definite IN! and I agree with the other posters that she's looking healthier and more fabulous because of the noticable weight gain.

Didn't a designer on PR get her ass whooped for designing something like this?

If Posh has a problem with the political situation in Dubai (and I can assure you that I DO), it would be much more effective for her to protest by not visiting the country or spending her money there.
However, if a person is visiting a foreign country with customs different from our own, it is a polite and classy gesture to at least make an effort to follow them. No one is suggesting that she cover herself from head to foot. Simply raising the neckline or wearing the jacket (as the designer intended) would suffice.

I personally would love to see Victoria in a pair of jeans and a tshirt just once. The dress is cute, but her hair looks like it could use a watch, and it's been done up by a 12 yr old.

in. dress is a bit long. this is one of recent fotos where she doesn't look like she needs to be fed immediately.
but the husband--was he catching up with her from washing his car?

She really does look like she has put on like, half a pound, so maybe this is her fat dress?

honesty.not.pc

From her waist up IN, from her knees down IN. From her knees to her waist.. WTF? OUT!

Posh can wear just about anything and look amazing in it...provided that she looks healthy (which she does in this picture).

Why is her skin so damn shiny? Did she have to oil up to slide into that thing?

Any normal-sized woman wearing this dress would look like a football. But that's the magic of Posh.

Fabulous, love it. And I think I'm one of three people in the world who like her short, short haircut.

Yuck! Plastic.

everything is great except the skirt of the dress, that just kills it. On the runway it only looked OK because it was balanced by the jacket, which is missing here.

In. Love her. Great dress.

Love the look -- all except the circus boobs. Puh-leeze. They look like pool floats.

love it. IN. and she's posh- she can pull off anything. and i love her hair only she could think of so many things to do with hair that short. glad you're back : )

I'm not a fan of the dress for the mere mortal, but Posh definitely rocks the look. IN.

LOL @ the circus b@@b comments.

Posh, honey, you're BFFs with the designer. I'm sure if you asked, pretty-please-with-Splenda-on-top, they could have done something with the top to accommodate your, ahem, assets.

IN.
All the way!
I LOVE me some Posh!

The grapefruits are not a good look.

Yay dress, makeup, and shoes and jewelry, Boo hair

The differences in taste are always so striking.

-TLo Addict- I liked the fin dress from Korto MUCH, MUCH more.
In fact that dress was very form fitting - go back and look again.

This was so much less like Korto's or Leann's and I still say the skirt is FAR more like Kenley's (purple and 80's decorative fabric horror - episode 3- AND the zodiac nightmare).

And Angry Anon - I reserve the right to distinguish between 3 size too large baggy black t-shirt and scoop or v- neck cotton/rayon or silk blend flattering black t-shirt.

ANd w/ reference to the "damn" comments. I personally HATE that expression - it really is not hard to avoid saying it - I wish it were as easy to avoid reading / hearing it. Seriously IS IT Necessary to offend?

Forget the dress. Why is she Orange and Shiny?

tripletmom96

i must say that i am tired of seeing her squishing her boobs into tops that are clearly too small for them-- oh yeah -- she's showing them off. but i agree with some of the other posters that it gives her a bit of a characature look. i am glad to see she appears to have put on a few ounces - she actually looks healthy.

as for the dress -- she is one of the few people who could pull this one off. i'm not crazy about the shape of the skirt. love the shoes, but they are too big for her - what's up with that? if you look carefully at the close-up of the shoes you can see that there is actually about 1/2" of space at the end -- weird...

i also agree that the dress seems a little inappropriate for dubai. if the bodice had fit (covered her boobs) better and she put a jacket on it would have been much more suitable. i, too have issues with the culture over there -- frankly i have a difficult time respecting it, but if one is going to travel there, then it is only right to be respectful. would it have killed her to cover up a bit more? nobody is asking her to put on a burka, but exposing that much just seems crass.

Rather like the dress but its push-up bra aspect is very distracting since Posh has those half-grapefruits installed right under her skin. The girl should really downsize - those things don't fit her frame.

I actually LOVE the look. It's fun and youthful, and on her it actually softens her harsh look a little.

The best she has looked in a LONG TIME !!! I think she must have gained 5 or 6 ounces and now looks less like a Darfur refugee.

And Agnes Gooch ? Who better to look like a two dimensional cartoon character ? Actually I was thinking of her more as a paper doll

In. She looks better than she has in a long time.

IN! She is fabulous.

In. I think she looks fantastic. The hair really suits her bone structure, she finally has it at a good color for her skin tone, and the dress is so fabulous and fabulously POSH. I wannnnnt that dress.

I am just so glad that she doesn't look like a escapee from a refugee camp, that I can't help but to vote IN.

I will give it an IN on the merits too.

I agree she looks better in that dress than the model...IN!! I wish I could get my boobs to do that in a bustier dress! Happy New Year!

like the hair, the top of the dress, and the shoes. The boobs and skirt of the dress - out, out, out,

The Dubai hostess in the background looks more glamorous than the poser Posh.

i'm not dorothy gale

Happy 2009, sweeties, glad you're home.

I'm no VB fan but thought she looked terrific. The fact that the shape of the skirt looks like the Burge Dubai was inspired.

I would have to say Out. For one, the dress looks better on the model. Posh looks like a fan blade - I don't get the shape of the bottom of it. Her shoes are a little too-basic as well. Hair looks a little sloppy, like mom-on-Saturday-with-her-kids-at-the-park. And what's with David's shirt? With his look and her being not-quite-there, it's a definite Out. But whatev, it's fashion! LOL

My first impression was of the M&M costume you see people wearing at Halloween. Love the top part, but the bottom silhouette--not feelin' it.

Karen from Sac

Hot, adorable, absolutely fabulous as usual. And Posh didn't look to bad either!!
Happy New Year boys!!

I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH. :) Oh, she's so pretty.

She looks like a watermelon from the waist down.

The hair is a first-grader in the sandbox

Out.

I ADORE this woman. Her hair is so cute and shoes are to die for. IN.

Why was she ever considered in, or worth noticing for that matter?

Out. So Out.

I agree the hair is really cute, but the dress makes her look flat and fat, which is such a weird combination.

She looks perfectly cute all dressed up as a goth elf so why not IN! But to all who are dying over the shoes--please help me out. I clicked to enlarge and still can't see what is so amazing--the four-inch heel? Looks as if Posh wears 'em a size large--she's got lots of room around the heel. Maybe that helps with standing around?

i'm torn here. HATE the dress but somehow posh works it because she's malnourished and the dress actually does favors on her by looking like she had a cheeseburger or two. so i say IN?

I am sure the shoes are a freebie or loaner and that is why they do not fit.

TampaBay

She looks like a punctuation mark!

Ms. Vandal.

Welcome back my little lovely's! We missed you!

VB- She looks great in the dress and shoes are fab, but her hair? It looks dumb.

AD

of course OUT on Posh. Dreadful.

The Cavalli collection is devine, especially those v-neck short dresses. Always love him.

It's great but a little too long for her. I wish it hit just below her knee cap.

I think it's one of her better looks. Of course, that may be damning with faint praise, since I'm not much of a fan.

It's always something with her face that bugs me. The makeup and what in gods name did is going on with her hair? It looks like something Drew Barrymore would have done years ago.

I think the literal flatness of the dress perfectly compliments how 2-dimensional the wearer is.

In all seriousness, it's not the dress I dislike. It's an interesting design, not necessarily flattering or easy to pull off, but interesting. But on her, as with a lot of the things she wears, I think it looks completely overwhelming. You have to be quite a personality to wear something that veers into the realm of Avant Garde and not have it completely overshadow you, or worse, make you look like a desperate victim clutching to the nearest trend (in this case, extreme architectural clothing)... and when I say personality, I don't mean pseudo-style icon who shows up to the opening of an envelope. I mean someone truly interesting in some way.

I just don't think Posh manages that most of the time.

adorable! IN! I like her in the dress better than the model. Agree about Becks' golf shirt. WTF?

Dress is in
Shoes are WAY in
Hair? Cartoon boobs? Day-glo orange skin?

Out. Out. Out.

Don't like her hair. But she NEEDS those curves of the skirt to do something to her SICKLY figure!

I need to add to my list of New Year's resolutions that I will do Posh like poses when I am standing in line in the grocery store, at the bank, McDonald's and church while waiting to be served communion.

I like Posh's boobs in a Glenn Close in Dangerous Liaisons kinda way.

I thought she had David whipped somewhat more than his appearance would suggest.

Isn't Dubai more open (or relaxed) than other Muslim locales, at least the areas that is trying to be a glitterati playground?

In, in, in! Love Posh! Really like Becks but looove Posh especially in this dress.

IN, IN, IN but as to David, did he just come in from folding towels by the pool? OUT.

totally IN

Her skin is looking more and more like the shiny, orange-ish plastic that Barbies are made out of. Maybe she's just extra shiny because of the Dubai heat?

I HATE Posh...

But I like the whole getup.

The dress,
The hair,
The shoes *swoon*

= PERFECTION

It works - but only for her. I'd kill for the shoes.

I'm not in the mainstream here, I guess, because I like it better on the model. Maybe that's just because it's not a dress that looks good in any other context but the runway (and I understand POsh is always on a virtual one), but still.

Fits beautifully of course, and she looks great otherwise. I just don't love it.

IN. If you look closely, that is actually a headband that she is wearing. I LOVE it and her hair. I debated the dress but in the end its and OUT for me because of how crazy her implants look.
