Tom and Lorenzo - Fashion, Television, Pop Culture

2009 SAG Awards - Part 1

Slip into your bitchpants, ladies!

Teri Hatcher in Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2009

We have no doubt you're getting tired of hearing this from us, but there are certain colors that need to take a hiatus from the red carpet for a while. Namely, red, black, and white. Any pedants who want to point out that technically, two of those aren't even colors can zip it.

Having said that, it is a beautiful dress with beautiful draping. We only wish she had stuck with the wider belt.

Marisa Tomei in Elie Saab Spring 2009

See how refreshing it is when someone wears an interesting color? This dress is gorgeous, although the back is awfully fussy. Unfortunately, we're not convinced this is the right color for her.

Oh. We just figured out why so many starlets wear black and white. Because of snotty bitches like us saying "We're not convinced this is the right color for her."

And Marisa, honey? Fire whoever's been doing your hair and makeup lately.

Katrina Bowden in Christian Siriano Spring 2009

It's a cute dress, but it doesn't feel formal enough for the occasion.

Rosario Dawson in Dolce & Gabbana

Lorenzo thinks there's too much ruching on this dress and it looks too busy. Tom thinks she's got the body to pull it off. You decide. Either way, the hair and makeup look great.

January Jones in Andrew Gn Spring 2009

Points for wearing something different. Look, the whole reason to do red carpet is to get your picture taken and a dress like this ensures that she had a lot of pictures taken of her. Is it a pretty dress? We're not sure. It's eye-catching and different and that goes a long way with us. Perhaps a little too "Cleopatra meets Wonder Woman."

Marcia Cross in Carolina Herrera

Slap a mantilla on her head and send her off to the bullfights. Bleh. We no likey.

Evan Rachel Wood in Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2009

What a gorgeous color on her. And we love the little eagle pin as adornment.

Laura Linney in Michael Kors

Kind of a boring dress but the color looks so much better on her than that yellow Elie Saab she wore last week to the Golden Globes.

We realize we sound a little obsessed with color, but as we said, the whole point to red carpet is to get your picture taken, so to us, color is as big a deal in a red carpet dress as fit or taste level.

Kate Winslet in Narciso Rodriguez

Katie wants her Oscar so bad she can taste it and she's been showing up on red carpets lately looking every inch the Oscar-winner. She looks gorgeous. Great color and it fits her like a glove. Hair and makeup are flawless.

Nicolette Sheridan in Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009

Bleh. Another "Wilma." We don't love it. It just doesn't look formal enough for the occasion. Too much of a "Meet me in the cabana after you're done cleaning the pool" vibe.

Christina Applegate in Emanuel Ungaro

Great color, but the whole effect is a little dowdy and matronly. A lot of that has to do with the hair, which isn't doing her a lot of favors.

Emily Blunt in Pamela Roland Spring 2009

Now, THAT is a well-fitted dress. She looks stunning.

Evan Rachel Wood's is the only look here that I really love. That dress is beautiful and fits her perfectly. Agree that pin is a great touch. Not 100% on board with the purple clutch and shoes tho.

Oh my god you guys I love you! Fab post! Gosh, I love fashion...anyway, Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood look STUNNING! I didn't like January Jones' dress at all. I also agree with you guys on Katrina Bowden's dress. More appropriate for the MTV Awards or something like that.

I really liked January Jones' dress, but I thought she should have put her hair up.

jh :)

is it the dress? the body? spanx? or a combo of all those that makes the last one look like she was born in that fabric. it just clings to her in all the right places without any flaws.

It looks like 2 big trends this season are Wilma and Origami. Not crazy about either.

I think the big winner here is Kate Winslet. Gorgeous. And I love that she isn't a stick figure. I also love the Cleopatra dress. And love Marisa Tomei's dress from the front. From the back though, it looks like it was attacked by those damn origami napkin folders (this is what happens when you don't tip your waiter).

Marcia Cross however, looks rather Hitchcockian: Like she was ambushed by a crafty Brownie troop armed with glue guns and black cranes.

Rosario Dawson's problem is she's so gorgeous. Her body is like Beyonce's voice: Too good for the material it's given to work with. I'd love to see her in the right dress, (like I'd love to hear Beyonce record songs equal to her talent). But notice how much better Rosario looks in the picture that is cropped above the knee.

Evan Rachel Wood and Kate Winslet are total winners. In Kate's case, it is so nice to see a full bodied woman looking glorious. Emily Blunt's dress, while a fabulous fit, overshadows the boring hair.

If you had told me that Christian's dress was a Rami, I would have believed you.

I do laud Marisa Tomei's decision to go more natural with her look, but she really is doing herself no favors when she shows up looking like a new mother who just spent the last 48 hours awake with a colicky baby.

The Wilma needs to stop. Now.

Siiiiiick.

Emily Blunt looks like crap. Stunning? Hardly. The dress may fit, but it's tack as hell and looks like it came from Wet Seal about 10 years ago. She is a pretty girl, but her hair is fug and her makeup non-existent. She looks worse than Nicolette Sheridan, who appears to be on her way to an afternoon Orange County pool party.

Wow...Kate Winslet - va va voom. And I say that as a straight woman. My love for her knows no bounds.

I could not agree more with you guys about color. There are so many wonderful interesting colors out there to choose from, and so many wonderful interesting ways to combine colors. Embrace color, people! It makes the world beautiful.

I can't say much bad about any other than The "desperate" girls Terry and Nicolette who both looked a HOT MESS. Terry was poorly dressed and styled as usual, and well Nicolette looked like she escaped from her granny's beachfront house in Florida! And that Katrina Bowden person who looked like a Sophmore going to the winter formal but way less formal that an HS sophmore. Where did she get that dress from Charlotte Russe or Forever 21?

Oh, I forgot to add:

Evan Rachel Wood, why so surly? You are young and gorgeous and talented and working steadily. Would it really kill you to smile every now and again?

Tlo thanks!

Marissa's dress was too flimsy as far as support - you can tell in the pic and I noticed last night her right side was hanging

Seat belt dress on the woman behind Rosario (on the left of the frame) - I like the ruching

Kind of like Maria Cross's dress - just flattening though.

Embarassingly don't know who Emily Blunt is - but FABULOUS dress

Funny, when I first saw Evan Rachel Wood it didn't even register at first that this was a wilma. Maybe it's the extra drape over the shoulder. What a beautiful gown.

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

Wow, a lot of Wilma on the red carpet.

IN: Evan Rachel Wood, Emily Blunt, Kate Winslet

OUT: Marcia Cross, Nicolette Sheridan, January Jones (It looks like a costume)

She was in the The Devil Wears Prada movie; Miranda's assistant.

And hope to see something about Meryl Streep - I mean you don't have to try to compete with the gals in their early 30's, but for crying out loud, try not to look like someone just showed up to your door and said be in the loimo in 2 minutes - and you were standing in the laundry room.

I think they look great, with a few exceptions of course, especially Kate Winslet. She looks amazing and what a body.

Kate Winslet looks GORGEOUS. That dress is TO DIE. I love Narciso Rodriguez!!!!

I'm going to give Christina Applegate a pass.

I liked the look very reminiscent of Jean Harlow in 'Dinner At Eight'

...or was the Marie Dressler?

You guys are right for focusing on color so much. The wrong color can ruin a look. The right color can make a simple dress fabulous.

Teri Hatcher - I LOVE this dress. The white doesn't bother me, because it looks good on her. She should definitely have gone for the wider belt.

Tomei - Bad color, so-so dress. Yes, her hair and makeup have been awful lately.

Katrina Bowden - Don't know who she is, but she looks young and can pull off the shorter length, even for this occasion. Great color.

Rosario - Love.

January - Blech

Marcia - Hate.

Evan R Wood - LOVE!!! I want that dress.

Laura Linney - Love. That's a great color for her.

Winslet - LOVE head to toe.

Nicolette - Love the color/hate the dress.

Applegate - Love the dress/good color for her/she should have lost that pointless long necklace. Agree, her hair is too severe.

Emily Blunt - Yeah...the dress is definitely well-fitted and her body looks rockin, but this is what I expect to see on Beyonce...of course Beyonce would wear it three sizes too small, but still. It's a Beyonce dress. I'm sick of it.

Who the hell is Katrina Bowden? I suppose I could Google her if I cared enough but I don't... but whoever she is she did look like a teen on her way to the prom.

I loved Teri Hatcher's dress. It has a very Leanne-ish vibe.

Laura Linney's Kors dress is perhaps too simple but at the same time it's really pretty and looks good on her. The color is beautiful. But she needs to do something with her hair. And I know whereof I speak - I have similar, blonde, straight, limp hair. It's a challenge but a good stylist can do better than this.

Evan Rachel Wood - Fab. Every detail, fab. Kate Winslet also.

Everyone else - a miss.

The Carolina Herrera dress looks like something Kayne would've designed.

I hate the Pamela Roland dress. Too Reynolds wrappy.

Of course, Kate looks fab. Kate has a great sense of color and chooses accordingly. Laura doesn't alway have such a great sense of color, but the coral is a wonderful choice for her. And I like the dress. Simply, but flattering.

is it just me but I absolutely hate the one-shoulder look?!

Teri's dress is wearing her, not the other way around.

Siiiiick.

Kate Winslet looks like the Titanic in that. She is vacuum-sealed into that shiny, oceanic nightmare. She is a beautiful woman when she doesn't look like a burst sausage.

Oh, and apparently Teri Hather's stylist also occasionally mistakes her for a big piece of shit, since she's swaddled her in toilet paper for the occasion. I've never seen her look more...appropriate.

I totally agree with you. It's just too much fabric on her.

As everyone has already said, Kate Winslet looks flawless. I love the color so much.

TLo:

Any pics of Penelope, Taraij, and Angelina?

If I recall, Brad's babymomma was lookin' a hot mess, yet again. (Suspect babybump hideage)

Love Kate Winslet wearing the color of the season - electric blue. Love the deep v-neck, the straps...she looks GORGE!

Hatcher, Tomei, Linney and Sheridan (with Applegate on the cusp) look like they are dressed for a Spring event. Which would be okay if they were like you and me, and could only afford one formal dress, but they aren't so buy some godamn Winter gowns!
Blunt, Cross (sorry I'm a sucker for the bullfights), Winslet and Dawson are very pretty. Nobody went out on a limb though, they are all very conservative.

Winslet FTW!! LOVE her :)

I actually liked Marcia Cross' dress...until I scrolled down and saw ERW and Kate Winslet.

Kate for the Oscar win! She. looks. HAWT!

You can buy Emily Blunt's dress in any exotic dancer shop.

And has Marisa Tomei had some bad work done? She had the same (weird) look on her face at the Golden Globes and at the Inagural Ball.

Seriously, Emily Blunt's dress is total Frederick's stripperwear. Nasty.

I agree with the majority here: Evan Rachel Wood looks fantastic, what about those purple shoes and purse? beautiful! I'm so glad she is out of her Marylin Manson phase.

Kate Winslet looked gorgeous!

did Emily Blunt got some collagen or botox in her lips? she definitely looks different from the Devil Wears Prada movie (which I saw again recently).

thanks TLO for doing the award's fashion reviews! it's so much fun!!!

And the award goes to. . . Monique Lhuillier. I'm in love with the dress, and it looks great on ERW. Super chic, as you know who would say.

At first I thought the Wilma on Nicolette Sheridan was the Gucci Wilma from the other day. Actually, it's prettier than the Gucci, but still too Samantha-Jones-takes-a-vacation.

Terri Hatcher looks like she's wearing a bedsheet.
Marissa Tomei needs jewel tones and some gays.
Katrina Bowden looks spectacular. The dress and color look youthful and fun on her. Love it!
Rosario Dawson. I agree. Too wrinkled looking, otherwise great hair, makeup & dress color.
January Jones - a miss for me. She needs color.
Marcia Cross - love the blue on her, not the black. I agree she looks like a Spanish dancer in that dress.
Evan Rachel Wood - one of the best looks of the night.
Laura Linney - like the color on her, not the dress.
She looks uncomfortable in it.
Kate Winslet - LOVE that shade of blue. She looks great.
Nicolette Sheridan - you guys were right on the money about that one!
Christina Applegate - I don't like the dress or the shade of green on her. She has looked better.
Emily Blunt - gorgeous!

'Perhaps a little too "Cleopatra meets Wonder Woman."'

At least she left off the power bracelets they had the model wearing!

PS - Kate Winslet looks FANTASTIC!

Evan Rachel Wood - gorgeous in every way, kate Winslet too. Marisa Tomei - what is going on with that pompadour or whatever it is? and Teri Hatcher is frightning - I mean I like Botox as much as the next girl, but she needs to lay off for a while and hope her muscle tone returns.

I'm sorry, but I really don't love Kate Winslet's dress. It looks like a long-line girdle over a long flowing skirt, or something. The back (not shown here) has a very long black exposed zipper, and it just looks kinda crappy overall. I love her--just not that dress.

formerlyAnon

I think several of these would have looked like knock-outs but that the general standard in this batch of photos is fairly high.

I really liked Rosario Dawson's look. A lot. Props to Teri Hatcher, Rachel Wood, Kate Winslett and Christina Applegate (& their stylists), as well.

Hate to say anything bad about Ms. Tomei's dress as it was so much better than the last two of her outfits displayed on this blog - but I have to. Fabric cabbage roses are never glamorous or elegant in my eyes, so I can't even like the front of the dress.

My overall favorite might have been Ms. Applegate, except I think the green, while wide-awake, is a little harsh. I couldn't disagree MORE about her hair, though. I love it.

Especially when Emily Blunt's skinned-back-from-face, neither good nor bad hair follows with nary a comment. I was also impressed with the fit of her dress, and it did have visual impact - but really, I can't rave about a silver bathing suit extended into a full skirt. Fit the occasion, but the effect depends so much on the body/undergarments of the wearer that I just can't get enthused.

formerlyAnon

p.s.: While I know their choices (poor fellows) are generally more limited and more drab, any TLo interest in maybe doing an overview of the *men* on the various runways?

God knows, some of us *do* have opinions . . .

Terri Hatcher - It's a lotta dress, but she's working it.

Marisa Tomei - Once she puts her make up on, she will be ready to leave the house. I like the dress, her best look thus far this awards season.

Katrina Bowden - OK, I would have liked a more festive dress. Other than the Oscars, I am not opposed to wearing a short dress, especially on a young'un.

Rosario Dawson - Great hair and makeup, the dress is alright.

January Jones - The dress is wearing her. I think she would have pulled it off with better styling (darker hair in a chignon, light tan), still my favorite look thus far in the season from her.

Marcia Cross - I am perplexed and disappointed, more at Carolina Herrera than Marcia Cross. I love the silhouette and idea, but of all people, you would expect more refinement and impeccableness from CH.

Evan Rachel Wood - What a divine creature! If she threw a 1/2 cup chicken cutlet in her bra, she would have been perfect.

Laura Linney - She's wearing an inoffensive MK, I prefer the the GG look. Great smile, I want to be her friend.

Kate Winslet - Have mercy, I wanna drink your bath water girl!

Nicolette Sheridan - The dress is meh, but Nicolette is working it.

Christina Applegate - Love the hair, makeup, dress color and especially the smile. I am not a fan of the blouson effect on the dress.

Emily Blunt - Great fit, a less severe hairstyle and brighter makeup would have worked better.

A lot of that has to do with the hair, which isn't doing her a lot of favors.

I thought La Applegate was Annette Bening until I read the caption. Not a bad person to be mistaken for, but she is 20 years older.

Am I the only one who thought ERW was Gillian Anderson? Her makeup is so aging. Gorgeous dress.

On the whole I loved Linney's pink dress, and Winslet is a vision. I also adored Applegate, with a very 20's retro styling of awesomeness.

Beef and fur

Love the color on Evan Rachel Wood's dress....it's one of my favorite colors...the color of the dark blue on older blueprints...the eagle pin was a great touch. I love that color so much I've used it on the monogram and letterhead of my personal stationary for years...sort of a blackish blue, but muted down. Wonder what the name is? Midnight blue?

Disagree about Christina Applegate...the dress was sexy and seemed effortless and relaxed and breezy...loved the off the shoulder look (well, at least this ONE) and the chain necklace and other accessories...NOT dowdy or matronly at all!

I hope you get to it, but who was Sally Field wearing? It kinda looked like a Leanne Marshall.

I thought Evan Rachel Wood looked stunning. I didn't even know who it was at first.

SisterZip

My only problem with Christina Applegate's dress is that I really want to yank up that right sleeve. It's just a little too Flashdance for the red carpet. (or really, for any time/place that isn't the movie Flashdance.)

Evan Rachel Wood is becoming a fashion force. I thought Laura Linney's look was just right for her. Fussy hair, big jewelry and flashy bling looks wrong on this kind of woman. Better for the drama divas. Emily rocked her dress.

I loved marcia cross's dress...

Nothing was truly terrible, but agree some of the looks weren't formal enough.
She's young enough I suppose to get away with that, but she should ahve known better.

Still if you look good, you can get away with almost anything.

Great stuff! Minor quibble: I hate Emily Blunt's styling. Yes, the dress is great, but the makeup just looks blah and the overall effect is that she is, herself, a statutette. (Not meant as a compliment).

As for our dear JaJo -- girl seems to lack confidence on the red carpet. Look at her face and posture as compared even to the Desperate Housewives. Like she's not quite sure she should be there, or if she is there, why she should like it. She's letting the clothes wear her as a consequence, and that affects how we see her.

Darling, you are a stunner. Work it!

In my 64 count Crayola crayon box, it is called Cadet Blue. It is a gray blue. At least that is what it looks like to me. I love that color, too. Sky blue, Midnight blue, and Cadet Blue where my favorites. Don't think they have them in the box anymore.

SisterZip

Beef and Fur

I didn't think of Cadet Blue but I will look that up! :-) I just googled it and the color I was thinking of is Prussian Blue...this dress may not be that exact color but that's the color I use on my stationary. I like how the pewter tone of her eagle pin looks against the dark, muted color.

Oh, and Nicolette Sheridan? That's way too much "Elke Sommers guest stars on the Love Boat ABBA Reunion Cruise" for me. Roberto C. is channeling the 1970's I think....!

another laura

Winners: Evan Rachel Wood, Emily Blunt (even if I don't lerve that dress, wow), January Jones (I really like that Cleo-y thing), Terry Hatcher, Kate Winslet

Losers: Nicolette Sheridan, Marcia Cross, Katrina Bowden (whoever she is)

The rest are not striking me one way or the other, at least not today.

I vote for too much ruching on Rosario Dawson.

Beef and Fur

Could be Colbalt Blue....

Check out the Wiki link and click on the "Shades of Blue" link at the very bottom of the page....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue

Jone's fabulously theatrical dress needed an occupant who could wear it with panache and confidence; Cate Blachett would have made fashion headlines in that gown and given Winslet a run for her photo-op money. What a wasted opportunity.

Beef and Fur

Oh my GAWD....some sites are calling Rachel Wood's dress Deep Blue (which isn't even a color, but more of a description) or worse yet....y'all had better sit down....

TEAL.

(I just threw up in my mouth a little bit)

Please, dear TLo, PLEASE post to tell us the official ruling on the color of her dress?

Rachel Evan Wood's dress is absolutely teal, at least in these photos, even though it's a dark shade. I generally hate teal. But on this redhead it's working.

Also, now I see you're doing Part II - oh boy, those must be the hideosities, I can't wait for Part II and to get my bitch on!

Darlings, far be it from me to disagree with the masters, but teal?? The model picture is actually closer to cobalt, and I like the color (or how it looks in the picture) better on ERW. I don't know what to call it, but not teal! It doesn't have nearly enough green in it. According to this page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_blue
it might be considered YALE blue! But, of course, colors look different on different monitors, so who the hell knows? Whatever it is, I love it.

Please please please mention the grey napkin that Sally Fields was wearing, and I'm dying to hear your opinion of Kristin Scott Thomas's ghetto fabulous power bitch outfit.

Beef and Fur

I'm sorry, I had to go look at the naked pictures of Daniel Craig to recover from the shock.

Teal?

You said that just to torture me.... ;-)

Still love you guys, though!

Colors look different on computer monitors, and even different between different brands of monitors. Thus, it can be difficult to really pin-down a dress's true color (especially given the fact that 5 people will see a dress in real life, and one will call it purple, one violet, one lilac...etc).

The model picture looks pretty cobal blue on my monior. The ERW photo makes the dress look a bit lighter, maybe a tiny bit more teal...but not that much. I assume the dresses are the exact same color (if this isn't the exact dress) and would probably go more by the model photo, given that ERW prolly has 1324324324 lights and cameras on her. So, yeah...I vote not teal.

In regards to the color of Evan Rachel Woods dress- The chiffon is (fill in the blank) blue. It is lined in a forest green charmeuse that gives the color a lot of depth and an iridescent quality. The two colors combined look "teal" to me.

too many cats

ERW should use that third photo as her homepage; just enough of the blue to make her hair and face look great. The other two pictures have the color of the dress as too much and dominating.

I also found the third picture of Rosario to be different, but not in a good way. What is the matter with the ruche just below the zipper?

Only Laura Linney, Kate Winslet, and Emily Blunt aren't so scary-skinny that they look like bobble-headed dolls. Someone feed these poor women. If it's true that the 'camera adds ten pounds,' I shudder to think what these women look like in person (holograms?).

Anonymous at 11:51 AM said...TLo: Any pics of Penelope, Taraij, and Angelina?

TLo, I know you can't do all of these, but please consider
Julie Benz, Andrea Bowen, Viola Davis, and Christine Hendricks.

I thought Rosario was stunning, sex on wheels, but not in an over-obvious Salma Hayek way. Love it, love it.

Marisa, Marisa- why can't you stand up straight??? Most of your recent wardrobe criticisms would be fixed with posture. That and a bra. Even in a dress like that- your girls are not too big for the stick-ons. You better get your shit together if you're going to the Oscars...

Teri Hatcher... My god, woman. You look like the Joker with Javier Bardem's "No Country" haircut. But the dress is lovely. Nearly ruined it with that string belt tho.

Christina, Laura, Evan, Kate... kudos, ladies, kudos.

Emily Blunt doesn't look like a bobble-head doll? Marisa Tomei, Rosario Dawson, Marcia Cross, and Christina Applegate do?

The weight comments here utterly ridiculous, as always. Carry on.

Kate Winslet was GORGEOUS. I hated Emily Blunt's dress. I didn't like the color on her and thought the dress was really boring. January Jones' was weird... I think she maybe didn't tighten the neck enough. It seemed higher on the model. Here it looked lower, lowered her waist and made her look short. Can't say I hated it though, it looked great on the model!

On the issue of weight, I don't see any sternums sticking out, so I'm going to go ahead and say that nobody looks TOO thin in this group. (although Marcia Cross' collarbone is kind of scaring me)

I do agree that women look better when they don't look as if they haven't eaten in a month. I don't know why this has become the subject of so much bickering around here, but ok.

Best body in this group? Kate Winslet, definitely. She's luscious, and I'd be surprised if anyone called her fat.

Emily Blunt: agree
Christina Applegate: disagree
Kate Winslet: AGREE
Evan Rachel Wood: agree
Rasario Dawson: disagree
Katrina Bowden: agree

If Kate Winslet is working her way up to the Oscars, I can't wait to see her look for that!

huh... I don't like any of them.

honesty.not.pc

Kate Winslet knocked it OUT! That woman is my idol.

TLo - Thank GOD! All that talk about gorgeous blues and blue grey's, cadet blue ... the whole time I was thinking.. when the hell did I go color blind, I could swear that was teal (which I REALLY strongly dislike)!

And that is what I thought last night on tv.

January JOnes:
If you are going to wear a dress with this interesting collar, put your goddamed hair up.

Katrina Bowden needs to eat a sandwich, get her roots fixed and never ever part her hair in the middle again.

The most egregious part of Nicolette Sheridan's outfit is the pose. It's like she's posing as a garden statue.

Evan Rachel Wood looks good - apparently, she was suffering from a blow to the head and not complete dementia when she hooked up with Marilyn Manson, so the effects are not permanent.

I cannot comment on Teri Hatcher's outfit because I can't look at anything other than her face. The rictus mesmerizes and frightens me. I want my Mommy!

Well, what do you know. January Jones learned how to smile. And the dress was an improvement too.

Andy the Bunny,
Are you related to Greg(the Bunny)? If you are, say hi from Emma P.
I think he's hilarious!

LOL! My thoughts exactly! Except I was thinking more Reseda than OC.
Same dif!

EVR looks divine! Though, like Jen, @ 1st glance I thought she was Gillian Anderson. That's a little troubling, a 21 year old already looking like a 35 year old. Hopefully, she'll age as gracefully as she looks now.

I'm a happily married woman , but Rosario Dawson's lips kept ordering me to kiss her. That dress & how she filled it out was straight out of a 60'S Batman fight: BAM! BANG! POW!
That's the best I've ever seen her look.

Terri Hatcher took 1 of the Chateau Marmont's 500 thread count sheets, wrapped a swag basket ribbon around it & said, "Ta Da!"
Maybe w/ the original belt it would've looked like an actual dress.

Katrina Bowden's dress & the color looked more like a Leanne Marshall creation. Have we run out of our own ideas, Christian?

January Jones-- "I am a beautiful woman w/ nothing to be insecure about". Repeat.

Kate Winslet-- Goddess cubed. The styling, the dress, the accessories. Perfection.

Laura Linney-- You're a talented actress.

Christina Applegate-- that gorgeous 1920's silhouette-- that I've seen on her 15 times! Enough already. Get a new era!

Emily Blount-- Yes, it's all very movie star marvelous, just not very interesting. +, I'm slightly freaked out she's skinnier than the runway model.

Thanks for the rundown, TLo!
Can't wait for part deux!

I need someone to convince me why you would wear resort wear to the Oscars.

How about if Nicolette Sheridian's dress had not had the crazy arm thing? What if the two arms were the same? Better, I think, although still very beachy, pool party-ish.
emily's Blunt's dress fit her amazingly; she has a wonderful figure. That said, the dress looked like something a cheap stripper would wear on the pole.

Why didn't they hem Teri Hatcher's dress? It hangs so much better on the model because the length is just right for her, and Teri must have been tripping over it all night.

Does anyone else get the impression that Christina Applegate WANTS to look older? She seems to have been waving the dowdy flag quite a bit lately.

I covet Kate Winslet's dress. That color is amazing on her.

I love the lady that is standing behind Marcia Cross with the Laura Bennett neckline.

I thought Katrina Bowden's dress was Leanne's from her runway collection - I was surprised to see it was Christian's.

Great post!!!

I'm going to have to defend Katrina Bowden a little here.

The girl can't be anymore than 19-20 years old. She looks age-appropriate.

It's a cute, lively little number, and she looks fabulous in it.

PPS did her well.

I agree with you that she does look fabulous, but I don't think the dress and the shoes were appropriate for the event. Way too casual!

I want ERW's hair color like woah. She will definitely be coming with me (in a ripped-out-picture-from-a-magazine-in-my-sweaty-little-palm way) the next time I go to the salon.

Kate - what everyone is saying. Hot to death.

JJ's dress reminded me of that drama teacher who was kind of bohemian and kooky, but mostly made you uncomfortable as she swung around the classroom in her heavily broccaded, "ethnic" tunics that she bought a the local flea market. And she could have pulled if off, if only she'd done something equally interesting with her hair. As it was, the drama teacher just woke up late.

Katrina Bowden is barely 20. While she should have had her roots done and not parted her hair in the middle like another poster said, she does not need to "eat a sandwich" or wear a full-length gown. The SAG's reek far too much of pretension anyway, desperately wishing they were the Oscars or even the Golden Globes. She looks appropriate, even if I hate that dress.

OK.

Katrina Bowden's shoes are twisted. I have a pair of sandals that did that - then I took them to my shoe guy. It looks a little messy.

Rosario has the body to pull it off.

I'm sorry, I can no longer watch these shows no matter how lovely the gowns are because of the unspeakable crimes against decency worn by the MEN. Their "tuxes" (crappy black suits, really) annoy the SHIT out of me. The only one who seemed to have a clue was Tracey Morgan, and even he was doing something ridiculous with his scarf.

Why don't you want her to have a sandwich? She looks so hungry, I would gladly share my sandwich and even my favorite bag of carrots with her. Bobbleheads make me sad. Of course, that's because I have the ideal measurements: 10-12-10 inches (12 on the bottom, if you include my tail).

Oh, I don't know, I guess it's because I don't automatically assume anyone who's not morbidly obese is anorexic. PS Bobblehead jokes are really original and 'kewlz'.

When I saw Teri Hatcher's dress, the first thing that came to mind was that scene in "The Little Mermaid" when the Ariel washes up on shore with her new legs. She wraps herself in a sheet of canvas and ties a cord around her waist.

THAT'S what Teri's dress looks like.

Anyone know what kind of fabric was used for Evan Rachel Wood's dress?

Thanks in advance!

Beef and Fur

Someone earlier said it was chiffon lined in charmeuse.

I emailed Monique Lhuillier, Inc. about the color of the dress. I received a response. They are calling it "Steel Blue".

Hooray! Not Teal!

Rihanna wore that D&G dress Rosario has on a while back - in colour and on her, it looked amazing! on Rosario - a little bedsheet-ish
