Aaaand it's pretty much exactly what you'd expect. We can't see much to recommend in the women's wear but surprisingly, he's got some potential in menswear with a little (okay, maybe a lot of) tweaking.

Uhhhh, What was it exactly you liked about this collection? If Blayne's core demographic is carnies, then yes, he knocked it out of the balllpark!
AD
12/8/08 10:07 AM
Honey, no, just no. Bad Oompa-Loompa-Licious.
12/8/08 10:12 AM
Fugalicious!
The clothes: The blue and silver striped disco pants were...interesting.
The styling: holy mamatchka...
"I will say no more."
12/8/08 10:16 AM
Ugly-licious!
12/8/08 10:18 AM
fug.
FUG FUG FUG FUG FUG.
Why is it that he thinks overtanning is an 'aesthetic choice'?
uck.
12/8/08 10:18 AM
What happened to Richard Blayne's eyebrows?
12/8/08 10:19 AM
girlfriend is certainly laying the makeup on heavylicious.
12/8/08 10:19 AM
Was he on crack when he made all this?
12/8/08 10:19 AM
I can't.
This collection needs makeup remover, darning needles, deep conditioner, and a color wheel. This is a nuclear-hot ass mess.
12/8/08 10:19 AM
It's amazing what 2 pounds and a little eyeliner will do for a guy. Blayne looked good!
The clothes -- well, there were pieces here and there that were interesting. He definitely needs to focus on the separates.
12/8/08 10:20 AM
Ugh, no, never. Totally fugly, every piece. Just what did you think needed tweaking. I'd tweak it all right into the garbage bin. It all looks uber-hootchie to me - even the men's wear - if you can even call that men's wear.
12/8/08 10:21 AM
I don't know, Agnes--with those eyebrows and the guyliner, I'm getting a Carrot Top vibe from Miss Blayne...
12/8/08 10:22 AM
Well its certainly INTERESTING !!!
12/8/08 10:23 AM
OK, Miss Divine! How about he looked better? A little healthier than when he last graced our TV screens?
12/8/08 10:26 AM
It's a mix of somewhat interesting pieces and very fugly ones. Not-so-licious!
12/8/08 10:30 AM
I'll give you that, Agnes. Less...deep-fried...?
12/8/08 10:31 AM
No, no, no.
12/8/08 10:32 AM
This kinda reminds me of a watered-down version of Galliano's spring 2009 collection: lots of color and interesting shapes.
12/8/08 10:35 AM
What's with all the feathers? First Heidi, now Blayne. Do they all sit around and say 'ok, we're doing feathers this season'?
12/8/08 10:44 AM
It seemed a little dated -- like costumes for fake Hollywood punks in an early 80's movie. I liked the shape of some of the menswear though.
12/8/08 10:45 AM
Unicorns. Really?
12/8/08 10:47 AM
Feathers: Homage to Kenley (translation: he found them on the floor at Bryant Park and liked the colors.)
And he has come up with a new titscrepancy (purple and plaid dress) ....looks as if it were painful to wear.
New PR challenge: take the fabric in Blayne's collection and make something tasteful: you have two days.
12/8/08 10:51 AM
A few of these actually seem like something I could see in Seattle -
WOMENS
-The white top with pink trim (would be worn over skinny jeans)
-The gold dress with feathers (but minus the feathers)
-The sleeveless zip shirt with green 'stains' (echoes of American Apparel)
GENTS
-The pseudo-military black vest (for the gays out clubbing on a Saturday night)
-The unicorns sweatshirt (on high schoolers)
The rest? YEEEEE-IKES.
12/8/08 10:52 AM
The models all look like they've been crying their eyes out. I guess I would too ...
12/8/08 10:54 AM
One of the men's shirts actually said "UNICORNS OH HEEEYY".
Really? Really?
12/8/08 10:54 AM
Sigh.
I want so much for him to be a success - especially after seeing his eflicious face (hey, its the holidays). So full of expectation.
I think the menswear has... potential.
12/8/08 10:55 AM
My eyes! My eyes! It burns! It burns!
In terms of the clothing, meh. But the makeup and hair? Tanboi has just made Galiano look sane and polished.
Hollah atcha, Blaine! Hollah something like, "Stop it! Stop it right now!"
12/8/08 10:56 AM
Eighties high school punk - with a little stoner roach clip action thrown in there. Hideous. A trash bag shirt with safety pins would have capped it all off.
As Tim Gunn would say, "I think we have a taste issue."
12/8/08 10:57 AM
Well, it's a hell of a lot more respectable than Suede's BP collection... but that ain't sayin' much.
12/8/08 10:58 AM
Wow, Ms. Blaine certainly likes the nut-huggers.
Not the worst choice one could make in men's wear...
12/8/08 10:58 AM
Thanks for the Monday Morning wake-up Giggle. . . . but OMG ! the shock to my eyes Need Coffee. . .
12/8/08 11:02 AM

Those are some insane crotches going on.

12/8/08 11:06 AM
Ugh-licious! That's all I can say.
12/8/08 11:08 AM
I think my dad already owns the men's red plaid pajamas . . . .
How does one put this out there with a straight face?
12/8/08 11:08 AM
Sh*t-licious. "I will say no more", indeed.
12/8/08 11:12 AM
As FUG as it is, it still demonstrates that Blayne would have put on a less sucky Bryant Park Show than Suede.
12/8/08 11:12 AM
1. His hair is better.
2. The grey pull-over for the guys was OK looking.
3. Some of the male models were good looking.
BUT Ladies, these three items do not in any way indicate that with major tweaking, there is potential. Now quit smokin' crack.
(It was just the models that turned your head, right?)

Oh for the love of mike. Who underwrote this horror show? The investors behind this got nothing for their money except shame and a tart lesson. How did Blaine ever con anyone into backing him? Poorly fitting, atrocious juxtapositions and combinations. I'm really appalled.
Who would wear this except for self-loathing misanthropes?
Blaine, re-think your career choice. Then again, the marketplace will take care of that for him quite thoroughly and promptly.
All the best,
NDC
12/8/08 11:18 AM
So. Wrong.
12/8/08 11:18 AM
I'm thinking that that last model looks like he's made up for the starring role in 'TinTin: The Chelsea Years'.

12/8/08 11:20 AM
It's Blayne. No doubt.
12/8/08 11:22 AM
Catherine Malandrino would say, "Blayne, you are from another planet. I'm sorry, but you're out."
12/8/08 11:26 AM
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. I LOVE IT!!!!!!
12/8/08 11:26 AM
I kind of love the Unicorns hoodie. It cracked me up.
12/8/08 11:27 AM
Those poor models - of course, they are probably the only ones who will ever have to wear these pieces. I didn't see one single thing in that collection that was good. If I was native American I would sue him for ripping us off and making it ugly. And the styling was just unspeakable.
12/8/08 11:27 AM
It isn't THAT bad. Just not my style but I can definitely see CA folks wearing those.

Now TLo, were you looking AT the guys and not their garb? Based on your previous statements, these guys would appear right up your alley! :)

OK, sue me, but I do like the men's pants. They're hot.

Galliano is just as insane, the models look like clowns.

It looks like Blayne has lost weight, gone is that cabbage patch doll round face.
12/8/08 11:39 AM
I like his logo, does that count?
12/8/08 11:40 AM
Heather Snow: Should I be offended for all of CA??
What a waste of fabric and thread.
12/8/08 11:46 AM
It's a fabulous collection. African and tribal-inspired accessories are very in right now; not to mention bright colors, bare chests, fabric mash-ups ~ seemingly right on time and right on trend.
12/8/08 11:48 AM
ROCK ON, BLAYNE!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!
12/8/08 11:49 AM
No. Nope. Never. Yay for unicorns.
12/8/08 12:00 PM
....very very 80s...and NOT in a good way
12/8/08 12:00 PM
Ya know, I like alot of this, but then again, I "came of age" in the 80's and I love bright colors, so there ya go. It's definitely clubwear, but nothing wrong with that. Plus, the male models are hot, and I, too, like his logo. Thumbs up, Blayne, don't ever change!
12/8/08 12:03 PM
Wow!This is SO BAD I cannot even believe he ever made it to Project Runway. It is laughably bad - even the mens' wear. Dreadful!
12/8/08 12:05 PM
I'm almost speechless. Almost.
But you know what I liked? the red plaid. Plaid rocks. And the zebra/tiger-y fabric. I don't think I like what he did with it, but it's a yes.
Big hate on the color/print combos. It is giving off a fashion-fake-punk vibe, isn't it? That's an automatic ick from me.
And on a personal snarky note, Blayne, dahling, go bald gracefully. Please.
12/8/08 12:07 PM
Some decades/trends just should not be revisited. I came of age in the 80s too, but I wish that decade would just go away and die somewhere.
12/8/08 12:13 PM
I just threw up a little in my mouth. I can hear Nina saying "Oh, it's NOT boring! I will say no more."
12/8/08 12:14 PM
I am at a loss for words, but I think I will try "horrible".
12/8/08 12:15 PM
Dear lord. Anyone else ever think they'd actually see pants give a MALE camel toe? Those blue/gold striped pants especially. GROSS. The crotches were just "insane!"
12/8/08 12:20 PM
What the elf was that? I am trying to figure out the materials he used in some of the pants ( pleather, perhaps, lycra?) I have to go listen to a Flock of Seagulls now.
12/8/08 12:20 PM
I want the plaid outfit and the guy in it for Christmas.
12/8/08 12:22 PM
I'm LOL with the comments here. What a nice way to start my Monday morning.
12/8/08 12:22 PM
OMFG, this is the first time in my life I wish I had gone blind before I looked at the collection. My cornea's are seared. Did anybody else get what I am sure he thought was a very clever play on words with naming his new line? 'Richard Blayne' is the name of Bogie's character in 'Casablanca', but Licious added a prominent black bird to his logo like it was the name Bogie used in 'The Maltese Falcon'! Only our Sunkiss-ed Orange 'don't know the Beatles' boy could run both films together in his head..ROTFL

MY EYES are BLEEDING!
I think everyone who thought Blayne should have lasted longer - owes the rest of us an apology!
Diapers were just the beginning and a sign of things to come.
Of course someone had to be responible for the crap you see in some teen clothing stores.

I'm okay with that.
12/8/08 12:42 PM
Unicorns? I wouldn't be caught dead in an article of clothing that had "unicorns" written on it b/c I'm an uptight accountant, but I'll bet the person who has the balls to wear Blayne's clothing would be awesome to party with.
12/8/08 12:42 PM
He definitely has a point of view, doesn't he?
12/8/08 12:44 PM
Thanks for adding the video, guys! Blayne ROCKS!!!!
12/8/08 12:44 PM
The comments are funnier than the clothes...and they are pretty hysterical! Anonymous 10:03 said "If Blayne's core demographic is carnies, then yes, he knocked it out of the balllpark!" Too funny! Can't stop laughing about that one! But back to the clothes...I was looking at them going yuck, gross, NFW, hideous, etc., but could picture someone MUCH younger and MUCH cooler and hipper and clubbier (is that a word?)and sluttier, and addicted to crack possibly going for them. I still love my little tanorexic, though!

Most of us saw it and got it in the 80s. We're over it now.
12/8/08 12:49 PM
Christ on a crutch! That is heinous. I will say no more...
12/8/08 12:52 PM
The real tragedy here is that Blaine missed his time...the 80's would have been perfect for him...not that the clothes would have been any better, but at least they would fit in.
12/8/08 12:53 PM
There is a market for this type of designs as I see the very young (ages 16-21) wearing this stuff all the time in Tampa, Florida and at the near by beach clubs. Blayne's clothes would sell very well in the Junior departments of Macy's-Florida
Blayne Licious is not my cup of tea but, believe it or not, not everyone has the good taste or money(especially at 16-21) to wear Chanel, Calvin Klien, Armani and/or Hugo Boss.

OK, there's an orange jumpsuit in the video that made my mouth drop.

also, what is with the emphasis on the guys'... bulges? is that suddenly kosher?
12/8/08 1:31 PM
"also, what is with the emphasis on the guys'... bulges? is that suddenly kosher?"
I DO NOT object.
12/8/08 1:32 PM
I love the use of color - it's like a crayon box exploded but in a good way.
12/8/08 1:33 PM
I kinda liked the green/white jacket and the feather necklace was whimsical. The purple pants had me giggling, those are stand up only pants fo sho!! I couldn't fit ONE of my cheeks in those....hehehee!
Did Blayne INTENTIONALLY make the Tom ford 4 prez model look uncomfortably sexually ambivalent? Aw, screw PC: that look was a hot tranny mess.
Nice "basket" on the white shorts. Carson Kressley would be proud.
12/8/08 1:33 PM
More here on Blayne's two-day event in Hawaii.
12/8/08 1:34 PM
Okay, so it's terribly fitted and incredibly tacky, but all things considered, it wasn't nearly as bad as I would have expected. I mean, it's BLAYNE, after all. There's definitely a market for this. At least it's better than Suede's collection. Faint praise, to be sure, but there it is.
12/8/08 1:35 PM

I don't think it's horrible. I actually like a few things if worn with something else or slightly edited. I agree with TLo; I actually like quite a few of his menswear pieces.
12/8/08 1:44 PM
Is TLo going to the Downturn Denial Party/Sales event at EMc2? Pretty please post about that glamourous affair,if you do go.

12/8/08 2:01 PM
I couldn't get past the color - colors - stunningly bright colors - discordant colors - over saturated colors -
I have no doubt it's to someone's taste. I'm left with the feeling that there were a lot of nearer-than-I-thought-they were misses, that I couldn't see because of the colors and the styling (hint: the eye makeup shouldn't be focal point of the look!).
I also bet there are a lot of design students out there thinking that their last end-of-term student show was more successful.

That's entirely possible. However, I don't see any young people here (major Texas university) wearing anything like. Maybe I'm driving past the wrong clubs on my way home to an early bed time, my flannel jammies and cocoa.
12/8/08 2:13 PM
Love the men's baby blue sweater with the crossed neck, and like the women's green and white zippered top (only not so tight!), but everything else is a big miss for me.
And he looks so different! What is it? I can't quite put my finger on it.
12/8/08 2:13 PM
I don't want to watch the video again, but did Blayne say something about a "Blayne Foundation"? Heh? A foundation in support of....?!
I thought the eye makeup on the PR Philipine's winner's models was garish. Blayne outdid him. But some of those male models were sure hot.
Why Hawaii?
12/8/08 2:18 PM
My eyes!! My eyes!!! They burn!
And for anyone who would say I'm "too old to get it..." Yes, I am no longer in 6th grade. Which is about the age I put aside my trapperkeeper bedecked with these colors and started wearing stuff that didn't burn others' corneas.
Admittedly I saw the occasional shirt or detail that I actually liked ... but I had to block out flashbacks to 80s pens and folders to see them.
12/8/08 2:32 PM
Well, I think Blayne looks good. But he needs to lay off the tanning. He truly looks like a persimmon princess.
The clothes...
Um....
Well, I'll just say that they are not really my cup of tea. Maybe good for clubbing in Seattle, though?
12/8/08 2:41 PM
Oh for the love of God!
Those are the ugliest clothes and ugliest styled models I have ever seen. Sometimes ugly can be pretty, in this case ugly is eye searing.
12/8/08 2:41 PM
GROOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
First reaction: The styling is horrible
Second Reaction: He should design for American Apparel.
12/8/08 2:42 PM
And OH GOD who the hell did the makeup? Did he have a friend who started doing makeup last week do it? It's just terrible, it looks like a 12-year-old with a crayon did it.
Gag.
12/8/08 2:48 PM
Okay after re-looking over everything, I have to say *okay* there are a few PIECES that are okay but there's not one outfit that is put together correctly. The overall effect is horrendous.

I can definitely see people 16-20 wearing this stuff...I already do, on the college campus where I teach in southern California. Maybe just not all of it together.
For those who don't remember the 80s, I guess this seems like a good idea.

12/8/08 4:24 PM
Oh, MY God, No!!!
12/8/08 4:26 PM
Man it's really hard to see the clothes past all the makeup.
Blayne basically makes clothes for New Romantic indie bands. There's a clientele for this, as hard as it may be to believe for some of the older fellows in here. He could probably fit right at home designing stage wear for CSS and Natalie Portman's Ponytail, if isn't already thier designer. Of course, this is also assuming /either/ of those bands could afford a designer/stylist. CSS maybe. But I doubt it.
And TLo is totally right, the menswear > women's wear. There was actually some pretty interesting things going on in some of the pieces (the blue and silver striped pants are outrageous and would probably actually sell amongst NY bohemian types) If Blayne figures out his clientele (which really isn't the fashion elite, and I hope he realizes it) then he might just make it after all, /in spite/ of being a reality TV show punching bag.
12/8/08 4:32 PM
Mindblowingly hideous.
12/8/08 4:41 PM
I liked some of the pieces.
Question, TLo: I don't understand this whole "collection naming" business. Blayne's is "Richard" Blayne, and even Kayne was "Jonathan" Kayne. Where do the surnames come from?q
12/8/08 4:46 PM
I don't even have opinions on the clothes because I was too distracted by the fug-licious models. Blech!
12/8/08 4:48 PM
I like some of the menswear.
Still is poorly presented, badly executed, and has weak fabric choices.
I feel bad for Blayne--any individuality he had in his personal style on the show seems to have been stripped away, and been replaced with 'generic gay elf'. It's funny that Sophia Lamar singled him out when the show first started airing as the 'shitty faggot' of the group, because that's exactly what he has become.

I saw CSS at a festival earlier this year (don't tell anyone that the old folk were there!) & you're right - though I *had* assumed their stage wear was a thrift store/Goodwill/home-sewing assemblage, NOT something sold in stores and which afforded designers, etc. a payment if not a living.
Having lived through the progression of punk fashion from home made to edgy boutique to mall store, I guess I should know better.
12/8/08 5:03 PM
I was also an another designer from the fashion show. The fashio show composed of four venders, two designers (one being me and the other Blayne). Yet, the fashion show is in celebration of Blayne new collection. I am happy that he stayed true to his vision since there are always a niche in fashion.
We have such a different vision that is hard for me to critique Blayne vision.
Best of luck to the guy. He is sweet.
12/8/08 5:03 PM
What a fucking nightmare of a collection!
Just about every male model looks like he hates his life and everybody looks like they need to put the meth pipe down.
And speaking of, when did Blayne morph into Estelle Getty's methed out daughter??
12/8/08 5:03 PM
um. LMFAO.
hahahhah. NOOOOOOO.

Richard Blayne?? No, no, no!
Rick Blaine - casual wear.
Rick Blaine - formal wear.

Suckalicious. Horrid color palate, and styling that only a retarded hipster could love.
FAIL!

Thanks for the link, Bettie. Quite interesting!

"Oh Lordy" - is what I said when I read the post title "Licious."
And "Oh Fug" is what I said after I saw the collection.
I couldn't decide between what was fuglier - the styling or the sternum-baring-ode-to-Jerrell tops. I've decided they're both terrible.
"A lot of tweaking"?? Oh you bitches are too polite =)
12/8/08 5:53 PM
No. Just no.
12/8/08 6:12 PM
NO
12/8/08 6:30 PM
It is amazing how anyone can show a collection these days.
12/8/08 7:09 PM
This stuff is so ugly it makes me want to cover my eyes with my ears and cry. No man should ever wear pants that tight. Save a little bit for the imagination!
12/8/08 7:16 PM
I'm getting flashbacks of shopping at Units in the 80's... then watching a Poison video??
12/8/08 7:18 PM
How can you not love those looks? They're hot as hell insane crotches and all.
12/8/08 7:20 PM
Blayne, you rock, you so delicious. Congratulations!! Gorgeous collection!!!
12/8/08 7:25 PM
Ugh, looks like they all slept in their makeup. D:
12/8/08 7:30 PM
You guys are so funny. Good joke. You almost had me believing that someone would actually present that mess as clothing.
12/8/08 8:11 PM
Agh. It's like 80s meets London meets Native American meets sailor meets tranny meets sportswear.
12/8/08 8:20 PM
I. WANT. THAT. UNICORNS. SWEATSHIRT.
YOU ROCK, BLAYNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12/8/08 8:21 PM
styling, blayne, styling. this was horrible. Those dots under they eyes? the gold masks? ugh...
i guess he was going for futuristic punk. that's the only way i can describe it.
12/8/08 8:28 PM
"It's fresh, it's young, it's very very cool. You people are too old to get it."
i'm 16.
and i think blayne hasn't come to terms with the SCENE HAS ENDED.
srsly, neon, unicorns, stripes, ravewear, and skintight girl jeans yet made for boys, are so
TWO YEARS AGO.
honestly, i was wearing this shit in 2005, embarrasingly
12/8/08 8:40 PM
Vomitalicious!
Dear GOD...is he serious? Attempting to lay his claim as "Designer for the Freakshow"?
Please, boys...let this one go. We don't need to follow Blayne's "career" into oblivion.
12/8/08 9:14 PM
You know, given what Blayne put on the runway week after week during his stay on PR, I was actually very curious to see what kind of collection he was capable of putting together. Now, I feel kind of bad for the guy. None of this looks like anything new or different from what we've seen in streetwear and on the racks of American Apparel over the last two-three years. How work on PR was just outrageous, but this collection just seems derivative and unprofessional.
On a much more positive note, the comments from this post were truly inspired and absolutely hilarious.

The second model looks like she has two black eyes. The fifth model looks for all the world like there's a 10" cock in his pants. Yowza. And the titscrepancy on that purple dress is going to give me nightmares.
12/8/08 9:18 PM
i can't really get behind this.
blayne looks like a girl these days.
12/8/08 9:24 PM
WOW! And I'm from LA.
12/8/08 9:25 PM
Some of the looks are young and hot. I don't understand why people hate them so much. It's not for everyone, but certainly not bad. I think the pants are hot, some of the tees and the sweatshirts.
12/8/08 10:12 PM
Blayne seems like a very sweet guy on PR and I wish him well. But his idea of fashion I'll never understand. At least he has one friend here posting for him several times. But honestly, how could anyone back this stuff up?
12/8/08 10:19 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't even look at the clothes, I was so distracted by the styling. God, the HAIR! And the makeup. I want to say 80's, but I don't actually recall seeing it to that extent in the 80's either.
Big fug. Big BAD fug.

This is a nuclear-hot ass mess.
Okay, I have to start working this into daily conversation. It fits this collection so well, but it's transferrable to so many other life situations as well.
12/8/08 10:49 PM
That is 100% ass. And Blayne looks like hell!
12/8/08 11:22 PM
Lotta polterwang in the women's wear (Thank you, GFY girls for giving me a succint means of expression)
12/9/08 3:18 AM
OK, I have a bit of a soft spot for Blayne.
Random Thoughts:
* I like certain elements on some of his clothes - the collars on the blue and red plaid shirts, his scrawled messages, and the animal prints.
* The makeup is bad, he is trying too hard.
* I agree that Blayne shows more promise in menswear. He also shows promise as a stylist.
* I think that Blayne will do well if he designs for himself: the slacker, skate punk, bright color wearing, don't take themselves too seriously crowd.
12/9/08 7:30 AM
It all looks like cheap mall stuff for teenagers. I know some 14 year olds who would love his clothes.
12/9/08 7:43 AM
"It's a fabulous collection. African and tribal-inspired accessories are very in right now; not to mention bright colors, bare chests, fabric mash-ups ~ seemingly right on time and right on trend."
We all know that's you Blayne.
12/9/08 8:06 AM
for the love of all that is tasteful and right...
just stop.
12/9/08 8:36 AM
Wow. When I first saw this it made my eyes cross, but I think I get where he's coming from:
Maybe it's a sober and chilling commentary on the economic crisis. Maybe charging obscene prices to make people look like homeless insomniac meth-heads is his ironic and artistic way of expressing outrage at the consequences of rampant American consumer culture.
12/9/08 8:44 AM
Lord, what is Blayne trying to do with his hair an makeup? He looks like Sandy Duncan after a bender!
12/9/08 8:44 AM
It's definitely Blayne.
But he's not the only PR whose made "interesting" clothes since the show...
Remeber Bongkirschner and Elisa?
12/9/08 8:47 AM
I think the male models are all wearing Calvin Klein Body Steel manny panties with Profile Enhancer.
12/9/08 8:59 AM
Aside from the use of bright colors and a couple of the pieces (gold nylon-y men's windbreaker, the zip-up hoodies)...this looks nothing like American Apparel. It doesn't even have the right 'vibe' to it (pretentious poser hipster vs. weird streetclown punks).
I like a couple things about the menswear (those blue and silver pants are equal parts ridiculous and fierce), but he still needs to learn how to edit...and how to let go of womenswear. If women want to maybe wear only one thing for every 25 you produce, it's probably not your forte.
12/9/08 9:02 AM
PS Everything looks really poorly produced. I assume he made them himself...and maybe it's time to take some classes. It's hard to imagine that financial backing went into these. His fabrics are terribly cheap.
12/9/08 9:57 AM
Blayne's own face is morphing into a 50something Cathy Rigby, possibly with the same eating disorder.
Where's the Blayne who edited up so nice on PR?

That's entirely possible. However, I don't see any young people here (major Texas university) wearing anything like. Maybe I'm driving past the wrong clubs on my way home to an early bed time, my flannel jammies and cocoa.
The collection taken as whole is not that bad for what it is designed for target market/customer.

I enjoy "crazy" clothes if they are particularly provocative, unique, or innovative, but as somone said earlier, these look like costumes for fake punks in an early '80's movie. Yes, there is definitely a market for these kinds of clothes...but I'm not really convinced that Blayne could compete in it.
(Also, the brand "Richard Blayne" sounds upscale, and is extremely incongruous with the decidedly lower-tier clothing that Blayne produces. He needs to take some marketing classes. That logo doesn't really go either.)

Ouch, that's mean! But you're right. He looks like my aunt from Miami in that photo. And she's 50.
I think he's trying for the surfer skateboarder boy look, but it ends up looking old lady. Maybe no eye makup and less tan would look much fresher and cuter on him. There is something very sweet about Blayne, it's just a shame he dons that senior citizen look. He can do so much better!
12/9/08 12:17 PM
GAH!
There is nothing RIGHT about this collection.
12/9/08 12:50 PM
TACKYLICIOUS!!!!!!!!
12/9/08 9:50 PM
Maybe charging obscene prices to make people look like homeless insomniac meth-heads is his ironic and artistic way of expressing outrage at the consequences of rampant American consumer culture.
lol, homeless insomniac meth-heads is right.
I'm not even going to touch the styling, because it is INSANE, but it looks like what you'd expect from a high school student if asked to design something "different". Maybe he should work on getting a licensing deal with Hot Topic.
There may be a few redeeming pieces that could work, but worn with something else and styled differently (my god!), but overall it just looks like he's trying too hard. Oh, and he's got terrible, terrible taste. That doesn't help.
12/9/08 11:12 PM
oh my. I am so not his demographic! [who is?]
12/10/08 2:09 AM
Looks like A Flock Of Seagulls is back for a reunion tour and their back up dancers and roadies all have their look!
Editing would be a really good thing to for Blayne to learn.
12/10/08 10:42 AM
Horrid.
12/10/08 4:08 PM
Yuck. As a Seattle resident I'm ashamed for our city. What a nightmare.
12/11/08 12:05 AM
Oh, my stars and garters.
After that first dress--one good sneeze and we'll know her natural hair color for sure--nothing could make me look at more.
What a waste of fabric.
12/11/08 10:09 AM
Not my taste, but I will say this. Blayne didn't photograph well but he looks much much better in the video. He really is a cute sweet guy. I bet this guy has a heart of gold. He seems like a good soul.
Just can't get his fashion sense. At all. I want to say something nice, I really do. But it looks like a thrift store got bombed and the models picked up random clothes off the floor and threw them on. I just don't get it.
12/11/08 10:16 AM
Everybody keeps saying that Project Runway is too rigorous. "Real designers don't draw or sew." So let's give [Richard] Blayne a chance to show us what he really can do. Hire people to sew the clothes. What results? The most ill fitting, poorly designed, aesthetic disaster. I don't know how he made it to Project Runway in the first place.
12/13/08 6:33 PM
My momma said keep my mouth shut because I can find no redeeming quality, anywhere.
12/15/08 1:59 PM
HOLY SHIT! Poor Blayne.
1/19/09 10:42 AM
I have to say, I do like the collar concept on this sweater.
But the styling sort of ate it.
I think if you put black bars over the faces on the models; the clothes might look saner.
