Episode 5 Previews

So help us, if they open one more show with that damn ELLE cover with the Olsen troll on it, we're gonna scream.

And who works out in long plaid pants, anyway?

Looks like it's teams this week, kittens. Discuss.

Daniel: "I have very high-end taste..."

YES, WE KNOW! Ugh. Now show us something high-end and appropriate to the challenge already!

Y'know, when someone says "high-powered professional woman", "actress" is not the occupation that comes to my mind. Judge, CEO, advertising mogul, yes. Actress, no flaming way.

And leopard print? Oh, dear god.

Spiral Jacobs

I think the mission of this week's ep is to design for Brooke Shields' character Wendy Healy on Lipstick Jungle... hence the leopard/jungle connection. Also, Blayne said something about designing for her character. That adds a twist, since the outfit isn't for Brooke as Brooke, it's for the TV show character.

I saw (well, actually heard) that Kenley's obnoxious laugh will be returning in this episode.

Joy.

It LOOKS like the teams are:
Kelli/Daniel; Stella/Jerell; Leanne/Blayne; Kenley/Keith; Terri/Suede; and Joe/Korto - and it looks like the first 4 teams are the ones left on the runway for best & worst. Cheri

Ok...Brooke Shield's last movie was called **ready!** ok... Midnight Meat Train. and sadly no, it's not a porn, it's a grindhousy slasher flick (although not a bad one at that, imdb it).

And back to the challenge...from the past 3 episodes my eyes are already well adjusted to fuggness. Or at least i've expected them...so kenley, bring on those god-awful prints. Daniel and 'tall, model dude' bring on those 'high end "dinasty" reject dresses you guys call fashion. Keith, licious and whackedoodle, bring on your 'point of view.' At least it's brooke shields...so you're not really offending anyone (who's next, kim kardashian?)

This season has been a test of how much i can handle douchy-fashion mixed with unbearable personalities before i throw up my chinese take-outs. So bring it on, designers, bring it on!!!!

"Slutty slutty slutty" -- oh how I love it when the Duchess says that! It's funny and I can't wait to see what brought it on.

High-end Daniel certainly doesn't wear high-end when he's working out, does he?

And good God, when will people stop putting an Olsen on the cover of their magazines? Troll is right! Let those girls do what they do best -- partying and wearing clothes most wouldn't be caught dead in -- and keep them off the covers.

Jerell is wearing nail polish?

Ha! Teams! I'm sooo excited! These designers seem like they will be HORRIBLE in teams! I can't wait!

Core competencies, babies... How hard is it, really?

Um... Daniel doesn't want to be on the bottom?... (adolescent snicker)...

And Olsens were not always trolls.

Or could they be designing for Brooke Shields in her stellar role as Brenda Starr?
After all, comic heros are 'in' this year.
Even if the movie was not released.

(If one of them had real cojones they'd have a topless model homage to Brooke's appearance in Vogue many, many years ago.)

HAHA - Group Challenge!! Oh Korto, no WAY you're leaving the drama behind in this ep...

Wasn't "Lipstick Jungle" cancelled already?

I get it now -- it's the Green Season. Everything will be recycled, dammit! Most especially challenge concepts!

No Liptstick JUngle was renewed. Cashmre Mafia was cancelled.

Pity this gives so much away.

At least Brooke Shields use to be a professional model. So she has some fashion creds. More than Mr Ono and Sandra

Yesss, a team challenge! It's about time, PR5.

Terri & Suede = A winning team

Kelly & Daniel = Team in trouble

Joe & Korto = Team drama

Group challenge! Let the fights begin!

Why is Kenley laughing on the runway? Nobody is laughing except her. She's weird.

So is Daniel basically saying that he's too good for this challenge?

Oh man, I just want to clock Daniel and Kenley's heads together!

I think that's the first time they show any of the designers working out, isn't it?

I hate team challenges because it always ends up that the team leader goes home even though they say it could be either one. They say teamwork matters, no it doesn't, only the team leads ever leave.

Was Mood having a sale on fugly fabrics? This group has no taste.

Jesus, the Project Runway Lounge SUCKS!

They really should have TLo call them for a quick design consultation. The TLounge is much more chic.

My early prediction is that Daniel gets the BOOT this week.

I think that's the first time they show any of the designers working out, isn't it?

Now they showed them a lot in season 1

Oh sweet Jesus, I hope Kenley's laughing at Daniel!

This episode looks like it's gonna be good. I'm curious to see the designs.

Brooke Shields? Really? Wow. The guest judges this season have been leaving me decidedly underwhelmed. To her credit, Sandra left me just whelmed.

I bet team suede/terri comes up with something great!

Teams! I suggest two: Jets & Sharks.

If that flowered fabric was Kenley's, there is definitely a pattern of serious bad fabric choices with her.

And I don't know if Brooke Shields knows a lot about fashion, but she is a very nice person, so she would have been pleasant for the designers to deal with.

Why is Heidi carrying a purse when entering the runway at the beginning? Is she carrying cab fare? Does she need to leave right afterwards?

jenster - it's not a purse. It's the bag from which she will draw the designers' names for them to choose their models.

In other news, did Stella get a makeover?

I like Brooke Shields and she has had very interesting career transformations. I don't mind her as a guest judge as I see her as fashion conscious and highly articulate.

I hope Daniel doesn't get kicked off as predicted...I'd love to see Kenley get a firm talking to by the judges about decorum and respect for other designers. I can only hope.

Was I hallucinating or did Blayne say "uni-short?".......YIKES

Daniel's plaid pants just look like pajama pants to me, so it's not that strange that he would work out in them.

anonymous 8:53 -- you're right, they weren't always trolls. They used to be baby orangutans. They've since devolved.

Leopard? Oh no.

" They used to be baby orangutans. They've since devolved. "

Heh. At least they're into clothes.

I was looking at the clip of the top and bottom teams and trying to figure out who was missing (so, safe and in the middle) and came up with Terri, Korto, and Joe fast-- and couldn't remember Suede until someone commented on him. Not sure what that means.

They're giving too much away. What's the matter with Bravo?

Indieglo said of the Olsen chimps, "At least they're into clothes." Well,
sort of.
But not really.

I'm glad it's a team challenge--
it appears that Daniel finally (well maybe) figures out he is being f***ed with! Although too late to do anything about it.

Cool, I love team challenges!

Something tells me that they're going to put Kenley on the chopping block for not being able to behave professionally. My bet is that she's going to get up there and completely bash whoever she was working with and the judges are going to call her on being unprofessional.

I'm kind of puzzled at why everyone seems so down on some of the guest judges this year. After all, Anton Apollo Ono wasn't asked to judge ball gowns. He judged what he knew best, Olympic uniforms. To me it isn't any different than Sasha Cohen judging skating costumes. And Brooke Shields started modeling at a very young age. She always seems to be the epitome of good taste when it comes to fashion.
The one I can't figure out is Sandra Bernhardt. I do know she did some modeling some years ago and they referred to her as knowing New York nightlife.
I hope they bring back DVF again, she has always been my favorite of the guest judges!
----StkrShock

Who wears plaid workout pants? Willy Wonka?

"siriuslover says:

Well, after Nina & Ms. Kohrs laughed at one of the designers last week, I don't think they can say much to Kenley about it.

SisterZip

Well, IndigoBlueSuede said "I" to Ms. Shields. Maybe he realized that his third-person shtick wouldn't play so well to an intelligent potential client....

Those predictable intros have gotten awfully boring, haven't they?

Daniel's awfully full of himself, too. Can that man ever smile?

Kenley, why choose a flowered fabric that screams, oh... juvenile or elderly, take your pick, Target/Kohl's/JCPenney? Yiii.

StkrShock, I'm with you on your assessment of the judges. Bernhardt was the real clinker so far.

I also concur that these teasers are disclosing a heckova lot. Kinda throwing in the towel, aren'tcha, Magical Elves?

All the best,

NDC

When I saw Blayne's screen shot and read "that damn ELLE cover with the Olsen troll on it" I had a brain malfunction and thought they'd put Blayne's photo on the cover of Elle as the long lost Olsen brother. There are some similarities...

Three over-tanned, underdeveloped, overhyped, bug-eyed unwashed trolls with not a lick of style amongst them.

Suzette

Does Daniel work out? Wow!

I can't wait to find out what that's about.

Ack, Blayne must die for his camera-whoredom. always the last one out the apartment door, saying something stupid, and this time, he even "forgets to shut the door" - GOD!!!! I can't stand it anymore. This is "personality"?!?!?!? This is why I can't watch other reality shows. Okay, I have watched a few seasons of America's Top Model but at least that isn't pretending to be a show about skills. PR is supposed to be about skills, isn't it? Well, isn't it?

Blayne: "I didn't want to give her another dress..." yeah well, no shit. Has Blayne made any actual dresses? I mean the first challenge wasn't even clothing...

My last name is Olsen. It's very strange to see this commentary. Living in a world where the Olsen twins are famous is repeatedly disconcerting.

perfect. team challenge = PLENTY of drama and bitchery for our little PR Party this wednesday night!!

can't wait!

Korto totally stole Shannone. I know it!

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll kick off both members of the losing team. :)

Why is everybody so down on Kenley? Jeez, they show one clip of her laughing and all of the sudden she's PR's Steve Urkel. All Sissybear did last year was laugh (and he had a much, MUCH more disruptive laugh), and everybody loved him. I just don't see what the problem is w/ approaching the show with good humor.

Thank you. And since when did the judges decide to punish someone for showing "poor decorum" to the other contestants?! And since when was laughing "poor decorum"? (I'm not saying it can't be, but one must know the context to determine this.) In the history of PR there have been a lot of assholes on the show, and manipulators, and I've seen little of this from Kenley. I mean I know we are crossing our fingers for some drama, but ...

I hope they're not sending two designers home. I hate when that happens.

Not everybody is down on her, but there is a difference between laughing at yourself or with your fellow competitors, and laughing at your fellow competitors and their misfortune. That is not to say she is laughing at Daniel, but it certainly looks like it. That could be in the editing though, who knows?
Maybe she's a changeling, aren't they supposed to laugh at inappropiate times (like funerals)?

I think Duchess probably called Kelli's leopard dress "slutty slutty slutty" and that is what Kenley finds so funny. I think she's laughing at comments on someone else's look and not her own. I also think it could be a nervous laugh. I don't think she really means to disrespect anyone and I'd be very, very surprised if she were eliminated for it.

I guess it's the magic of editing. Include a couple of designers complaining on camera about Kenley's laughter (complaints probably made in response to producer's questions about the other contestants), include a shot of Kenley laughing on the runway and a shot of an agitated Daniel (when isn't he agitated?) snapping "what's so funny?", and suddenly a mob with pitchforks and torches materializes ready to hunt her down and set her ablaze. Chill out, people.

Suede & Leatha (Stella) = how perfect would that team be

I agree that Duchess is probably referring to Kelli's dress when he says "slutty, slutty, slutty". Daniel's reference to his impeccable taste is probably his defense that he is not responsible for the fabric choices. So this probably means Daniel/Kelli are one of the bottom two teams.
Based on Kenley's laughter, I'm guessing that the Keith/Kenley team is probably one of the top teams, although I suppose it could be nervous laughter. (I absolutely do not believe that she is laughing at the expense of another designer. When has she shown this kind of outright disrespect? I've certainly never seen a sign of it.)
So I'm guessing that Blayne/Leanne is one of the to and Keith/Kenley are top teams, and Daniel/Kelli and Jerell/Stella are bottom.

When Daniel is kicked off, (or he wins and the show is over), I bet he's going to say that it was in the editing, and he didn't say, "I have high-end taste, this isn't what I do," as often as it seems.

Kenley's laughter seems rude, like she was used to laughing at other kids in her school.

"Kenley's laughter seems rude, like she was used to laughing at other kids in her school"

Really? Really? I don't see this at all, but then maybe I wasn't laughed at by the other kids at school.

I heard "bermuda short."

Wah! Why must I be out of town for the first team challenge? :(

And as someone who was used to having people laugh at them in school, anonymous, I agree with esther. What a shame you weren't, it builds character.

I don't know, I was laughed at occasionally in school, and I would have to say that, based on her past behavior with Daniel (in the last episode, weren't they giggling like schoolgirls together?), Daniel could just have easily been asking her what she was laughing at so he could be in on the joke, too. Honestly, I used to have these intense joking sessions with friends at school in which every little thing (no matter how inane) was just hilarious (no, marijuana was not involved), and Kenley's laughter reminds me more of those than of any malicious teasing I may have endured.

Of course, this is all speculation, and I mostly wrote my original "Steve Urkel" comment in response to how quickly people seemed to turn on Kenley after the one (quite belabored, in my opinion) clip last episode where all of her giggling fits were made into a montage. I just found it odd that people were so willing to forgive Sissybear his guffaws (indeed, his good humor made him all the more likeable) and yet are so ready to berate Kenley for (what I see) as similar behavior.

And, Sewing Siren, I actually DID laugh at my (great) grandmother's funeral, and I loved her dearly, so perhaps I feel the need to defend us well-intentioned but overly giggly female folk. Perhaps Kenley and I should run off into the forest and be changelings together. At least we would be fashionable changelings ;).

-E

No more cross promotion, Bravo. Enough!

I don't have much of a problem with Kenley's personality either; it seems to me like she's getting the Bitch Edit and we're not really getting an accurate portrait of her. So her laugh is annoying - big deal, there's an annoying laugh-er every year. If I dislike her for anything, it's for winning with that godawful tumor dress.
