Heidi wears something not tight and only a little shiny while she pats the remaining designers on the the head and sends them on their way. Kenley TOTALLY listens to everything Tim says! Totally!
The producers lock Kenley in a closet so all the other designers can trash-talk her before she shows up. Drama!

10/7/08, 10:01 AM
They could at least say "hi".
That is a bit cliquish to not even acknowledge her presence, even if she should've been auf'd three different times.
10/7/08, 10:03 AM
Yep, Miss Jerelldine is auf'd.
I'll stick to Pepsi tomorrow night instead of the champagne.
And Judy's eyebrows are scaring me!!!
10/7/08, 10:06 AM
Kenley: "I'm into ropes!"
Tim: "You make me want to hang myself!"
Windy City Wendy: "I die."
10/7/08, 10:11 AM
Okay...so here's my sleuthing.
I think Jerrell is out.
In the preview at the end of the last episode they showed Heidi looking to her far left to say "I'm sorry, you're out!"
And in this preview, they show the 4 designers and he's on the far left.
My only doubt comes from a comment Leanne made "I'm so proud that I've made it this far" as she boo-hoos her eyes out in the preview.
She's on the left as well.
ACK! If Jerrell is out, heads will roollllll.
10/7/08, 10:17 AM
We don't know that they didn't say hi. We just know it wasn't shown in this preview.
But awkward entrances happen every season when people go home, see the episodes that have aired and hear what was said in the confessionals. And Kenley certainly has said plenty.
But, yeah, I'd have to agree that I'm afraid Jerell will be out. Ain't no way the producers will let the Happy Trio own Episode 14. That would just violate every rule in reality TV.
10/7/08, 10:17 AM
Did anyone find Korto's hailing the cab hilarious? She probably stopped all traffic.
10/7/08, 10:18 AM
I wonder if the last challenge is the bridal dress.
And I don't if it was just edited to make it look like no one said hello to Kenley, but if not and they didn't.....that is SUCH grade school behavior.
10/7/08, 10:19 AM
I meant to say...I don't know if it was edited....
10/7/08, 10:24 AM
Wait, Heidi gave them one more challenge before they left. . . and then Tim gave them another as soon as they get back? This show is losing control of itself. . . either that or the promo editing is insane.
10/7/08, 10:29 AM
"Garish" doesn't fit either Korto or LeAnne. So, yes, I agree, it looks like the auf will go to Miss Jerrelldine, which is a shame because he's really grown on me a lot. He's clever, funny, sweet, bitchy and has a unique vision and talent.
But, guy-y-y-y-ys, I'm starting to feel bad for MeanGirl! Look at her with that sequined hat cocked to the side and that frozen grin plastered to her face. When she entered the hotel room and the others were so cold, it made me feel a little sorry for her. I know she lacks self-awareness and is cocky as hell, but the others aren't behaving any better than she's been this season. I'm still rootin' for LeAnne, and truly hope they don't pull another Jeffrey on us.

10/7/08, 10:29 AM
Kenley: "I'm into ropes!"
Is this part of the reason Tim described Kenley as 'our own Bettie Page'? ;)
Hmm, Tim and Kenley in the confined space that is her apartment (I'm assuming). You know he was checking the exits the entire time...
10/7/08, 10:31 AM
Wait a minute, Kenley is reviled because she gave fodder to the elves to come off in an obnoxious way while anything that shows the other designers in a bad light is editing? This is getting cartoonish, all the hissing and booing of Kenley while putting halos around the other three.
10/7/08, 10:32 AM
Kenley is into rope? Give her enough and she'll hang herself....
As far as the second preview, I think it would have been gracious of someone, anyone, to just say hello and offer her a glass of wine. But then, maybe they do and it's just edited out for drama.
10/7/08, 10:33 AM
Are you all ready to say goodbye to Jerell? You know it's going to happen. Sigh.
P.S. I HATE HER!
10/7/08, 10:36 AM
Her line about respecting Tim's opinion is BS! She probably watched the episodes and saw how they were portraying her and decided to do some damage control.
10/7/08, 10:36 AM
The kewl kids not saying hi...
I would bet a million dollars that its edited.
Just like in the s.2 finale when Danny V. chose Uncle Nick as his assistant. Then, they injected the Santino rolling his eyes.
What bad editing, almost of FOX proportions.
10/7/08, 10:38 AM
So if the wedding gown is the twist who is going home? Jerell I guess.
10/7/08, 10:41 AM
Awwkwaard. Wow, say hello people. She maybe annoying but she's no neck tattoo.
10/7/08, 10:42 AM
How is it that they are surprised that there is yet another challenge? There is always something new thrown at the designers just before Bryant Park. It's so predictable.
10/7/08, 10:44 AM
I think that Korto, Leanne and Jerrel ignoring Kenley was an edited scene for the pure drama of once again having a "meanie" in the finals. I would think that at least they would have said hello at some point.
On another note, I'm confused about the last challenge, or challenges. Was one done before they left for home, and another done when they got back to NYC??
10/7/08, 10:45 AM
Why say hello? This woman is horrible.
10/7/08, 10:45 AM
Remeber in season 1 when Jay says to Wendy, "I wasn't planning on talking to you but you ARE a human being". I Can't remember if that was in a preview or not, probably not.
I hate to say this but I can't wait until this season is over, even with the fabulous rungay fellows to make it funnier. Maybe the new production company will have some new ways to edit Runway? I kinda hope so.
10/7/08, 10:45 AM

I think Heidi announced that there would be a new challenge but that Tim would explain later or something like that. That's my guess.
10/7/08, 10:50 AM
When Tim is giving them the additional challenge, the designers' wedding dresses are already hanging on their rails in the background.
If the elimination is not the wedding dress, what is it?
Hmmm...
10/7/08, 10:51 AM
Jerell, Leanne and Korto get along well and that wasn't what the producers wanted. They wanted some drama and that's why they kept Kenley.

10/7/08, 10:55 AM
First of all; don't we all know by now that the editing in previews is always misdirection?
It seems like this extra challenge must be the wedding gown.
I also just thought of something as they were leaving: I'm wondering if those designers who don't live in NYC are at a disadvantage when they are making their collections, because of lack of access to the fabric, etc selection that a NY designer has.
--GothamTomato
10/7/08, 10:59 AM
I know the editing is always deceptive, but Heidi clearly says they will be creating 10 looks for the final runway show.
And at fashion week each designer showed 10 looks.
So the "extra" challenge didn't result in an extra garment on the runway.
So...do they have to replace one dress? Are they told in advance to create only nine looks, with a tenth look to be created once back in NYC? Did the surprise challenge have nothing to do with the final runway show??
Hmmmmm
10/7/08, 11:00 AM

Ditto. It's not a continuous shot, so they probably at least said an awkward hi but nothing more.

They'll probably give it to either Kenley because she sucks or to Noodles because of her noodles. Blech. Korto, I'll buy your clothes.

Very edited. I doubt very much they wouldn't at least say a polite hello and try to get along. Enough time has passed and they are more rested. I'm sure they were fine.
At times like this I feel the editing is a bit insulting to the viewers. We don't need the fabricated drama, really.
All signs point to Jarrell being auf'd. Are we even playing a lounge challenge? The outcome seems obvious. I'm almost certain I'll find a Tim Gunn bobblehead under my Christmas tree, because my husband knows I've been playing for weeks to get one.

I just caught a few minutes of this rerun. The producers would be wise to study season one and rediscover what made this show so good in the past -- inventive challenges, time spent showing the creative process, showing the designers interacting in real situations and, most importantly, talented contestants!
10/7/08, 11:45 AM
Tim must have liked Jerell's wedding dress during the home visit, so they had to invent yet another challenge as a way to screw him out of his "top 3" spot.
I do have to say though, after having seen his BP show... if they did indeed rob him out of his spot in the finals, he is an amazing sport about the whole thing. His attitude and presence on the runway is pure joy and pride, and not at all sour grapes.
Good for him!
10/7/08, 11:49 AM
People would watch at this point no matter what. For that reason, I can't buy into the idea that Kenley is being kept because she produces drama and makes people tune in, although that might be why she was kept in earlier weeks.
I think the producers/judges were scared of a Jerell BP collection, which was warranted.
10/7/08, 11:51 AM
I could only watch the 2nd video. It seems like such obvious manipulation to have the least liked person (who lives the closest) to arrive last. That gives all the others a chance to gang up again. I feel like if Kenley had had time with any of other desigers alone, probably the fences would have been mended. It seems silly for them to not say hi when she arrived. According to Leanne's confessional, that is what happened. We didn't know what to say? How about "Hi".

Korto is in Little Rock, AR. It is a fairly 'large' city, but she could always run up to St. Louis or Kansas City if they don't have exactly what she wants. Memphis, Nashville...Dallas isn't too terribly far either. I think she could get almost anything she wanted.

Maybe she had time to take a chill pill before he got there.
Enough about her. Let her go build treeforts and jungle gym with her ropes.
10/7/08, 12:16 PM
So, what happens here? Is it what I think it is? That they are told that they have 8 grand and 2 months to put together a collection because the judges want to see their best work. Then, when they come back they are given another last second challenge and forced to throw some couture something together in a few hours and the results of that are what decides who goes to Bryant Park?
Please tell me I'm mistaken, because that is double bullshit!
P.S. I got my Emmett tote from QVC the other day! Love it!

Whether they said hello or not, I would not blame them one bit. By this time, the show has aired, and they've heard all the nasty things that little twit has been saying about all of them.
You reap what you sow (or in this case, sew). Actions have consequences and when you treat people badly, you get treated badly. Yea, they really could have at least said "hi." That is just - so bad.
But I don't feel bad for Mean Girl. She laughed at people on the runway twice, and she dissed Tim and the judges.

10/7/08, 2:05 PM
Am I the only one who noticed that everyone but Korto showed a wedding dress in their collection?
That doesn't 100% mean to me that she's out, but it would make sense.
Maybe you get to choose if you want to replace one of your ten looks with a wedding dress or not?
10/7/08, 2:06 PM
I don't really see the big deal. Korto, Leanne, and Jerell are close. Kenley, not so much. It's not like they turned their heads, folded their arms, and refused to acknowledge her presence. It was just an uncomfortable silence. I certainly didn't expect a big ol slumber party where they giggled together and braided each others hair.
This final challenge thing is ridic. Basically, it's a surprise do over and potentially only benefits Korto and Kenley who were in the bottom two. If I were Jerell or Leanne I'd be annoyed.

Felt the same way.
Between that zodiac challenge, Terri's tripping, and La Leatha's departure, it just feels sort of...empty.
I also think its because of the obvious producer-driven drama and the tactics being used to keep mean girl around.
The show has really cheapened itself.
10/7/08, 2:37 PM
I am so disappointed with this season. It's so lame... There is absolutely no heart and soul in these people, look at the bovine way they look at the beginning of each episode when Heidi addresses them... looks like they could not be more bored or personality-deprived.
I'm over it! Look at the 1rst season of PR Australia! Give me a Leigh! A Sophie! A Julie! A Mark!
10/7/08, 2:55 PM
Sometimes it seems as though none of the designers have EVER watched an episode of PR. If they did, they may have figured out that every year, some obnoxious person with lesser talent ends up at the finale. They could have planned in advance to put on their Grown-Up behavior. Kara Saun at least had the excuse that it was the first season.
Hey guys, you know this is gonna be televised, no?
10/7/08, 2:59 PM
Very staged, with the entrance. It's not even subtle anymore. While I do think this is edited, I don't think the feelings the three have towards Kenley are unwarranted. In a way I feel bad for her, but the other part of me is thinking she won't learn a damn thing and be just as terrible.
It's obvious she grew up on that Tugboat completely isolated, because she has no sense of what's on trend or anything.
But I do think the producers are trying everything they can to eliminate Jerrell. It's now just ridiculously obvious.

Do a google video search for PR Australia and you'll get several options for watching. I really really wish TLo would blog it because it was so different from what PR is this season. Passionate people! Kindness! A little bitchery for good measure (Helen) but there was more talent (Lui! And with everyone suing everyone else and an injunction against Harvey so he can't promote (and probably cannot broadcast) PR on Lifetime, who knows when we'll see Nina grimace at Mrs. Seal's short tight and shiny outfit again?
As for alternates, go to YouTube for PR Australia (pretty good), PR Canada (fabulous, and Iman as host puts Heidi to shame) PR Philippines (meh - did nothing for me) and Project Catwalk (loved season 1 and I'll start watching season 2 next month.)
Mean Girl never thought about people being strangled when she came up with a bulky rope trim around the collars? I guess her reality distortion zone remains fully intact.
And what is with the ridiculous idea that Kenley spent weeks alone at sea with her Pappy the captain? Hello, it's a tug boat, not an ocean liner. They probably docked every night and they probably lived in a conventional house on dry land. Geez, some people are making it sound like she was raised by pirates. Arrrrrr, mateys!
And I'll throw out a spoiler - (stop reading now if you don't want to know the final three.)
The Boston Globe interviewed one of the contestants (I can't recall which one) at Bryant Park. The eliminated designer let slip that "It's nice that it's an all girl finale this time." So unless Jerell makes a quick trip to Sweden, he's auf this week.
10/7/08, 4:31 PM
I'd be amazed if it weren't Jerrell getting auf'd--his BP collection was kind of a mess when compared to the other three. He's a sweetheart, but he has an issue with consistent taste. Some of his stuff just goes off the rails. Even with the challenges where he's won, he bumps up against a little much too much.
I like a couple of Kenley's BP pieces. I'm sorry she's so obnoxious--it makes it hard to appreciate what skills she does have.
Honestly, though, I feel like any of the top four from Season 4 could have beaten this group. Providing somebody could have convinced Chris March to cut off the hair. I just keep comparing the museum challenge to the botanical garden challenge--such a huge difference--even Sweet Pea's losing dress was a lovely little dress--just too simple, while any one of the other four's designs were really quite lovely and distinctive.

"myra flection said: G Tomato...I now suspect that you MUST be a Manhattonite as I don't think people in the other boroughs are so insular."
Seriously?
But the reality is, any designer working in NYC, has a larger and wider selection of fabrics, trims, notions, etc available to them; that can be at their fingertips within minutes. That is not the case in small towns. That's simply a fact, even if it upsets those small town folk and makes them want to complain about those big city elites again, gosh darnit, Charlie.
It IS an advantage to be where so much of what you need is so readily available, and does not have to be shipped or traveled for. It means you are more likely to get what you want rather than having to make due with what you have. That can be critical when working on a creative project, on a tight deadline, as these designers are.

It would make sense if they had a challenge just before they left and one when they get back. Don't they usually have $8,000 to do 12 outfits? Heidi says they have to do 10. The other two must be the challenges?
10/7/08, 6:38 PM
I think GothamTomato's right about fabric choices. I live in Silicon Valley--big urban area, but the closest store with a major fabric selection is Britex up in San Francisco. If it's like that around here in an area that actually has a clothing industry, I think designers outside of New York, L.A. and Chicago probably are at a disadvantage in terms of selection.
Certainly, you're not going to get a House of Spandex with green leopard Lycra in most cities . . .

If you watch the video of the fashion show on YouTube you can catch a quick glimpse of a couple outfits that were not pictured amongst those released. I'm guessing they have to create an 11th look once they hit the NY.

I live in Tucson, AZ and we have a FABULOUS fabric store that is off the beaten path with stuff you wouldnt image, and neither would Ms. Joann :)

Every time I get exasperated with these last few episodes, I think of Leanne's collection and smile. And that shot in the previews of Tim and Leanne on a tandem bike. Priceless. I so hope she wins. It would be the first time my choice has won since Season 1!
As to the other raging debates, being based in NY may provide a fabric advantage but only 1 of the 4 winners has been NY-based so it doesn't seem to be much of a factor.
And as much as I hate how Kenley monopolizes all the discussion here just as she does in real life, whether she and her family spent a lot of time at sea depends on what kind of tug work her father did. Here in the northwest, there are basically two kinds of tug boat trips - the short hauls piloting ships into the harbor and the long hauls pulling cargo barges up to Alaska and other places. If Florida has a long-haul cargo equivalent, some of those tugboat trips could have taken awhile.

I also just thought of something as they were leaving: I'm wondering if those designers who don't live in NYC are at a disadvantage when they are making their collections, because of lack of access to the fabric, etc selection that a NY designer has.
You mean Kenley? Her fabrics range through tired, pedestrian, hideous,
and then she hit on an occasional boring cliché. Am I missing something?

Isolated? She said her dad was the captain of a tugboat, not the Donner party!
He probably never went farther than the harbor. He wasn't shlepping penguins to Antarctica.
The tugboat tale is nothing but a non sequitor.

Touché. I should know better. Hell, one of my best friends works on a tug in Cleveland. He lives in a normal house like a normal person. Just call me a bonehead.
I think it was more to me that Kenley kept going on and on about how she was so deprived because of her dad's profession. I most definitely did not articulate myself effectively.

maybe the final challenge outfit is a bathing suit for when this show "jumps the shark"....as it seems to have.

oops! The wiki page shows Korto as the winner! Is it a red herring, tho? hmmmm.

I think the Wiki entry -- which has already been deleted -- is phony. Especially because it showed Jerell as being in the finals, which I have a feeling isn't going to happen!

Kenley didn't use the revolving door in the first preview so now I totally hate her.

I agree with those who reccommended having a look at PR Australia. Unlike the UK's horrid Project Catwalk, it has quite a loz of talented people. And to make things even better, most of them are genuinely nice! There is some bitchiness, but even the "bad" chaqracter is later having fun with the others at the reunion. And the three finalist all seem to genuinly like each other.
Whether the the designers are as good as on the original PR or not, I found it a lot more enjoyable to watch than the manufactured drama and producer-enforced Kenley-show we have been given lately.
Whoever ends up producing the next seasons should have a look to realize that cheap drama is not necessary for a good show. In fact, it is much better without it.

Just went over to Wiki and Korto is still listed as the winner - if this is true, well, that's...that's just ridiculous! There's no way Leanne doesn't deserve the win, and this is coming from someone who LOVES Kenley's collection.

ANYONE can enter ANY information on Wikipedia. That is NOT official!

Well, playing Nancy Drew, Korto was the only one who changed her MySpace mood to "vindicated' and then "triumphant" after the finale. And she's the only finalist promoting the Regis and Kelly appearance tomorrow on her MySpace even though they all recently logged in. If it's true I think it's kind of sucky. I was pulling for Leanne.

Why should they talk her? Didn't she say something like she didn't want to talk to them last episode because she wanted to go to Bryant Park?

I know the editing is always deceptive, but Heidi clearly says they will be creating 10 looks for the final runway show.
It's ten looks. I was there.

I can't wait for tomorrow to come. I'm actually anxious : )I know. Silly me.

Am I the only one that doesn't care, since I know they all show at Bryant park anyway?

I think Korto is auf'd and the final three are Jerrell, Leanne and Kenley. It is sad, but I feel Korto abandoned her own design aesthetic in her collection. Where was the creative vision based in her African roots (except in the jewelry she made)? Where was the volume, the unusual fabrics and silhouettes..? I guess we will all see tomorrow night, but I have a deep sense of dread about her chances.
10/8/08, 3:47 AM
I'm totally on the 'not saying hello is edited,' boat. Been on this ship since season one and through other Bravo shows, I know very well not to trust our little editing Elves.
So we'll see.
Oh and Jerell is so aut.

I think i might die in anticipation for the next episode : )

YAL, thanks for the recommendation. I'll keep an eye out for the Canadian one. Besides, Iman is way more organic and intriguing than Heidi.
Plus, she's got the cooler husband, too!

@ glammy:
I think GothamTomato's right about fabric choices.[...] If it's like that around here in an area that actually has a clothing industry, I think designers outside of New York, L.A. and Chicago probably are at a disadvantage in terms of selection.
I live in Seattle, a city that doesn't have much in the way of fabric stores. When I want to do "serious" fabric shopping, I go down Judy Noodles' way to Portland, which has some excellent ones. I also order a lot of fabric online.
If I had a thing for prints or truly unusual fabrics, I'd either have to fly down to SF or LA to spend a day power-shopping, or else order swatches from online sellers. Yes, that's inconvenient, time-consuming, and expensive, but that's just the price I pay for choosing to live in Seattle, not NYC, LA, or SF.
When you live away from cities with huge fabric stores and lots of choices, you adapt. No, I don't have access to anywhere near the range of fabrics, trims, buttons, etc. that a New Yorker or someone in LA would, but I still have access to more than enough fabrics suitable for a high-fashion collection.
The challenges on PR are all about creating successful results despite limited means and materials, and despite the designers' own shortcomings (such as never having done swimwear, menswear, or plus-sizes). Korto created her collection in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jay created his in Nowheresburg, Pennsylvania. Neither of their collections suggested to me that they suffered due to a lack of access to more fabric and trim choices.
And Christian, living in NYC, had some serious disadvantages of his own to overcome--he created that collection of his in a room about the size of my bathroom. He had better access to fabrics, but an extremely limited workspace. (And, it should be noted, his fabric choices were not exotic--I don't recall any fabrics used in his collection that I couldn't easily get my hands on.)
You don't need an endless selection of fabrics to be a great designer; in fact, I'd say that being able to make the most effective use of simple, basic materials is the best measurement of a designer's skill. Design is all about "making it work," whatever "it" may be.

Leanne has become more haggilisshious over time. I find it troubling.
