Heidi in a very modified version of Armani Privé Fall 2008 collection:

She looks fantastic...

...but those earrings are ridiculous.

Heidi in Valentino Fall 2008 Couture. Normally we'd rag on Jeff Probst for wearing a tux without a tie but the less clothing on him, the better.

Beautiful gown but we're not crazy about dresses that match the wearer's hair color.

Michael Kors Spring 2009 Collection
This would be one of the few pieces from the Duchess' collection that we liked and the color really looks great on her.

Christian Siriano Spring 2009 Collection
We also liked this dress from Princess' collection but we're not sure it's Heidi's style. It's a little too grandiose and "couture" for an awards show.

Modified version of Armani Privé Fall 2008 collection
Of course she looks spectacular but we like the unmodified version better.

I agree. I really prefer both Armani's in their original versions.
9/22/08 12:02 PM
Yeah...it's also too Nina Ricci Spring 2007 RTW.
9/22/08 12:05 PM
Brooke Shields looks amazing.
Mad Men won!!!! YAYAY!!!!! And just how fug was January Jones? She needs some new gays, stat.
9/22/08 12:05 PM
How could you omit Mary Tyler Moore's choice of sleeveless? So good from afar, so what was she thinking in closeups?
Did any women with large busts look good? Most looked squeezed or victims of gravity, or both.
9/22/08 12:07 PM
too many cats said...
How could you omit Mary Tyler Moore's choice of sleeveless?
Does that have anything to do with Project Runway?
9/22/08 12:08 PM
Did anyone else catch Heidi's gaffe when introducing David Boreanaz? She announced him as being from "The Bones" rather than "Bones." I woulda auf'ed her for that.
9/22/08 12:09 PM
What is it with all these cheapo earrings all the time, Heidi?! They are are disgusting.
I'm also not too fond of her new forearm tattoo... but Tim looks adorably handsome as ever. Awwww, I heart Tim!
9/22/08 12:12 PM
Susan Sarandon really needs to speak with Sir Tim about foundation garments. Those puppies are going to be banging on her knees if she doesn't prop them them up soon.
9/22/08 12:13 PM
Susan Sarandon - you can see the "cleavage" top of her breast above the top of the dress and her boobs look like they end hanging awfully low.
Strapless dress are hard enough to where if you have breasts - but DO NOT wear them if the dress makes you look like you measure your chest in Length!
9/22/08 12:14 PM
I can understand the modifications on the 1st armani dress but she should have worn the 2nd armani as is. Unless someone else snatched it up
I loved how heidi did the Christian pose with her face during the presentation of her catergory. And she looked faboo in Kors
The hosts rather sucked at their job overall. I have at least some comfort you can't really blame Heidi for that. She's not a professional comic like Howie and Tom Bergeron. No one expected her to be funny. Just glamourous looking-which she did
I will give her props for her pratfall in that Kors gown with Tom Bergeron. They should have had her do more stuff like that. We all know the woman has no qualms about looking goofy
Spot on about Oprah.
Daniel should have done some more work to fit that dress on Andrea better. But I liked how she conducted herself on the runway when her hubby was being interviewed
on a final note. I am so sick of Amazing Race winning this category. 5 years in a row! Give that award to someone else, it doesn't even have to be PR at this point
oh and hurray for Madmen. Didn't relaize those curves of Christina Hendricks were for real. Damn girl you are Marilyn (or rather she's you)

Oprah - ALL the money in the world and she can't afford a MIRROR??
MTM - those arms scared the hell out of me.
9/22/08 12:17 PM
Nothing to say about that hokey gag with the rip off tux? It was embarrassing wasn't it?
Other than that she looks good in everything. My favorite, though, was the leopard print chiffon.
9/22/08 12:19 PM
oops - correction...
"Strapless dresses are hard enough to wear"
9/22/08 12:20 PM
I am so sick of Amazing Race winning this category. 5 years in a row!
Actually, it's the sixth. The Amazing Race has become the Candice Bergen of the Emmy Awards.
9/22/08 12:20 PM
I have always loved Susan Sarandon. And will continue to. So when I say that dress was a mistake, it is with love. It makes her boobs look HUGE and SAGGY. Why on earth would she go out like that? She is beautiful!
9/22/08 12:20 PM
Man, get off Oprah. Seriously. I think she looks fab. Much better than when she was out and about in brown leather full-length skirts as formal wear.
Heidi looks fab in just about everything, but that Christian dress? So design school. And is that a *real* tat on her forearm??
9/22/08 12:21 PM
Didn't like Heidi in the Valentino dress. Granted, the dress is gorgeous, but it made her look like a folded dinner napkin.
LOVED the butterfly earrings and oval ring. Were they jade, pearl, or opal?
Sorry, I'm more of a jewelry hog than a clothes girl.
9/22/08 12:21 PM
TLo, Heidi must have taken your advice to hire a new set of gays, because I did't really see many mis-steps on the Emmys last night. I did like Christian's dress on her. It may be a bit too 'couture', but in a sea of prom dresses, I thought it was good for her to stand out in that for the Emmy category she was nominated in.
But no comment on the 'short, tight and shiny' in the opening sketch when the boys ripped off her tux? :)
And by the way, did anyone see the Macy's ad that ran through the show? Has "The Amazing Race" ever been prominently featured in an ad campaign? No. Why? 'Cause coming across bewildered and rude tourists around the world is so common....
9/22/08 12:26 PM
Jeff Probst? Really?
But Ricky's right there! Granted, he looks like his mommy didn't check his tie before he left and Mrs. Ricky looks like she's wearing something from the Maria von Trapp collection, but...
Oh, Ricky. The things you could do to me.
le sigh
9/22/08 12:26 PM
Tens across the board:
10 - 10 - 10 - 10 - 10 - 10!
As for Probst ... he needs a tie to go with that emmy.
9/22/08 12:26 PM
Heidi's first dress (the look w/ the butterfly earrings) is made out of some seriously cheap '80s Vegas prom material. Black + rainbow sparklies = NO.
Oprah looks fat.
I think it's weird Mrs. Rick Schroeder is wearing the dress she designed the window for. It IS a pretty dress.
Padma and Susan Sarandon look boring.
Cynthia Nixon is divine. Why did she never look this good when she was on her fashion-centric show? Oh that's right: PATRICIA FIELDS.
Hate the blue Mary Louise Parker is wearing.
Everything Christian wears is exactly the same. Meh.
9/22/08 12:28 PM
Debra Messing looks flawless! Beautiful.
Heidi looks like someone forgot to dip her right half in the sprinkles. I like the original version much better, and she would look prettier in the light-spirited, black and white version.
9/22/08 12:28 PM
Just saw the rest of the dresses. Can I just say that Debra Messing's hair and makeup look fabulous. And much as I love Susan Sarandon, that dress is awful. It makes her look like her boobs are down around her hipbones. Susan, get a decent bra!
9/22/08 12:29 PM
You know, Susan Sarandon used to have one of the finest natural racks in showbiz (as evidenced by her and Deneuve's dueling tits in "The Hunger"), but the outfit she wore last night made it look as if she could play hacky sack with 'em.
Like too many cats said, what is up with the ladies who are well endowed? As zaftig goddess Bette Midler once stated in her act, she didn't even walk to her fridge without major support.
9/22/08 12:32 PM
I think I agree with everything you said. Oh, except, maybe that I like Susan Sarandon in her dress. And while I didn't like Oprah in her DK, I think she looks good in red. I love Cynthia Nixon in that dress! So much better than when she wears things that are overly busy/fancy. Heidi looks great in the blue MK dress, and while I'm not necessarily a fan of Christian's designs, I have to admit that one is really special.
9/22/08 12:33 PM
Nothing beats Armani for these red carpets (except maybe Oscar de la Renta).
And for Heidi's foirst gown, I prefer the version she's wearing to the runway version.
And still not loving Christian's color story in that gown.

9/22/08 12:35 PM
Since so many people commented that Susan Sarandon looks saggy I had to go back and look. Eh. Big deal. I still think she looks good.
Somebody, please tell me who is Jeff Probst? Thanks.
9/22/08 12:36 PM
loved when the camera's panned to Christian as Heidi announced that he'd designed some of the dresses modeled that evening.
9/22/08 12:39 PM
I have a request for a fashion lesson. The comment about 'too couture' for an awards show. Where would you wear an overtly couture dress like that? Of is it only for runways to express a direction but never to be worn in real life - as real as life is for a celebrity that is.
9/22/08 12:39 PM
Jeff Probst is the deliciously hunky host of Survivor, a show that I have thankfully never seen.
9/22/08 12:40 PM
Oprah's fat again! I LOVE it!

I think TLo meant more "too couture for the Emmy's" rather than ANY award shows. You could certainly wear a grand couture gown to there, but you might not wear it to the Cable ACE awards, you know? You can also wear couture to galas and black-tie events. Most of these Emmy dresses ARE couture, but I think TLo was commenting more on big, dramatic gowns than the actual coutureness of it all.
9/22/08 12:42 PM
Am I the only one who wants to slap that arrogant smirk off PPS' face, and tell him to hold his damn head still?
He looks like a living bobblehead!
I love that silvery dress of Heidi's, but that big ruffle on the cream-colored one is too much. Hated her "short, tight and shiny" outfit that she wore at the beginning, as well as the leopard print. "Ooh, that's bad!" She looks good in Michael Kors, but PPS' does her no favors. (I don't think it would anyone; it looks like rags sewn together.)
I hadn't realized, from the shots of it on Top Design, how cut out Daniel Franco's gown is. I had liked it tremendously, but now I don't. The open sides are not attractive.
Cynthia Nixon's gown was stunning. Great color for her, and I really like the origami-style folds at the bustline.
Tim is hot, as usual.
9/22/08 12:43 PM
*wear a grand couture gown to THE OSCARS, but might not wear it to the Cable ACE awards.
Sorry.
9/22/08 12:50 PM
Loved Heidi in Christian's dress. Love Jeff Probst. He definitely deserved the win out of those five.
9/22/08 12:50 PM
Okay! That makes sense. :-)
9/22/08 12:52 PM
I'm also sick of the Amazing Race winning year after year, but then again, that particular show is filmed all over the world. And the videography is spectacular. The editing is top notch and ties multiple story lines together with the challenge itself quite nicely.
If Runway could improve on the videography of the challenges and fix the lighting on the runway, I think it could contend for the win.
9/22/08 12:52 PM
It would be hard to wear a couture gown to the ACE awards since they shut them down ever since the Emnmys started giving them love..lol
how about the People's Choice :p

LOL yes. Or the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards, etc. I always just thought the Cable ACE awards were the biggest joke in the history of award shows...most people don't even remember them, but they still burn brightly in my mind. They were a beacon of hope for millions of sub-par TV actors who believed they could at least snag an award from the lowest echelon of entertainment industry self-recognition. Plus the actual awards looked like they were from the Oriental Trading Post. Sigh, *memories*
9/22/08 1:01 PM
Brooke Shields and Debra Messing look amazing. I love those gowns. Heidi looks great, especially in that Michael Kors dress. Fabulous post, Tlo! Thanks!
9/22/08 1:03 PM
Mostly lovely clothes on mostly lovely people, thanks TLo.
Heidi looked great. Again. And again. And again!
Now THAT is what Cynthia Nixon can/should look like (especially when she's paying someone to dress her), vs. the oddly discombobulated look her SATC DVD release event photos showed.
Cut Oprah some slack, it could have been better, but she's not built to be/known for being a clotheshorse and it could have been sooo much worse. (Especially if she feels entitled to be reasonably comfortable in her clothes.) Who knows how many she tried on before that one.
Spoken as someone who once was skinny and is no longer. And is not tall. Simply not looking like a troll doll in a potato sack is a lot of work, some days . . .
9/22/08 1:07 PM
She looked great in MK's dress. And I am happy she wore PPS's dress, though perhaps a little less length would have worked better.
Did she design the earrings? I think I remember that she started a jewelry line or something like that? Even still, a bit OTT for my tastes.
9/22/08 1:10 PM

Loooooove Heidi in MK. Looooove Heidi in the Armani. Looooove Heidi in Christian's gown. Did NOT love the jewels. Blech. I don't get Heidi's taste in jewelry - ever.

There is no doubt that Heidi can practically wear anything and look fantastic in it, but with PPS' dress, it was, in Mama Gunn's words, "a lot of look".
As for the O, she can buy us and sell us a million times over, so she can pretty do whatever the hell she wants.
Besides, she is one of a few celebs who actually pays for her dresses and jewelry. She donates her stuff to charity afterwards. So she's okay by me!
9/22/08 1:20 PM
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Heidi in Michael Kors. Stunning!...and I hated his collection.
9/22/08 1:22 PM
WOW! What a FABULOUS post, guys!!
Heidi looks amazing, yeah, a bit too much here and there, but in general, very well put together. I. WANT. DEBRA. MESSING'S. DRESS. That's all I'm saying : )
9/22/08 1:29 PM
I've never seen Heidi looking this good. She looks gorgeous in everyone of those gowns. Boys, I have to hand it to you, this is a great post.

9/22/08 1:37 PM
Heidi looked stunning in almost every dress. Not crazy about the jewels and that tat (if it's for real) is a serious mistake.
Debra Messing looked amazing - flawless in every respect.
Not crazy about Brooke's look - the color or the style - it was okay but didn't wow me.
Susan Sarandon - boring. Needs a good bra. And you're right about the shoes - hideous. I wonder if she's got some foot problems. I saw some clips of her (maybe on Go Fug Yourself) a couple of months ago where she was wearing some really ugly orthopedic-looking flats. Surely she can find comfortable, supportive shoes that look better than this.
Oprah - no. Just...no.
Mrs. Rick Schroeder - loved the dress on Top Design. On her, not so much.
Cynthia Nixon - I'll have to disagree. I didn't like this look at all. One of the boobs looked wrinkled or somehow off. It was a little too bare and plain and made her look almost anorexic. Not at all flattering. The color was nice for her, though.
Mary Louise Parker - meh. But I've come to hate her character on Weeds so much that perhaps I'm just projecting my dislike on to her dress.

Brooke was a guest judge this season. Hello? Teri Hatcher's dress would have been a better example.
9/22/08 1:43 PM
Dear GOD, Teri Hatcher is becoming the poster child for "when to say 'NO MORE' to plastic surgery. EEK.
Anybody else think Heidi's second Armani Prive' dress looked like something straight out of the 90's?
My faves were Heidi's first dress (FABULOUS!), Brooke Shields, and Teri Hatcher.
9/22/08 1:45 PM
Brooke Shields was a judge and she's wearing Badgley Mischka, who were also judges.
Terri Hatcher is wearing Monique Luillier who was also a judge.
9/22/08 1:48 PM
Heidi looked so glamorous in her gowns! It's nice to see her in something other than tight, short and shiny.
Cynthia Nixon looked amazing. I agree that the color is stunning and I love the fact that she never looks overly made-up.
Teri Hatcher's face frightens me. Is that left eyebrow permanently raised. Sometimes you just have to say No to Botulism. I'm just sayin'.
9/22/08 1:49 PM
Heidi, of course, looks gorgeous in anything! Brooke Shields = perfection. Oprah...I love her, but she always looks so crammed-into everything she wears. Why does she buy things at least a size too small?? She even says her feet are all kinds of f'ed up from wearing shoes too small. That is never a cute look!

Most of these dresses were great. I preferred Heidi's first armani over the runway, but the second armani was better on the runway.
How could you not like terri hatcher in the dress, whe looked fantastic. The color was nice on her, which is surprising because I usually associate yellow dresses for people with darker skin tones.
Loved cynthia's dress. That's CK at his best. Doesn't go for flash, but impeccable to a T.
The blue michael kors gown was probably the best look of his collection and heidi looked radiant in it.
I think Heidi looked pretty in christian's dress... but seems a tad messy on the bottom. Still, congratulations to PPS, she looked great in it, and was definitely the biggest showstopper of his spring collection.
9/22/08 2:16 PM
Emmy fashions have been off for a few years now, IMO, since the date of the Emmys got pushed back to September (I think one year it may have even been in August). The attendees are still dressing like it's November or April. Half of the people look like they are being broiled.
I think Kyra Sedgewick, Padma Lakshmi looked weather appropriate. Mariska Hargitay also fit the bill because yellow is the "in" color. Too many women looked "Easter-y" or "winter-y"
The poor guys, if the Emmys continue to be scheduled in September, perhaps a new look will emerge for them. I propose that the Emmys be held in mid and late August (before Labor Day) and the style be summer cocktail party-ish.

Susan Sarandon will be 62 next week. I think she looked great except for the SAS evening shoes. As far as her boobs, they are no less perky than say Lindsay Lohan, who should be regretting her endless lack of support for those boobs pretty soon.
Mary Tyler Moore will be 72 by the end of the year and yes her arms looked like she suffers from a severe eating disorder, but aren't women allowed to age without being criticized for their diminshed exterior beauty.

Also how tall is Heidi. She really was towering over all her fellow co-hosts

Tom in KC I must agree with you about Audra McDonald. I gasped when I saw that dress and that picture doen't even do her justice. Gorge !!!
As for Heidi, I thought she looked just breath taking in everything except Christian's. It was too busy. To quote the king in Amadeus it had "too many notes."
Ok, and just gotta say.......LOVED the butterfly earrings. I did !
9/22/08 3:29 PM
I loved Heidi in that silver.
Oprah was fug in that gown, followed closely by Susan Sarandon (who usually does much better).
Cynthia Nixon's dress? Gorgeous!
9/22/08 3:32 PM
They always say that plastic surgery can't disguise hands so if you want to see how old someone is, look away from their face and at their hands. MTM is just showing some incongruity between the true age of her arms and the synthetic age of her face.
9/22/08 3:33 PM
I thought Heidi looked like a spokesmodel in that Michael Kors gown. I'd like to buy a vowel please....
The rest were fabulous, but is it me or do the PR designer's gowns look less well made than the others (PPS and DanielFranco)
9/22/08 3:34 PM
I love the PPS dress but not on Heidi. I thought she looked stunning in the MK dress. I find Armani a little dated. Brooke Shields, Debra Messing, Cythia Nixon, all gorge! Thank you for the post, kittens! Loveyameanit.

I love Brooke Shields dress and the whole look, but that color doesn't photograph well against that red carpet.
Mrs. Rickey Schroder looked great, but not even considering the fit, I would love that dress a BUNCH more without the riblet cutouts. With the skinny-mini look that IS Hollywood I just don't think showing your riblets are attractive.
Oprah......omg, SO no!! Its a gorgeous gown, but not with her curves. I just want to pull that cord detailing hanging from the midsection and draw those red blinds up or down.
Padma could rock a papersack and look chic and stunning. I think the look allowed her beauty to shine though. You look at her and say "Simply stunning!" not "Simply stunning dress" and thats a good thing!!
I love Susan Saradon but those shoes are tragic-geratric!!
Mu favortie Heidi dress was Christian's but my favorite Heidi "look" was the Kors dress. Color, cut and fit were just right.
But.....thats just my opinion! lol

Tom in KC, Audra does look gorgeous. What show is she on? (I know she does TV as well as theatre, but I don't get to see a lot of prime time stuff, and I don't know what she's on these days.)
Oh, and that Daniel Franco dress: the little teeny breast covers are a drag. It strikes me as very Project Runway, in fact, to ruin an otherwise good design with inadequate little scraps of fabric masquerading as the top.

Heidi owned that blue dress -- big snaps up! The rest were good. Compared to her co-hosts, she was going to look fab no matter what.
And I love Mary Tyler Moore as much as the next TV comedy (and Ordinary People) fan, but Mme. Moore needs to retire the sleeveless look.
9/22/08 4:48 PM
Thought Cynthia Nixon's dress was fine, although it seems to have incurred the wrath of the "worst dressed" list for some inexplicable reason. Glad to see someone else, especially you, TLo, actually like it!
9/22/08 4:53 PM
I want to run and hide at the Oprah puke-orange dress. AHHH MY RETINAS!!!!
Cynthia looked AWESOME. That dress is beautiful. Probably my favorite.
9/22/08 4:54 PM
I agree that Christian's dress didn't seem to perfectly fit Heidi's style but I don't think it was too couture for an awards show.
I really didn't like her red carpet look.
9/22/08 4:57 PM
Cynthia Nixon definitely in the prettiest color of the evening!
9/22/08 4:58 PM
I dig that dress from The Duchess. It was my favorite one from his collection.

Oh, and that Daniel Franco dress: the little teeny breast covers are a drag. It strikes me as very Project Runway, in fact, to ruin an otherwise good design with inadequate little scraps of fabric masquerading as the top.
I agree. I think she's a little too naked.
9/22/08 5:06 PM
wow -- Teri Hatcher looks soo plastic! Wow!
Remember that episode of Seinfeld where that mannequin looked like Elaine? That's what Teri Hatcher looks like - a mannequin of herself.
9/22/08 5:16 PM
Can anyone link to a picture of Mary Tyler Moore at the Emmys? Tx.
9/22/08 5:21 PM
In addition to Susan Sarandon, I thought Padma could have used a good foundation garment too.
9/22/08 5:24 PM
I didn't like the first Armani Prive dress on Heidi it looked like Grecian Disco literally! Everyone else look amazing although...Mary-Louise Parker in Roberto Cavalli was a little dated and that stripping around Oprah's mid drift ewww no honey she looked bigger than she really is!
9/22/08 5:24 PM
BLECH! The DK dresses were dreadful in the bust. Saggy Mommy Baggies!
Hate the hot pink on Brooke.
Terri Hatcher's dress could have been pretty, but it looked like a PR challenge using chip Priscilla curtains from K-Mart.
OOOk- the see-through bust on D Mess- not attractive.
9/22/08 5:27 PM
Have to disagree about Mary-Louise. She looked fabulous.
9/22/08 5:27 PM
The Valentino dress looks much better on Heidi. She killed it in that MK.
9/22/08 5:31 PM
"How could you omit Mary Tyler Moore's choice of sleeveless?"
"Does that have anything to do with Project Runway?"
to the nasty comment left by anonymous at 12:07 -
What does Susan Sarandon or MaryLouise Parker have to do with PR either? We are just talking about fashion on the red carpet.
9/22/08 5:39 PM
Saradon and Parker are wearing gowns designed by people who were guests on PR
Every person feature on this article was either guest or is wearing a gown of a guest designer. Ergo why MTM was not commented on but Oprah and Terri Hatcher was.
This jibes with all the articles that are not directly related to PR. Tlo have done fashion spots on designers and celebs who have been on the show.

Donna Karan's dresses consistently do HORRIBLE things to busty women. It's not a surprise, since in 90% of her pictures, Ms. Karan's titsen are hanging perilously close to her navel. Ever mind ye the pencil rule of bewbage!

Nonsense. She's a professional hosting a major awards show. She should know her lines - in this case, correct pronunciation of names and show titles of the people she's announcing - backwards and forwards. Anything less is just plain sloppy.

This is why I don't have a blog.
Folks, it can't be THAT complicated. Here we go:
Mary-Louise Parker is wearing a gown designed by ROBERTO CAVALLI who was a judge on the show. He loved Chris March, remember?
Susan Sarandon is wearing a gown designed by DONNA KARAN who was also a judge on the show. She judged that revamp an 80's look challenge.

Who are you snarking against, I wonder? Because I've read every comment and I haven't seen any remotely related to the above, obvious overblown sarcasm aside.
9/22/08 6:09 PM
I really must be getting old. I think PPS looks idiotic in that shirt.
9/22/08 6:16 PM
Arguing that "so-and-so is wearing a dress designed by someone who was on PR once 3 seasons ago" may be technically true but it's a bit of a stretch, really. The whole argument is dumb anyway...TLo can post what they want. If they posted a picture her of a non-judge wearing a non-designer, would there seriously be people out there that would have a problem with that? Y'all need to CHILL and just look at the pretty pictures...
9/22/08 6:32 PM
what about christina hendricks?! she looked fantastic!
9/22/08 6:38 PM
The title of the post is "Project Runway at the Emmys," not "A Bunch of Dresses at the Emmys."
9/22/08 7:09 PM
Thank you once again, Tlo, for a mahhhvelous post!!
I thought Heidi looked absolutely fabulous in the MK blue gown.
WTH was with Oprah?? I don't care what size a gal is, (example: Queen Latifah, she always looks beautiful), but the tomato dress Ms Winfrey wore was downright nauseating. Her stylist should be relegated to sweeping up the Parsons workroom.
9/22/08 7:43 PM
Kudos to Heidi for supporting PR designers.
9/22/08 7:51 PM
All in all, the Emmy's sucked last night. The idea of having the 5 nominees serve as hosts was the equivalent of a brain fart. I was forced to surf all evening in order not to fall asleep.
Donna Karan has lost her appeal. What worked in the 80's on these women does not necessarily look good on them 20+ years later. Gravity happens and these women need to figure that out. Oprah looked like shit. That fabric was all wrong for her. Girl needs something that can hold her in a little. And I absolutely LOVE Susan Sarandon, but her tits looked like Doris Duke's in that dress. And poor Doris has been dead for umpteen years.
9/22/08 8:13 PM
Heidi looked absolutely fabulous.
I hate to disagree with TLo (and rarely do!) but I thought the butterfly earrings looked fantastic.
My least favorite on her was (gasp) Christian's - the colors were dull.
Thanks for sharing boys!
9/22/08 8:29 PM
I don't know where else to ask this - but the Page Six item mentioned on the top left of the homepage about the celeb with Botox problems - are they talking about Nina?
9/22/08 8:41 PM
I'm wondering about the Page Six item as well....it says she was absent from 2 episodes or 2 different reality shows??
9/22/08 8:41 PM
Thanks Guys for the information on those monstrous earrings!
9/22/08 8:51 PM
For my sin, I offer apologies.
My reason was that when I loaded the page, many of the second views and their captions did not load, so I could not guess, (in a freakin' thousand years), that Oprah bought that dress from Donna Karen.
And I thought that MTM's fashion problem was at least as sad as O's little red dress.
Some of the others were not ID'd by designer until the photos all loaded for me later today.
Mea culpa.

Frau Seal:
Gray Armani Prive - the more I see it, the more I like it. It is figure flattering, perhaps I'd like it more in a more vibrant color.
Valentino - It nice, but not a WOW.
Michael Kors - The right girl... in the right place... in the right dress.
Christian Siriano - I think the cocktail dress version of the dress would have been better. Kudos to Heidi for supporting PR designers.
Black Armani Prive - Not flattering. Dare I say that the boobs aren't where they're supposed to be.
9/22/08 9:09 PM
You saved the best for last - Sir Tim and PPS - both looking spiffy. On the other hand my Secret Mad Men Boyfriend Jon Hamm looked unkempt...not that that's a BAD thing.
Macasism said "And just how fug was January Jones? She needs some new gays, stat." A real-time makeover for the whole cast is in order! You guys deserve some credit for their popularity among your blogaddicts; I wouldn't have watched it (or bought the DVD) if it hadn't been for you. Cheers for their win for best drama!
9/22/08 9:17 PM
Susan Sarandon's shoes...and BOOBS - let's get a bra going, shall we? Between that and the Jesus sandals! Yeesh. But she's still completely awesome...
9/22/08 9:42 PM
I don't know why miss Kors is a judge in a fashion design show... That's just a blue dress made from a simple basic pattern.
9/22/08 10:24 PM
That color Cynthia Nixon's wearing is FABULOUS. I'm not that crazy about the actual dress, mind, but that lovely ethereal blue is extremely flattering to her. Good call, Cynthia.
I like most of Heidi's outfits here, but I agree, the modified dresses look better in their original state.
And, erm, I sort of love the butterfly earrings. I kinda go crazy for over-the-top jewelry, especially earrings. It's kinda my thing.
9/22/08 10:28 PM
It was nice to hear Heidi say something different for a change. She doesn't even have to speak in PR, just record her speaking from season 1 and loop it in every season thereafter.
9/22/08 10:30 PM
uuuugggg, Mrs Ricky! christ! as soon as she saw that dress on Top Design, she said: "I'd buy that and wear it in a second."
and clearly, she did.
ugh. i hate her.
heidi looked pretty good - no short, tight, & shiny for her this time around! and the color of Cynthia Nixon's dress - GORGEOUS! i want to paint the whole world that color.....
9/22/08 10:50 PM
TLo,
Just watched People.com video at the Emmys.
Stars Guilty TV Pleasures - For Project Runway-
John Slattery (Mad Men) and his wife Talia Balsam.
Kathryn Van Joosten of Desperate Housewives.
Jane from Boston
9/22/08 11:04 PM
I LOVE the metallic Armani on Heidi. She looks gorgeous in it.
As far as Christian’s wrinkled rain sorrow dress - can some say steamer??
It’s not flattering on Heidi at all – any of it.
Gong!
9/22/08 11:12 PM
what about the dresses that christian designed for the trophy girls?
9/22/08 11:12 PM
Has Donna Karan decided that she hates women now? Those dresses are so unflattering, and I can't imagine them looking good on any body type.
9/22/08 11:16 PM
Heidi really looks great. Kudos to her gays for making her give that 17 year old hooker her wardrobe back! Now they need to give her some jewelry that isn't out of a gumball machine.
P.S. I secretly want the giant butterfly earrings!
9/22/08 11:46 PM
the dress felicity huffman
wore while presenting looked
a little laura bennet to me.
9/23/08 12:20 AM
John Slattery's married to Talia Balsam?! Who knew!! She is Clooney's ex and a very fine actress. I really like her work.
9/23/08 12:21 AM
Being a former model, I expected more from January Jones.
9/23/08 4:09 AM
Sorry, that I would love that Christian Siriano dress on Heidi in a different color and I think it makes her look sick.
Ah well, when I first saw her in the dress I was hoping for something a little more bitchy from you guys on that point
9/23/08 4:49 AM
Did anyone see Princess Puffysleeves on E's Emmy Fashion Police? He was great! For the most part very nice, but the bitch claws came out occasionally. He dubbed Jennifer Love Hewitt's hair as "mall bangs."
9/23/08 5:41 AM
Christian S. still wears the pants pulled too tight and crumpling, and a jacket like a box hanging incorrectly around his neck. Ho hum. The swirl-up dress has certainly been around and yes, it is WAY over the top for a TV awards show.
Speaking of which: the hosting was dreadful, Heidi didn't do PR any favors, except being a "good sport". So THAT'S why people tune in? 5 Reality hosts don't know how to host an unscripted, live program.
Also, the fashion inserts, her name-dropping Christian and showing Lauren Conrad's "designs"... were just further alienating anyone (still watching the trainwreck) from "fashion". Trying to bring the tacky side of red-carpet coverage into the awards ceremony that runs too long already, is pretty foolish especially when real winner's speeches are cut.
It can't be long before Karma is going to hit the PRunway world big-time. This is already the most boring of PR seasons, and Tim can't stop sounding like a PR machine, constantly claiming this is the best ever (best season, most talented designers, and Christian's runway show the best he has EVER seen...) and Heidi is no solo act, and finally... we hear her mention Christian and Lauren Conrad, which rings more true as the real comparison.
9/23/08 7:25 AM
She LOOKED great but has no business hosting an awards show. That woman needs speech lessons. Her voice is so squeaky and annoying- like nails on a chalkboard.
It was the most un-funny Emmys ever- Don Rickels was THE BEST!(made some sort of crack to Kathy Griffin like "yes lets read all this funny stuff they wrote for us", when it was clearly the worst material ever)
9/23/08 8:47 AM
I'm sorry- the Princess looks ridiculous. Preening cockatoo, indeed.
9/23/08 9:53 AM
Though I wish to say nothing negative about Sir Tim, didn't his tux look poorly fitted to anyone else? The jacket looked too big and too long, but perhaps it was just the pose he was in.
9/23/08 10:34 AM
So somebody finally told Heidi that she looks beautiful and doesn't have to wear clothes that are short and look cheap. It was really starting to get on my nerves. I am glad she showed off her figure with the clothing instead with skin.
9/23/08 11:29 AM
Question for the more couture-aware out there: who (usually)specifies the modifications to a couture design for a particular client? Client? Designer? Both?
9/23/08 1:12 PM
I thought Heidi's butterfly earrings were heavenly - not many people could pull them off, but she did!
9/23/08 1:13 PM
Fabulous post, TLO! Heidi looks gorgeous! I love everything especially the hair and makeup.
9/23/08 5:13 PM
when will Papa Tim and PPS go ahead and get married already?!?!?! christian is the perfect pocket gay to melt the ice encasing Tim's long wounded heart!
9/23/08 6:23 PM
The PR guys didn't make the grade.

Tim's tux looked rented.

Heidi looked fab on the red carpet and in the dresses by the Duchess and PPS.
Oprah, sweetie, we share a body type so next time just call me first, okay? Clearly the skinny minnies who dressed you have no clue what to do with your fabulous curves.
