Jerell has something to say about Terri:
"She's got two faces and four patterns. That's it. Don't trust the bitch."
And thus, our Jerell love grows exponentially. THAT is one primo bitch statement. We salute you, Sternum Lad!
Is Terri a bitch? Maybe. A little. Certainly, this:
...wasn't exactly endearing. Although Terri says on her MySpace Page:
"They edited the episode this week made it look like I was making fun of Korto's outfit, but in fact we were all laughing at it in its initial stage - even Korto. Korto and I are really good friends and we still keep in touch."
Mkay. If you say so.
As for the look:
Feh. It's just alright. Kinda getting tired of seeing pants from Terri, even if, like these, they're pretty cool-looking pants.
Trying to look at it objectively, we can say that it's a pretty decent effort overall. It's just that we're kinda done with this look from Terri. Like Suede's entry this week, she seemed to be phoning it in, design-wise.
The top's okay, but it's really hard for us to get behind mesh as a fashion statement. Too many flashbacks to Desperately Seeking Susan wannabes.
Like we said, the pants are pretty cool. You could argue that, like Joe's entry, they have a bit of a NASCAR feel to them, but for whatever reason, these work for us.
Everything's well fitted and well executed. The proportions make her look fit and sexy. On all technical points: well done.
It's just not something that really excites us, y'know? Terri, we know you have it, so step it UP, girl.
Joe. Joe, Joe, Joe. What are we gonna do with you? We're all "We can't make straight-guy jokes every week, because that would just get lame fast." So what do you do?
You put out another NASCAR monstrosity that forces us to bite our lips lest we blurt out "ONLY A STRAIGHT GUY WOULD DESIGN THAT!"
We complimented Jerrell for evoking a luxury car interior for his model, but Joe's looks EXACTLY like the interior of a car. Like she just poked arm and leg holes through the seat covers and slipped them on.
There's nothing fitted or flattering about this look. And call us snobs if you want, we hate product logos on clothing. We don't care if the designer is trying to be ironic; it's tacky.
Of course we're being unfair by evoking Joe's heterosexuality in his design. Straight guys don't have a monopoly on tacky and BELIEVE US, gay men have NOWHERE NEAR a monopoly on taste. No, this entry didn't suck because a straight guy designed it. It just sucked on its own and we shouldn't resort to stereoty--
OHMIGOD, look at HER HAIR! JESUS, these straightboys don't know shit.

Loved Terri's pants, but the top kind of killed it.
Those are the kind of pants that La Leatha should have made.
I have a feeling that Miss J's assessment of Terri is kind of correct, but I could tell she was totally ribbing Korto the way that girlfriends always rib one another. There was no malice there.
As for Joe, I like the guy, and he does put out decently made clothes, but I didn't get this look at all. It's a little too big for her, and looks like a piece of cardboard wrapped her.
BTW, doesn't Joe's model look alot like Thandie Newton?
9/3/08, 10:06 AM
I am from the home of Nascar and Terri's pants are nowhere near it! Other than maybe being made out of leather. Stylish and hot, I want them in men's. The top, however, was eh (and was very reminiscent of Kelli's NYC-night-on-the-town look). Terri definitely needs to expand her design sensibility a more if she hopes to make it all the way.
Joe's, however...ugh. It looks decently made and everything...I can't say it's terrible...but I hate it nonetheless. The gap between the top and the skirt is atrocious, and I agree, logos are death. Not really bottom 3 material but it was one of the looks I liked the least.
9/3/08, 10:08 AM
Looking at both of these-
Picture it- Westerville, 1984. I'm at a slumber Party and we're going to watch Children of the Corn. We just snuck Beth's panties out of her duffle bag and froze them. We just did each other's hair and make up and we look, more or less, like Madonna. After the movie, we're all going to cut up our sweatshirts like Flashdance! Someone brought some day glo puffy paints and we'll paint the shirts too... After pizza, we called Jeff to see if he liked Kim.
Yeah, those looks look like they'd be pretty comfortable in one of the videos we watched that night.
9/3/08, 10:08 AM
Now, see, I really like Terri's look. I thought it should be top three instead of Jerrell's. The pants fit well and the shirt is attractive, and while it's a lot like her other looks, it was executed well and worked. I guess I do give extra points for trancending materials. I forgot that the model was wearing seat covers and cargo netting.
Joe's dress? Y'all nailed it on the head: a bucket seat with arm holes. He should have included a giant pocket on her butt for the road atlas and sun visor. Actually, I might have applauded that!
9/3/08, 10:09 AM
Huh? Waddya know? I thought Terri's top was very close to the one Terri herself made out of mops in ep. 1.
9/3/08, 10:12 AM
Hahahahahahahaha! Snort! "Straightboys don't know shit"
Hahahahaha! Snort! How true. I'll be giggling about that last picture all day.
9/3/08, 10:13 AM
And I thought Topacio's fauxhawk was kind of cool.
9/3/08, 10:14 AM
If Terri hadn't made pants in almost EVERY challenge, these would have been more appreciated. They were great looking. But the design as a whole, was kinda milktoast to me. I'm scared to say that out loud. Terri may hunt me down and cut me.
LogoJoe just needs to quit with the logos. Loved his design for Varla, but my love stops there.
9/3/08, 10:16 AM
They are both MEH for me. No imagination or innovation. Terri, same old, same old, and Joe....ehhh, BORING.
Neither was in the bottom three, which is how it should have been. The designs weren't AWFUL....that's the best I can say.
9/3/08, 10:16 AM
Okay, I agree with the hair, but come one! That's one great sporty outfit.
If you're gonna give Stella kudos for marrying her aesthetic to each challenge, you have to do the same with Joe.
Now, Jerrell-my-love was just joking about Terri. You can see the smile & twinkle in his eye as he says it.
I thought Terri's outfit was strong & sexy. That's Terri's aesthetic. However, the same silouette is getting boring & frustrating.
And Xaviera works the heck out of her clothes.
9/3/08, 10:25 AM
I don't know, I'm not loving Terri the way I used to anymore. I guess she wasn't kidding when she said that she could do pants in a few minutes. That's all she does.
Joe's designs to me are very ordinary; there's nothing interesting or innovative about them. There's no "wow" factor. Quite frankly, I don't know why he's still in the competition.
9/3/08, 10:25 AM
I'm still on the TerriLove Train but girl is definitely frazzled. That rolling on the floor thing was bizarre. Jerrell's comment was priceless =) And probably a lot truer than we're being shown on telly.
Joe? OMG. Snore. He's not making it to BP.
9/3/08, 10:39 AM
I loved how Jerrell smiled all sweet while delivering "don't trust the bitch!".
Terri's top looked like something from hot topic but I want those pants!!
Joe's look was definitely middle of the pack but showed his sports wear background so I don't hate it as much as some others. I agree with you on the logo loathing. A little too obvious IMHO.
9/3/08, 10:40 AM
It's not just the pants Terri's beating to death... how many times have we seen a top with straight-across line, worn with something over top? Olympics, mops, Saturn challenge... entirely possible there were others. And the tops never seem to fit right... always reaaaalllly low on the bust (and in the case of the Olympics, made the model look like she'd been bound!)
9/3/08, 10:41 AM
Terri's design: Zzzzzzzzz. Seen it before, and it's getting old. If I were Nina (and some days I wish I was), I'd start trotting out 'I'm Boored.'
Just because you can whip out pants in record time does not mean you should always include them in your design. Show me some dresses!
Joe: Oh my god, did you attach your model to the car battery just to get that styling? WTF?
9/3/08, 10:43 AM
Tim loved Joe's outfit, so maybe close-up there was something there, but on TV there was no there there. Your Bucket-seat-cover with armholes exactly nails it. In it the model had no breasts, no waist, no hips, he could have modeled that thing himself. I'm forgetting that Joe is still on the show.
Given the materials Terri did a fab job on the pants, I want a pair. As for the Black skin-tight top with netting, now which of the millions of 80s heavy-metal videos did Terri get her inspiration from? It didn't need shiny to look cheap, short and tight were enough.
9/3/08, 10:48 AM
"She's got two faces and four patterns. That's it. Don't trust the bitch."
One of my favorite lines of the season. Yay Jerrell!
Terri's was well executed but the outfit looked like everydaywear for a biker or rocker chick. Nothing popped. No wow factor. I had thought that the pants were made from painstakingly sewn seatbelts. Now that I see that it's stitched "leather" upholstery, I'm even more underwhelmed by it.
Joe's was ass plain and simple. It also was reminsicent of a bad Olympic challenge design. And the hair - yeah, most straight guys don't know shit about that stuff.
I won't even get started on those shoes.
9/3/08, 10:51 AM
Ya know, I was kind of rooting for Joe, being so out of place. And I loved the pink hotsuit. He just needs to break out of the stereotype!
Jesus Christ, I'm swimming Motor City Straight Boys here in Michigan. I watch PR to get away from all this automotive crapola!
Joe, something frilly, pretty please??
9/3/08, 10:52 AM
At first, I thought Terri's pants were made from seat belts that she aligned perfectly with those pants. So I was disappointed when I went back and saw it was seat covers which already had the stitching on it.
9/3/08, 10:57 AM
"She's got two faces and four patterns. That's it. Don't trust the bitch."
LOVE HIM!

According to her myspace page she did all the stitching:
"I felt I should have been in the top three because of how I created the outfit. I top stitched every piece of the fabric with red thread. The pants were car seats that I had put together to make that motorcross pants. That takes a lot of detailed work and know how. That means "Terri ain't no punk"
9/3/08, 11:00 AM
In Terri's defense, when you are so tired like they probably are at this point, you can get punch-drunk really easily. And the way Korto said, "I'm hating on you" was said in fun.
9/3/08, 11:03 AM
"Like she just poked arm and leg holes through the seat covers and slipped them on."
Dead-on.
Terri's looked fierce but I was turned off by another pair of pants.
9/3/08, 11:03 AM
I was a Desperately Seeking Susan wannabe - at age 8!! Oh boys, I wish you had gotten the screencap of the cheesy smile-for-the-camera-grin Jerrel pulled right after he made his "Don't trust the bitch" comment! It was priceless - it just needed one of those orbit gum sparkles in the corner!!!
9/3/08, 11:04 AM
I'd say she's got two faces and two patterns.
9/3/08, 11:07 AM
I'm suprised more people don't bring attention to Terri's model.
My God she is a beautiful woman. She is by far one of the most gorgeous models ever to grace PR.
I think she's even more beautiful than Nazri, Shannone, and ALL of last seasons models. I still think the most beatiful model was santino's model Heather but this gal is a close 2nd.
9/3/08, 11:07 AM
Terri may only have four patterns but at least every one of them has come out looking better than Jerell's tired LA rags. Santino he is not.
9/3/08, 11:08 AM
P.S.
Is TLO going to be blogging the new revamped Top design?
(wasn't sure, I know SG is over but you are doing the Mad Menn show)
9/3/08, 11:11 AM
"Sternum Lad" --Ha!!
Not loving either outfit, but I do appreciate seeing in the little close ups how well-made they look. So many of those close-ups seem to show that the garments are sewn right onto the models (and then taken apart), whereas these look like they're really finished garments.
That said, may I also say. . . ho hum.
9/3/08, 11:14 AM
In a contest where you get a sea full of dresses and asymmetrical skirts, Terri whipping out pants are a great change of pace.
Go on Terri, with your two faces, and four patterns! lol...
9/3/08, 11:14 AM
I think Terri's pants are AWESOME. The rest is bleh.
And Joe's is God awful.
9/3/08, 11:15 AM
Straight guys don't have a monopoly on tacky and BELIEVE US, gay men have NOWHERE NEAR a monopoly on taste.
Oh, you guys crack me up! I suppose you could start a blog called, "Tacky Gay Men," just to get people riled.
Joe's outfit looks just like a bucket seat out of 1978 Camaro or Charger.
Yes, Terri does a lot of pants --but then she does manage to pull things off each week. And the only other person I can remember who could really make pants fit was our little Sirriano. Unless she blows it big time, she'll be hanging in for awhile.
9/3/08, 11:15 AM
Mystia said, "I'm suprised more people don't bring attention to Terri's model. My God she is a beautiful woman."
I was going to say something about her. I agree, she's beautiful, but I think what's even more important is how she inhabits each outfit -- she sort of becomes a character, someone who'd actually be wearing whatever she's modeling.
9/3/08, 11:18 AM
P.S. Bill, Sewing Siren, Kanani, thanks for your replies to my wiener whistle post. You all had me laughing out loud.

Well, if that's true, then she deserves a LOT more credit for this outfit than she got. Adding a design element like that deserves some recognition.
9/3/08, 11:24 AM
I have to say, Terri's effort, up close, was rather impressive. Yes, she's the Pants Pasha (what's the alliterative female equivalent of Pasha?), but those really were nifty, especially when you consider the materials used. And, be assured, pants construction is a lot more difficult than whipping out a skirt. The girl sure can sew.
Given Laura Bennett's comments about how her remarks were edited, I can see that the contestants are sculpted by The Elves to fit a perceived storyline, character box, no matter how skewed that might be from what actually occurred.
Joe: phoned in with immunity. And couldn't his outfit be an excrable uniform (but not beyond the realm of possibility) for a flight attendant on... errr... Sky Air?
All the best,
NDC
9/3/08, 11:26 AM
Yes! Jarrell's don't-trust-the-bitch smile was all mouth, no eyes, ala Buddy Cole.
We all know what that means!
9/3/08, 11:28 AM
Antares, that's it! Both looks seem to have come out of 80s videos! But I'm digging Terri's pants, and I've got to say that woman really is great at construction and is lightening fast. She's got the goods to make it all the way.
Nothing really wrong with Joe's, just not necessarily feeling it. But he's from Motor City, so I think this is his aesthetic and I'm cool with that.
9/3/08, 11:30 AM
I'm with PRfanalaPenn. Stella's top and Terri's pants would have made an incredible outfit.
I thought I caught a bit of Korto laughing at Terri's comments about how the coat was going to attack everyone on the runway.
Check out the insider look T-Bone got on Blogging Project Runway. He and the staffer at Saturn lifted the coat. It weighed over 30 pounds!
He also said that the Saturn folks were very interested in the pants.
Bucket seat with armholes! Joe forgot the waist, something Jerell and Leanne didn't. I liked his use of red, but he kept it too literal.

But it's not getting her anywhere really, except to the next level, is it? Yes, that's a good thing to stay in the competition, and I actually love her work, but when you're the only one who does pants in every round, it gets stale to the judges. And when that happens, all her hard work that makes the garmnet special gets overlooked.
9/3/08, 11:37 AM
Hey, she didn't do pants the first two rounds. Remember that dress she did for the green challenge? Beautiful.
9/3/08, 11:38 AM
Jerrell's quote on terri is the quote of the season, eclipsing terri's about vajayjay and titties. It was perfectly modulated bitchiness. Delish.

"She's got two faces and four patterns. That's it. Don't trust the bitch."
This line is now one of my top ten fav from PR! Loved Jerrell's delivery, too.
Terri has made a lot of pants, hasn't she??? Definitely needs to step up her game.
And Joe's outfit-I just thought that was sad-Topacio looks as if she's wearing mini-football shoulder pads.
9/3/08, 11:49 AM
I think Joe will be like Robert from season 1. He made it to the postal challenge because none of his stuff was awful, even if none of his stuff is really great. At some point I think the judges will just say, wait a minute... what is that guy still doing here?!?! and auf him no matter what he does for that challenge.
9/3/08, 11:51 AM
"JESUS, these straightboys don't know shit."
That cuts me to the bone, TLo.
To the bone.
Also, Terri styles better than any other designer this season. Even when her garments are a little dull, she styles the hell out of her look.
9/3/08, 11:52 AM
Terri does know how to make pants and this week's model was pretty cool but the top was seriously tacky and killed the look.
Joe's was okay. I find it interesting that Tim liked it so much.
9/3/08, 11:58 AM
Terri said she and Korto still keep in touch...does this hint that at least one of them does NOT make to BP?

Carol in LA said...

I think you've already answered your own question.
The most important thing at this level is to just survive, period. Terri has already proven that she's got the goods to make it to BP, just as long as she dosen't do anything too drastic, and the judges stay away from the bong.
9/3/08, 12:08 PM
Joe's model is sporting a no-fro.
I though I love Terri's outfit, top and bottom, I don't see anything particularly innovative about either of these looks.
9/3/08, 12:12 PM
Looks like Joe was going for avant-garde and ended up with avant-garbage.
9/3/08, 12:22 PM
Terri's design was so boring. It looked like something you'd see in the window at a mall shop, not high fashion at all. I thought the photo of the bottom half looked like Michael Jackson. Love Miss J's assessment of Terri, love Miss J!
9/3/08, 12:45 PM
I'm less enamoured of Terri's than Joe's here. Hers was just another pair of pants and a top. I feel like I've seen it a million times from her. I have no anticipation of what she's going to do with tonight's challenge.
Joe's NASCAR dress would actually bring a little sex appeal to the sport. Maybe this is something Miss NASCAR could wear on those days when she doesn't really feel like wearing a jumpsuit and baseball cap.
It seems like sportswear is Joe's natural thing but I wish he'd step it up and give it some glamour. Ironically, his most appealling moment was dressing a man in drag. I wish he'd get his inner queen back.

You know what? I have to thank you guys because it’s nice to see someone say no to obvious and gratuitous logos. If you’ve got money to spend or simply have taste and the means to acquire what you need to satisfy it, it should be evident from the cut, fit or fabric of the garment you’re wearing. It’s all well and good if you want to spend an obscene amount of money on a cheaply made t-shirt with a company logo on it but what’s the point? You don’t need to be a walking billboard to express your personal sense of style or taste. I like labels as much as the next guy/girl/transgender person but I draw the line at a logo emblazoned on my chest/back/arse.
9/3/08, 12:53 PM

I have to agree with you about Joe and I just have this feeling about him that one of these challenges he's just gonna bust it out. We'll see.
Be the queen Joe.
Be the queen.
9/3/08, 12:54 PM
I'd love to see Terri step out of the comfort zone of pants as the only existing option for womenswear. I admit, these pants were kind of cute and having seen details, they were actually pretty cool, but enough is enough. Let's see a pencil skirt, a mini, or even a pair of culottes, for gosh sakes. We know the girl can sew!
Thank goodness. I thought it was just me. I ha-a-a-a-ated Joe's look. The top of the garment looked like a Ninja Turle's costume. In fact, the whole thing screamed Ninja Turtle meets NAASCAR.
One thought that I dd have was that Joe needs to partner with Suede. Maybe the combination of the two will cause the spontaneous creation of a garment that's flirty, sexy, funky and slick, or better yet, one that will win a challenge.

Off-topic: but the auction is still going on for the outfits and the most hilarious thing is that shipping fee is only $10 for Korto's coat. LOLOLOLOLOL It weighs 30 LBS!!!!!!!!!
9/3/08, 1:01 PM
Color me contrarian: I like them both. Pants are awesome and I don't even mind Joe's motorcross look. I do wish he didn't have the ab window, but I didn't see a seatback until you said so.
9/3/08, 1:02 PM
Joe's outfit was craptastic. Oh for %$^&s sake he designs leather outerwear for Schott. What the $%^&* is Joe doing on Project Runway anyway?
9/3/08, 1:03 PM
i've been loving jerrell most of the season -- yes, his designs can be a little up & down, but he's so adorable & wacky with the crazy stuff he wears. his line about terri is definitely the best this season. would like to see more of him on the screen.
as for terri's pants -- love them, but i agree that it's time for her to do something different. the top was a remake of the mop head top...
i've also tended to like joe & some of the work he's done this season (not earth-shattering, but good, solid stuff), but i have to say this one was really boring & not fitted well to boot....didn't like it at all.
can't wait to see the fabulous DVF tonight!!!!
9/3/08, 1:40 PM
I don't get the exposed zipper fly on the pants. I think Terri's done them a couple of times, and of course last season Christian did them all over the runway for his BP collection. I thought it was tacky as all get-out in season 3 when Jeffrey did it for his jet-setter-rock-star look, but hey, that was Jeffrey - it fit his obnoxious persona. But first Jeffrey, than Christian, now Terri - is this actually a fashionable trend? No, no, say it ain't so! Ugh! Double, triple, quadruple ugh! I warn you people - five years from now it's going to be "I can't believe we wore something so ugly" time.
9/3/08, 1:47 PM
Terri's pants are great. I could care less about the top, though. She does that alot, starting with the first challenge 1/2 a good outfit, the other 1/2 being a bit throw away. Dogbreath, I hear ya about the zipper. That kind of sets my teeth on edge too.
Joe's just bores the hell out of me. Every one of his outfits have been middle of the road. The exception would maybe be the Pasta Dress.

If you go to her myspace page, Korto is one of her top 15 friends (and so is Joe).
It definitely looked like a joke between her and Korto, though Jerrel epitomized the great catty remark.
I liked her pants, especially when you see the details up front. She did with those panels what Keith failed to do.
Maybe she went back to pants because she went all out with the last challenge and didn't win.
9/3/08, 2:11 PM
Isn't the lounge usually open by now?
I hope there are still prizes left :) I didn't get any guesses in last week I was away all day.
Alot of talk about fashion week being 10 days away and how will it work out.
I wonder if we will be suprised with a double elimination and how that would fare for our guesses, lol.
9/3/08, 2:14 PM
Sorry, boys, but I'm with Terri on this one. Editing's a bitch. Even Laura mentions how editors cut her "excuse me?" so it would seem more feisty.
I want Joe to do well, but this roller coaster of style he's on is wearing me out. It's good! It's bad! Consistency, Joe!
Leanne is gonna win it all. Watch what happens....
9/3/08, 2:35 PM
I'm laughing at Sus's "map pocket" comment! Joe's in trouble, I think, because he can do good work but he can flop hard too, and it only takes one disaster to go home.
I disagree completely on Terri's: I think it's fantastic, very tough and sharp and hot, hot, hot. Stella's never made pants one-thousandth as tough or interesting as these in her life.
And all that trash talk? That's just for fun. Terri laughing on the floor was hilarious, as was Jerrel's comment. This is like "the dozens" or something. Nobody's mean, nobody's mad -- not like that crazy bitch Kenley.
9/3/08, 2:42 PM
Loved Terri's pants, but the mesh top ruined it. You can't put anchovies on my sundae and then expect me to still be excited about the ice cream.

I liked the pants but the top was kinda tacky. Joe's did not impress me.
9/3/08, 3:05 PM

Yeah, I listened to Jerell's comments, as well as Korto and Terri's and realized they were just playing. They might as well have been at an early Sunday dinner, picking on each other and having fun.
9/3/08, 3:14 PM
The pants were ok but the top was hideous. Let's see what she does tonight. Another pair of pants?
9/3/08, 3:14 PM
LOVE TERRI! She needs to win SOMETHING!
9/3/08, 3:17 PM
Re Joe - I'd like to see him teamed up with one of the women - Leeann or Kenley. I think the combo of their "views" and his would be interesting.
I think Teri is good, but repetative and I wonder if she isn't going over the edge, although the promos for tonight make it look like Kenley is melting down.
9/3/08, 3:26 PM
I think Terri is overrated. She does have four patterns and that's it.
9/3/08, 3:27 PM
Joe's model looks like she's stuck in her seat. The clothes is wearing her and not the other way around.
9/3/08, 3:29 PM
I thought Terri's was a strong look but couldn't help but being a little disappointed that she sent another pair of pants down the runway. I hated the top but I hate mesh.

And notice that Jerell is NOT. At least, I didn't see him when I looked. He may have been kidding, but he had to know how a statement like that would be edited.

Topacio's hair looked awful. I'm not very impressed with the hair and makeup styling this season.

LOL. Really? I have to check that. LOL. I think Jerell's very funny but you can tell that the girl can be catty and bitchy.
9/3/08, 3:33 PM
I thought Terri's kicked ass...again.
Could somebody explain to me why Joe and Blayne are still in the competition?
9/3/08, 3:36 PM
I think the thing I don't get about the contestants this season is no one seems to have a handle on prints...
They need some Uli!
ps- I never really liked the "for nuts only" thing either. I never got how it was "elegant," joke or not. I liked the dress, just not that part. Sure, it was a joke, but when has a sex joke ever really been elegant???
9/3/08, 3:48 PM
antares, perhaps I'm showing my naivete, but I thought "for nuts only" was not a sex joke but a reference to how nuts you have to be to be on PR ...
9/3/08, 3:51 PM
Have to say, I LOVED Terri's look a lot, actually. Top and bottom. I'd so wear that top. We have seen her do sophistication to, the green challenge dress was adorable, another one of her outfits I'd wear in a heartbeat.
I totally get the criticism though, as looking back, many of her outfits looked exactly the same. Although, the same could be said for Ulli of S3, and look how far that got her. I do hope she doesn't get too stuck in a rut though.
9/3/08, 3:58 PM
Anotherlaura, you may be right. Beyond thinking it was an elegant joke, to my knowledge, Laura has never really explained what kind of joke she was making. I know several PR sites have joked that it was some kind of reference to sex, especially anal sex. I think the fact that the writing was on the skirt, right by the butt lends itself to an interpretation that it was a sexual reference.
Of course some of her competitors joked that the dress looked like a straightjacket, so it could have been a joke about the firm, "crispy" (how Laura described it) quality of the material used in the dress.
Maybe I should "lighten up, its just fashion!!"
When's the bar gonna open? I need a cocktail with mojo.
9/3/08, 3:59 PM
I thought Laura took "For Nuts Only" and pared it down to only "Nuts" for her design by folding over the flaps of the material.
9/3/08, 4:01 PM
Terri's dress for the green challenge didn't get enough love. It was stunning and in many ways, mirrored the same silhouette as Kenley's. But once again, darker fabrics don't get enough light on the runway to show how beautiful the garment is.
9/3/08, 4:02 PM
Yeah, it does seem since S3,many competitors have gone far making very similar garments. Both Uli and Laura in S3 had a signature look that got them both to BP, and last season Christian rode puffy sleeves and skinny pants to the win and VYA went pretty far with smooshed boobies and shapeless dresses. This year, Teri has a penchant for pants and Suede his skating dresses and Korto her volume...
9/3/08, 4:03 PM
Carol, the bag was For Peanuts Only and she cut it down to For Nuts Only

True, but she makes pants over and over again and that's a very specific look. I'm surprised the judge hadn't said anything yet.

Is TLO going to be blogging the new revamped Top design?
(wasn't sure, I know SG is over but you are doing the Mad Menn show)"
I think so. They blogged season one.

Great pants, didn't like the top. It was the netting that was wrong, I hate netting. But all in all, it was a nice design.

I liked Terri's outfit, but that biker look isn't going to win over the judges even with Nina not being there. Terri is obviously a great seamstress, but it's not clear that she really has an aesthetic. She says she's street, but I never see it, not even here. This is biker and even I know that's different. At the beginning, I was sure Terri would go all the way to Bryant Park, but I'm not as convinced now.
Joe's outfit was not very original and not well proportioned or fitted. I really thought he might be bottom 3, but it must have looked better in person. Tim praised it on his blog so there must have been something there. I don't think Joe makes it to BP. And it will be tres ironic if the straight guy gets aufed, having the drag queen challenge as his only win.
9/3/08, 6:28 PM
Terri's use of the logo (very discreet, on the pants) was very cool.
Joe's was not great. And hello?? FIT???
9/3/08, 6:51 PM
Terri: Pants were kinda cool, but the top was meh.
I sure as shit hope the editing is what made that Terri rolling on the floor scene only look like it was at Korto's expense. Let's hope.
Joe: Sporty and barely perceptible use of seatbelts. Kudos on that. I thought it looked really automotive inspired and if that's a no-no, well, then...there you go.
9/3/08, 6:59 PM
Oh god, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks logos on shirts are tacky tacky tacky.
Jerrell's comment was brilliant, and he's definitely pulled ahead of Terri as one of the designers I want to see make it all the way.
9/3/08, 7:04 PM
YOU think Terri rolling around on the ground wasn't endearing, but *I* think it was hilarious. Especially since Korto was being a really good sport about it and was, in fact, making a truly beautiful garment.
When you look at Korto's outfit in the early stages and then look at this:

Come on boys. How are you not laughing? I'm cracking up still a week later.
9/3/08, 7:26 PM
I don't think pants are a "specific look" any more than skirts/dresses are, and I haven't heard anyone criticized for making too many skirts. After first season, it was cool seeing pants (on, say, the postal service challenge) because we saw a lot of quick dresses. But in general, "pants" and "skirts" and "dresses" are broad enough terms to not indicate a particularly narrow range.

How gay are you?
9/3/08, 8:48 PM
I really liked Terri's look.
No, no, the straighty jokes never get old. Motocross? Wtf was he thinking?
9/3/08, 10:28 PM
this was probably my least favorite garment from terri. it's funny, though; everyone on the show bitches that she makes the same thing every week (and you mention it here) but somehow I don't feel like i'm seeing the same old thing from her every week. yes - she does pants/jacket/vest often, but she changes the look of that ensemble, and i have to say: it's working for me. i LIKE Terri. i like her aesthetic, and i like her sharp, slightly insane, persona. she intrigues me. she was stoked for the drag queen challenge, she did fabulous work for the Olympics challenge, her NYC inspired dress was to die for - and there's something sort of cheshire-cat hectic about her that i find both mildly frightening, and totally compelling.
joe?
these are dude clothes. i don't know how much straightness has to do with it (*cough*) but this is dudewear, all the way.
ook.
