Someone put on their bitchpants that morning.

Monday, January 14, 2008 by

Miss Mary Jack Mackenroth shot his mouth off to the Advocate, and bitchy queen that he is, gave us a lot of choice quotes. To wit:

" Let’s just say that there are seven New Yorkers from the show this season and only four of us hang out -- and Chris is not one of them."

"Rami just thinks that he is better than everyone else."

"
Her [Elisa's] clothes look a lot better on television than they looked in person. To some of us it was a little bit insulting that she was on as long as she was, because she doesn’t have the skills that we all practiced so hard to be on the show."

"And I don’t mean to sound conceited, but if you’re kind of quirky and like a Jay McCarroll–type character, you can get away with saying some nasty things [in the interviews], because people are like, 'Oh, he’s the quirky, bitchy guy.' But if you’re kind of attractive, you’ll come off as being a really full-of-yourself bitch."

And the ultimate in irony:

"Basically, what happens when you bash other contestants is you look bad."

bitchpants are all the rage this season. I've had mine on for at least a month.

Jack, oh, Jack. I'm sorry he had his staph infection and left. This would have been just the sort of drama we need this time around. I would have loved to see him go postal on the gang while he was still there.

Do you think they are all mad at Chris because he made it to the finals?
I mean can you imagine if Vincent or Angelia had won the "Black and White" challenge and then made it to the finals (after having been elimanated from the show once)?

Well, I'm glad Jack has his looks to fall back on because his personality isn't doing much for me.

Funny that Jack didn't mention that he got his staph infection while getting a facelift just before filming began...

Jack who? Is this someone I should know?

Anonymous said...

What's that you had for breakfast? Sour grapes?

Sheesh. I'm starting to hope he doesn't get back on the show next season. And I'm even viewing his designs more critically (interesting, that.) Now I'm thinking his best skill is in picking fabric, because his construction and design is really just....mass market.

And he hangs with Va ya ya? Wow.

The more Jack bitches about how "unfair" it is that Chris came back, the more I am convinced Chris made it to the finals.

Snarky can be attractive; bitchy not so much. Although if Jack's nasties are because Chris makes it to Bryant Park, then I'm happy. I'd love to see the big cuddly bear showing at Fashion Week. He's the only one I'm rooting for at this point.

Without making any judgments about either Jack or Chris (but: go Sissybear!), I have to say that it's really not all that surprising that someone like Jack and someone like Chris would not choose to hang out with each other. Just read the whole interview. He really does have the knives out for Chris - but it seems misplaced. If Chris wasn't a nice guy, why was everyone in the workroom so happy to see him back?

Please! I had Miss Jack pegged as a stuck-up, bitchy (and not in the fun sense!) queen weeks ago when she first left the show and news of her relationship with Dale broke -- and was roundly attacked here for saying so. Hmmm. Pretty f**king prescient, no???

Sadly, Jack is representative of too many gay men who believe that their (arguably) good looks make them better than their less genetically-blessed peers. It's high school all over again! But his (and their) actions simply mask deep-seated insecurities. Pity.

Anonymous said...

My girlfriend's step-family (who she loves) has a lot of relatives with diabetes. It's taken a huge emotional, financial and physical toll on parents, kids, nephews, nieces... .

She doesn't want to date someone with diabetes 'cause she's already seen the fall-out of the disease and doesn't want to fall into a relationship that will invariably cause her more hurt.

Next time I see her, I guess I'll have to tell her she's lame... .

Honestly - has Jack's pills made him wonky? I remember the last season (?) of 'Top Designer' had a contestant who freely admitted that his HIV drugs caused him to be sometimes emotionally unstable. At least, that was the excuse for his tense, angry outbursts.

M'eh. I never liked Jack much. He just reeked of desparation from the get-go.

And the fact he mentions who he hangs out with bodes well. If they have time to hang, they ain't designing and creatin' for Bryant Park, then.

Well even though I think Sissy Bear is big 'ol adorable teddy bear, the toned 'Chelsea' gays would shun him because he's "NOKD" (not our kind, Dear.) And you all thought cliques ended with high school...

I'm trying realllly hard to see Jack's side of this, but I just can't. At the end of the day, it's the pretty muscleboy kicking the fat kid on the playground. Jack may have just alienated 90% of his fan base with this interview.

He's so quick to cite "favorable editing" as being responsible for Sissbear and InterPlanet Janet's popularity, that I'm SURE he'll claim his quotes in the interview were edited/taken out of context.

Let the fallout begin....

Jack Mackenroth said...

I did that interview months ago and all I was trying to point out is that what you see on TV and the reality is very different. You actually know almost nothing about peoples personalities from the bits you see. I have nothing against Chris. I like him. I just think everyone has been duped because they only show one side of him. I'm certainly not perfect either. I even say in the interview that I have a bitchy side but if you read the whole article I'm not malicious. I also think its funny that this entire blog is devoted to bitchy comments and you all participate whole heartedly, but when I make a couple honest comments based on the truth of the experience then I'm a bitter queen. Interesting.

You deserve better than that. And as far as being taken "out of context". The media can only do with what you give them.

Considering, this isn't the first time he's been bitching, I tend to believe he's an upstuck drama queen who's still pulling friends from the high school cliques.

And what about Sylvia, Jack? Your client for the "Skinny" episode? Did you just want the producers to screw her over 'cause you got sick? How else were they to handle it other than bringing back the last eliminated person? By bringing back Simone? someone from an earlier season? Pay
Sylvia off?

Aw, don't get mad Jack, you're still good looking and we still love you!

Anonymous said...

Now I may be a novice with this ... but is it lame to not want to date somebody who is Poz? Is that any lamer than not wanting to date a smoker? While they are different, both involve becoming romantically linked with somebody who (a) has health issues and (b) could pass health issues to you. While discriminating on dating partners for such reasons is a personnel preference, I don't think protecting oneself from emotional or physical pain is lame.

Hi Jack,

I don't think you are a bitter queen. When I met you, at the bobblehead signing, you seemed quite nice (though I remember you saying that the commenters here were mean, which is why I didn't mention to you that I was gothamtomato:)

But you also said you weren't allowed to answer back on blogs, so I'm wondering if this was actually you commenting.

It is always interesting to hear how people who've been on shows react to the editing. Some seem to agree with it & some don't. Last year, when I met someone from S3, I asked them about that, & whether Jeffrey was as nasty as he seemed, or was that just editing. They said the editing was actually kind to him; that in reality, he was much worse.

Given the fact that they couldn't show the entirety of what happened when you left, how do you feel about the way you were edited?

Love that Jack is reading this blog. It kind of gives me hope that he realizes his comments were a little too back biting, and he (hopefully) regrets making them in the interview.

Since you're reading, Jack: Next time you do an interview, you may want to edit yourself and sound a little more professional. Better yet, hire a PR professional. This can only do harm to your career.

Anonymous said...

Look, I'm not ready to throw Jack over the side here. He won a challenge. He clearly has a sense of humor (his flashdance video is on the funniest things I've seen on Youtube). And, as he points out, we don't really know any of these people. It's an edited television show.

I'm also sure The Advocate has a POV and is going for the best article it can get here. (We've all read it.) After listening for over a week now to the main stream media and commentators from across the political spectrum make is sound like Hillary Clinton had a fifteen minute sobfest followed by a nervous breakdown in New Hampshire, I am more than a little jaundiced.

So, Jack, Kevin, Christian and VictorYa made great new friendships on PR and they hang out. Great. The others don't hang with them. Isn't it that way on any job--much less in the pressure cooker of PR? Big deal.

I still think Jack's multiple comments on Chris mean more than he's upset that Chris replaced him. If Chris just came back to get dragged through a few challenges, who cares?

Jack in the interview: "Let's just say that there are seven New Yorkers from the show this season and only four of us hang out -- and Chris is not one of them."

Jack (or "Jack") here: " I have nothing against Chris. I like him."

His word choice in the Advocate interview was deliberate....he could have just as easily said "I don't hang out with Chris" or "I'm only close with 4 designers."

Instead, he goes all "Mean Girls" and says something more along the lines of "Chris can't roll with us cool kids." He comes across as a jerk in the Advocate interview, no matter how it was edited. And if that's how he speaks about those he "likes" then his friends better watch their backs!

I'm sure the tone of this thread will change drastically now that Jack (or "Jack") has chimed in -- in fact it already has. But the interview is a disaster. His best bet now would be to play the villain role (Jack Pepper?) in order to guarantee being cast on Season 5 and anything but a footnote come reunion time.

Anonymous said...

I'm not terribly surprised by his current comments. I remember reading the bio pages at Bravo before the first show. Each designer names a fashion "must have". Most of them chose things like bright colors or great boots.

Jack's Fashion Must: a sugar daddy

Back then, I wrote it off as being diva-cheeky, but considering his latest statements about who he doesn't/won't socialize with, eh...doesn't come off as humorous.

At 38, he should have gained some self-awareness and diplomacy. Beauty fades...for everyone, no exceptions. Whatever will he do when his pectorals slide down into the lumpen-pancakes they are destined to become? I kindly suggest that he add a large dose of humility to his Wheaties.

Sewing Siren said...

So T and Lo,(if you don't mind) Is it or is it not Jack Mack that's posting? or would you rather not say?

Yes it's me. And yes I was jealous of Chris. I was jealous of all the designers that got to stay when I had to leave. And yes, I also benefited from editing. I believe I am a genuine, kind person. I have my moments as we all do. I love Elisa. She's an amazing woman. I like Rami as well. He's amazingly talented. Chris is a great guy and I wish him the best.

Regarding all the comments about how hot I think I am: I never once said that. I don't think I'm ugly, but I didn't ask them to show me in my underwear. I have major insecurities just like everyone else. Anyway. Have fun ripping on me. I've had enough for one day.

Anonymous said...

He's so unpleasant. I wish him the best but I'd rather watch Chris any day.

Anonymous said...

Not malicious? Elisa's clothes looked better on television? Ricky cried all the time (which, by the way, was a slight variation from your earlier interview in which you said you never saw him crying until the confessional stuff aired with the show), Chris is not part of the group of 4 New Yorkers who hang out together?

The editing makes him look good! Bwah, hah! They didn't show the cast upset enough at my leaving, and edited to look as if their tears dried the second Chris entered the workroom! (Ring a bell?)

Spare me, Mary. I don't doubt that your opinions are honest. But your judgment appears to be eroding with the passage of time, and I get the sense your opinions are evolving also.

In the earlier interview I referred to above you simply said you didn't think Chris' return was fair. That was a fine and appropriate expression of your opinion. This was a lengthy and pointed effort to point out that his work on the client you left behind was "heinous," that you and the other thin kids don't hang with him.

Yes, we exist to snark, true enough. But it's also true that we have the ability to do this anonymously, and people don't take them as personal because we don't know them. Nor are we competing with them in any way; either in a show or in the court of public opinion. You on the other hand, know these contestants, have shared the spotlight with them, and in a real way will continue to compete with them in the marketplace. So your comments seem to reflect a simple bitterness that they are somehow getting ahead of you. Maybe we're all wrong, maybe you were tricked, misquoted, the comments are out of context, whatever. Though your comment here (if it is you) suggests that you gave that interview freely and willingly and from a deep-seated desire to be a mischevious bitch.

Well congratulations. As you are free as a bird to snark on others, we are free as birds to think less of you for having done so.

Hope your health is perfect this year.

But I'm not that gullible. I could create a Blogger ID and call myself "Jack M." but it doesn't mean I'm him. Is our troll back?

Anonymous said...

wow, Jack you certainly got dealt a shitty hand on the show but if you are going to make snarky comments about other people you invite snarkiness back. I think the personal stuff that people say is lame but on the whole I think the bitchery on this blog deals more with the product and how people present themselves than anything else (with a few horrid exceptions of course who know who they are).

Anonymous said...

Oh no, I just got here, too late to comfort the energetic, cheerful and skilled Jack! Nothing he said was all that nasty...Attractive people often are held to a higher standard when it comes to spreading snarkiness. (Which is the way it should be. Everyone remembers and hates the mean, beautiful girls in high school.) It's okay to not like Chris. Or to think Elisa didn't have enough technical skills. And if we've learned anything from reality television its that remarks taken out of context can be very misleading.

Well, I think I would be fairly unhappy to see my life and work discussed on a blog like this. It would take enormous restraint not to reply.

While I am of the opinion that Jack may be one of the self-appointed gay 'A list', editing makes all the difference in the way we perceive someone on television or in print. So Sweet P may not be that sweet, Sissy Bear may have claws, Puppet Girl may actually be sharp, Ricky may dry (um, no, cancel that last one.)

But even if Jack were the DivaQueenBitchFromHell, leaving the production for medical reasons was a fate nobody deserves.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Jack that editing can show only one side of a reality show "character". I also realize that a journalist can give a one-sided view, but I believe that often an interview subject has a little more control over how they are portrayed. Chris may have lucked out with his portrayal on PR, but Jack seems to have made it very easy for The Advocate to portray him as bitter and condescending.

I share others' suspicions that Chris must have made it to the Final 3. I also assume Rami must have made it, in addition to one of the New York designers not included in the Fab 4 (maybe Jillian?).

All that said, I wish Jack the very best in his career and relationship, and I hope that any feelings of anger or regret soften with time.

Meow, Jack. Next time you do an interview, please remember that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
TLo, I think his comments were honest in a VERY bitchy way. There was no need to criticize the other contestants like that. You can express an opinion without savaging someone. Of course Chris and Elisa were edited a certain way. So was Jack, or has he forgotten that? Now we're seeing HIS true colors? So he wasn't the sweet, nice looking, fun and talented guy? Or was he the only one who got an "honest" edit this season?
Puhleeze. Besides, it's one thing to come here and get bitchy, because it's all in fun, but to go to a serious publication and get bitchy is just bad taste.

Poor Jack. He cannot possibly think too much of himself if he finds it necessary to slam such an innofensive soul as Chris. Perhaps if had had a nice mommy like Elysa - or a bad mommy like Laura -he would have a little more self esteem and a lot more humanity.

I know from experience, that that is not neccessarily so. But beyond that, I think Jack's point was that we here snark about the contestants & their work, and then when he snarks, in an interview, some people turn on him. And I agree, he has a point there.

I'm not sure he's bitter, but if he is, he does have a right to be: Judging from the garments he showed in the runway preview, he was a likely pick for the finals. But having to pull himself out because of health issues is sort of like being named to the Olympic team, and then spraining your ankle at the opening ceremony & having to withdraw.

It has to be hard to sit and watch others, some of lesser talent, still there doing what he didn't get the chance to do, through no fault of his own.

Of course it's hard. But he's not a child, nor is he someone who inadvertantly found himself in the spotlight. He's an adult, he claims (or wants) to be a professional, and he's someone who sought the limelight, both initially on PRW, and specifically in this interview.

He should have risen to the occasion, with dignity, grace and fairness to all involved. Instead he shoots his big fat mouth off and goes out of his way to malign Chris and the rest.

You say it was "through no fault of his own" that Jack had to leave, yet it is certainly not Chris's fault that Jack had to go home; it's also not his fault that he was the designer brought back to replace him. It's a game, a contest, a competition. It's a shame Jack couldn't finish it, but Chris did nothing unfair to Jack. Jack just sounds like a sore...also-ran (loser seems awfully harsh).

His comments are just nasty and bitter. Agree with the poster who called it a "Mean Girls" move. I don't wish him ill will...but I don't have a nice impression of him after this. That's putting it mildly.

He has ALL THE RIGHT to be bitter about bringing Chris back. Remember when they brought Vincent and Angela back? The fans were OUTRAGED! Nobody is saying anything now because people like Chris. In my opinion, if you were auf'd you should not get a second chance no matter what.

If he makes it to the final three that is going to be a war.

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." - John Lennon

Just read the article and it comes across to me more as the disappointed reflections of someone who feels like an "almost was" than as a full frontal character assassination. The problem for Jack is that we cannot hear any of the humor or wry head-shaking in his voice that might have been there in person. We only have the written word which can be very revealing.

So there may be two lessons here. One - it is important to be careful what you say, especially if you are going to be quoted. Two - by its nature, life is uncertain and our control of events is severely limited. Adults deal with it and move on.

Why am i not suprised? Dishes but then can't take the heat.
Shut up and shake it off jack, you said it now stew in the fallout.

You seem very bitter all the time. i've always gotten that vibe from you.

Let's see you started with your own menswear store?
Then that didn't work out or whatever so you went to work under a famous label designer in Tommy Hilfiger.
Then you left that and went to work for a mass -produced generic label i've never heard of owned by Levis?
Then went from that to another mass produced label i've never heard of.

You seem to be on the down escalator in the fashion world instead of the UP.

Now i feel for you having this virus and the meds and what the side effects must entail.
But that does not entitle you to hold your nose in the air and piss on everyone you feel is beneath you in
fashion or anywhere else, especially considering your career track record in the fashion world to date.

What i don't agree with are all the comments attacking his facial appearance.

It is my understanding that the HIV cocktail has the effect of sinking in the cheeks and eyes.
If he's had facial procedures to help that I do not hold that against him, but it may also be the reason he is so prone to staff in the facial area.

"He has ALL THE RIGHT to be bitter about bringing Chris back. Remember when they brought Vincent and Angela back? The fans were OUTRAGED! "

They were brought back as a ratings stunt. Chris was brought back to replace a designer who had to drop out. Bravo wasn't going to produce one less episode because a contestant had a health issue, they needed a full slate of designers to round out the series. It's a completely different situation and really should make no difference to Jack; it's not Chris's fault Jack had to leave, nor did he do anything wrong or unfair; he was the last auffed designer so naturally it made sense that he should be the one brought back to replace Jack.

I'll be the first to admit that the Jackbashing is a little much. If it is indeed Jack commenting on this here blog, I appreciate you wanting to communicate your POV to us--that takes balls. Putting aside one interview that made Jack look rather catty, his barbs weren't any sharper than any other snarky 'mo--and if you saw the first episode (when he shook hands with Kevin and said something akin to "we'll hate each other by the end!"), you would sort of pick up on that being Jack's personality. I do wish the interview didn't make him look like a bitter queen, but it could have happened to anyone this season who left prematurely and didn't get a chance to strut his/her stuff. This season, it happened to be Jack.

Wow, all the bitchy energy flying about!!!

In fairness to everyone I can understand the gut reactions everyone has posted.

As far as Jack's comments about:

1)Rami. Kind of understandable given the minor flack during the menswear challenge

2)Elisa. This has been commented before by a couple of the other designers. However it was done with much more grace and diplomacy.

3)Chris. Whether it was intentional or not there does appear to be an underlying hostility towards Chris that has nothing to do with his design talent. Why would there be one? Dont know, don't care.

That said I agree the interview seem to imply a tone of an unfulfilled opportunity due to something outside of his control.
I recall in an early interview Jack was saying he was doing this as a chance to show what he could do as a designer since in his job at the time he was very limited in what he could create on a mass market scale.

In my opinion Jack really did not have a chance to show what he could do or was about as a designer. Certainly not based on just his output on the show. To this day I still don't have a clear feel for his POV-even with the minirunway show last fall. During the course of Jack's tenure I think contestants like Rami, Christian, Victorya, Elisa, Chris and Kit were much more successful in communicating their style and identity.

Ultimately being on the show is more about exposure than the title/prize. Rami is hardly short on clientele. Elisa had already garnered plenty of buzz from the major fashion mags and was at fashion week prior.

My general view of Jack really is no different than what I formed during the show. He's a guy that is not untalented. I don't hate him but neither do I feel sorry for him. Jack probably got more buzz and press coverage than any other contestant coming into the season. He has been shown to certainly be willing to capitolize on the fame as much as possible. Sadly the fame and buzz currently seems, to me at least, a lot less to do with his design talent.

Except for the nature of the challenge, PR didn't need to bring anyone back. Last season, Keith was out for violations and someone was eliminated that ep as well.

And Vincent and Angela had to win to stay.

I suspect they brought someone back because of the guest models in the challenge and wouldn't have done so for, say, the chocolate extravaganza.

I love how people change their tone after Jack posted.

Amusing, really.

I'm all for bitching too! However, I can dish and I can take it. Jack, honey, put your big girl panties on and do the same.

One more thing. We bitch on this blog about people we don't know and have no relationship whatsoever with (being on personal or professional level). You know this people on BOTH levels. So I don't think that WE bitching about strangers on a reality tv show (on a blog made to make critics) and you doing it to a magazine (which naturally is promoting you by just making an interview), is the same.

I'm sorry you can't see the difference.

Just to wrap this up (I have so much more to say, but this is already quite long, so I'll stop), I would like to say that I think Jay's bitchness is entertaining not because he's fat or "quirky", but because he does it to get that specific reaction you are all butt-hurt about.

I wish you no harm. In fact, I wish you all the success you can get. I'm sure you have lots of talent to share with the world.

But if you don't know how to play, don't come to the playground.

Someone that calls themselves "Jack" made this comment on the blog:

"Regarding all the comments about how hot I think I am: I never once said that. I don't think I'm ugly, but I didn't ask them to show me in my underwear."

Yet in the Advocate interview, he says this:

"Did you consider what to wear on the show?

Oh, yeah, honey, I planned all that. [In the third episode] you see me in a tank top. I thought, Hey I could leave at any moment, I’m going to get some T and A in there. People have given me grief for having my clothes off for two seconds on the show. I’m like, whatever."

My earlier comment has disappeared for some reason, but I want to reinterate that when it comes to being in the public eye, discretion IS the better part of valor.

As has already been discussed before, Keith was part of a three-person team for the challenge. He left, two other people continued from his team. The model went down the runway as planned (and looked great, if I remember correctly).

So his elimination didn't throw off that whole episode, it just increased the workload of the remaining team members.

Perhaps the production switched out another team challenge later in the season to a single elimination (can't remember if there were any more team challenges) or the episode where Vincent and Angela came back was to address the fact there was one designer less than planned at that stage.

I don't know, and I don't care.

All I can do is make a call about what they send down the runway.

HOWEVER when reality show contestants start doing these interviews and reveal a little bit more about who they really are, well I can start to form an opinion based on what I read.

Dissing fellow contestants that you have to see again and again is not only unprofessional its just not very bright.

Why say those things about people like Elisa? WE can because she chose to put herself up for that scrutiny by signing up for Project Runway and we do not work with her or have any kind of personal relationship with her. But a colleague/fellow contestant? Not cool.

To me it seems that Jack may have felt that due to editing, the viewer was left with the impression that the other designers were blase about his having to leave and ecstatic about Chris' returning. As an avid viewer, (I watch each epsiode 9,000 times) it didn't come off that way at all -- your co designers seemed genuinely sad to see you leave, and genuinely happy to see Chris return -- and we all watching felt the same way.

Not necessarily. My son had a MRSA at age 3 and was in the hospital for five days, four with an iv directly to his his head.

BTW, I want to apologize to Jack & any others for my bitchy comments. We do have to take things with a grain of salt & remember the editing. We're all entitled to our opinions, and not obligated to like everyone.

Private citizens getting caught dissing their colleagues within a small circle of people deal with the consequences - including getting ostrasized by officemates, bosses and other colleagues. This could lead to broken friendships and getting fired. That's pretty severe.

Somebody who freely admits to wanting to shiney up his 15 minutes of celebrity *and* disses his colleagues by name to an influential and large circulation magazine/website *also* has to deal with the consequences.

And this is them.

Not pretty, but saying that stuff publicly was pretty stupid, too.

But, fear not. It's not like any of us are his friends, colleagues or future employers so the Jack of All Fallouts - 2008debacle may simply mean he doesn't get the 'Ms. Congeniality' award at the end of the season.

Of course G.T. but we are not reality TV contestants speaking about them in a magazine interview. I think you feel differently because you had the opportunity to meet him, he was apparently nice to everyone at that event, therefore you are willing to excuse this latest verbal diarrhea.

I am not saying Jack is the devil, but I am saying he needs to take it down a notch or two in the disclosure department. If I had his design talent I would much rather be remembered for that than for having the most negative things to say in public about the other designers.

If Jack "loved" Elisa he would have abided by the "if you have nothing nice to say" rule that my 7 year old seems to have a better grasp on than he does. And Wendy I did read the whole article. I still feel he just should have said nothing. It seems like he is pissed about having to leave

(understood- I would have been too and I was hoping he would be giving an automatic pass back in to season 5 but now ther eis no way in hell I'd ever want to be a fellow desinger in a workroom with him after seeing how little respect he has for the others)

and desperately wants everyone to remember him so he is saying whatever will keep him in the public eye. He doesn't really need to do that. He has the design chops to stay in the public eye in THAT capacity.....

I don't think you understand how PR works. Based on what I know about other reality shows, the competitions follow one immediately after the other with no more than one day off. On some productions they even work through the weekends.

Even if Jack were only out for five days and was able to immediately come back, he would have missed at least one, perhaps two or more competitions. How can he be allowed to rejoin without treating the other contestants unfairly?

The producers really can't just stop the production for a week, especially if they don't know for sure that the ailing designer will be well enough to resume soon.

You should also know that contestants have no internet access, they can only make limited, monitored phone calls (if they are allowed any calls at all)and their cell phones, keys and wallets are confiscated when they join. This is to ensure that nobody gets outside help. So the designers are like a bunch of small children that cannot be left alone and it would be pretty boring for them to sit around waiting to see if Jack was going to come back.

Did Mother Teresa do an interview for the Advocate with accompanying booty shot dissing on the bitches in her order? No? Then this is not a valid comparison. You can bitch all you want in private. When you go public, then the public will judge you based on what you say. That's only fair and it's all in the game. Don't like it, don't give bitchy interviews.

My problem with Jack is his ungraciousness, which is obviously due to bitterness (he admits as much). You're sad and jealous? That sucks, but those are YOUR PROBLEMS. They are not Chris' fault. Blaming him for your misfortune is irrational and smack of an inability to accept your loss as an adult. Deal with them gracefully if you want to be seen as kind, professional, and gracious.

Or, have fun snarking away and we'll do the same. Don't expect any better than you give, sister.

Okay, okay...I know this will give me away as gay, but doesn't Jack seem like Eve Harrington 3/4 through of "All About Eve" after she's said all these spiteful things about Margot Channing? Claiming Addison twisted her words to make them seem so much worse?

Wow, I can't believe he thinks he got a bad editing job when he left.

I think someone is a little bitter and that is fine. Just admit it, own it and people will forgive. That is how is works, if you want to be bitchy you have to balance it out somehow.

Remember when Laura made the comment to Kayne about, 'questioning his taste' but when he pointed out the previous weeks dress , laura freely admitted that it was beautiful? You have to strike that balance of bitchy with laughing at yourself or genuine compliments or something.

But some of the comments seemed very cruel. Maybe he was trying to be 'funny' and it just missed the mark?

Huh.

I read the entire article, and his attitude puzzled me a bit. Did he really feel like Bravo portrayed his leavetaking as a non-event? From where I was sitting, it looked like all the designers were genuinely sorry to see him go. A few of them, like Sweet P and Christian, looked really distraught. *I* was even getting a little teary-eyed watching it. Their joy at the return of Chris doesn't negate any of that. It's not as if the cast voted Jack off the island and then invited Chris back on. I understand that Jack is disappointed -- who wouldn't be? But this seems like he's taking it out on his fellow contestants a bit.

Wow... reading these posts for the past 30 minutes is better than watching 30 minutes of certain episodes of PR4!!!!

LOVE THE DRAMA!

Just because Elysa is a free spirited artist who has a different take on fashion that stands out way more than Jacks designs does not mean she produces crap.
Just because Rami has actual talent and a clear point of view about his work and is not easily swayed by others opinions does not make him someone who thinks he is better than everybody else
Just because Chris is sweet and a happy go lucky guy does not make him uncool to hang out with Jack.
Just because Ricki is emotional does not mean Jack should make fun of him. Nobody has made fun of jack Having Hiv or being sick and having to leave the show..
Jack should be more humble and less of a wanna be highschool cheerleader. PS.. just because you think you're pretty does not mean everyone else thinks so..

when i 1st looked at the pic of Jack in his undies. I thought.. he looks more like a hooker than an actual designer.. or even a wanna be designer.

I did like Jack but I cant stand the fact that he is badmouthing Chris...and what for? Yes he was eliminated but it isnt his fault you got MRSA and had to leave the show. I lost all respect for Jack now.

oh, my, 1:09 AM.

Wow, before reading this I was Jack's biggest fan. Now he is a nobody to me. This is very disappointing.

I can't imagine why Jack would think anyone CARES who hangs out with who. I sure don't.

I pray Chris wins this competition. He should have won the prom competition, the Tiki Barber competition, and the Hershey's competition.

Jack, you need to either apologize or explain why you said what you said.

I think Jack's personality's pretty shocking to me. Though I would think that it would be unfair if Chris gets to final three. Oh gosh.

"spiral jacobs said: Did Mother Teresa do an interview for the Advocate with accompanying booty shot dissing on the bitches in her order?"

I don't know, but that would have been a scoop for the Advocate if she had. Of course, we'd be commenting about that damn tablecloth she wears & would it kill her to use a little moisturizer.

But beyond that, someone else mentioned that it was interesting to see how the tone had changed after jack posted. It did. People who didn't realize that he read this blog before, started throwing in anonymous comments meant to seriously hurt him, in the hopes that he would see them. Stupid.

Personally, I miss the informed and intelligently snarky conversation we had here before tourist season.

So he went into the show expecting to be the prettiest (Rami threw cold water on that one) and the most liked (Chris sat on that one) and now he's left a bitter queen trying to scrape together a "reality" career while Rami goes back to his successful business and superior hotness.

I can't understand people who say that Jay is bitchy in a funny way. I've always thought that Jay was just an ass. And a bitter, washed-up ass at that.

Jack, as someone who's been there and done that - making comments that were WAY misinterpreted and causing a firestorm - I can only say hang in there. I have the same kind of sense of humor as you, and I struggle to remember that it DOES NOT TRANSLATE WELL to print, email, etc.

The other designers seemed honestly sad when you had to go, Tim seemed distraught (I think he thought you had a real shot) and I was crying for you. A lot of us were, if you go back and read TLo's post about it. Many, many people were genuinely sad.

There are a lot of new people on this blog lately, all posting anonymously which gives them free rein to try to hurt other people. Don't pay any attention.

All the best,

Anne

PS - we do know this is Jack, right? Otherwise I'm going to look kind of stupid! :)

I'm guessing Chris and Rami did the unthinkable: they didn't drool over Jack, hence Jack's comments. In the space of 2 weeks I saw Jack and Chris at two events (Jack: Armani Exchange holiday party in Chelsea; Chris: Kiki and Herb at Carnegie). Jack swept in, stood conspicuously, swept the room with his eyes waiting for people to notice him (I've seen Malan position himself at an event so people run into him, but it was charming). Chris moved through the crowd and graciously accepted a few comments (it was the night his 'return' was airing, and he would have known that). Woe to those who do not acknowledge the attractive one.

I just pray that Jack has stopped reading these comments.
While one may argue whether or not the comments are deserved, I have a feeling that one mary can only take so much, before diving into a box of wine and a copy of "Dear God, It's Me Margaret" before falling asleep in their own tears.

Bless his heart.

Does anyone think that Jack is anything but really, really icky?

I rest my case. Who would you rather hang out with? The fun guy at Kiki and Herb or the icky guy at the AE party?

I called it at the beginning of the season and got nothing but crap for it. Jack is a bitter, stuck up queen.

So once again: Jack. Please. Go. Away.

He did the Advocate article MONTHS ago? While the show's extreme non-disclosure clause was in effect?

I'm beginning to understand why so many people knew he was going to leave the show, and during which episode. Apparently Jack has been shooting his mouth off for months.

From what I understand, most of the other interviews are done within a day or so of their publication, after the show has aired and everyone knows what happened. The Bravo blogs are different as they are controlled by the company producing the show.

The contestants aren't supposed to talk to ANYone about ANY aspect of the show in advance of the airing of the episode in question. So if this is really Jack posting, and he really talked to the Advocate "months" ago, he is in serious violation of his agreement with the Weinsteins and Bravo.

Delurking to play devil's advocate for a second. Im sure that Bravo edits the clips of the designers according to the "character" they want to portray on the show. They have a TV show to sell. Maybe Jack is thrown off by the way the PR4 experience is being portrayed on air versus his personal experience with the designers and the show this season. For all we know, Christian and Victorya, who have gotten the more controversial, not exactly warm and fuzzy edits, were really sweet and supportive of Jack and his unfortunately timed illness, while Chris, the person who benefitted from Jack's bad luck, could have been very cold and uncaring about taking Jack's place under those circumstances. He could have said...Oh well, too bad, Jack, but yay for me! Yeah, Jack seems bitter in that interview, and he should have kept quiet to avoid this kind of response, but to be fair, we have no idea exactly why he's bitter, really. He doesn't exactly spell it out in plain language. So we are left with a lot of speculation and random quotes to piece together to form an opinion. It's entirely possible that something else went down behind the scenes that we don't know about.

"Yeah, Jack seems bitter in that interview, and he should have kept quiet to avoid this kind of response, but to be fair, we have no idea exactly why he's bitter, really."

You can have any feeling you want, including jealousy, bitterness, and sadness. The way you choose to express them is the issue here. While Jack may be totally justified in his own mind in badmouthing Chris, it comes off as small, petty, mean-spirited sniping for irrationally personal reasons. Would YOU want to work with him, knowing he talks smack about his co-workers in a public forum like this? I wouldn't.

What I don't get (among lotsa things) is why he'd be pissy about the way PR showed how he left.

They devoted quite a chunk of the pre-runway and first-day segment to him and his medical problem and departure.

Chris, they just kinda tossed into the swirl and he had to sink or swim (and stay up late) with no chance that we know of to meet his model first. Then Chris faded from the episode while the other designers were creating and going on about how they responded to Jack's departure.

The Resurrection of Chris didn't seem to me to out-drama the Jackobean Period of the show.

In fuzzy fact, it seemed to spend more time on Jack's departure than on Keith's and, frankly, from a purely snarky entertainment value, a jackass being tossed for cheating is more TV-worthy than an overeager preener leaving for a valid medical reason (unless it was a really embarrassing medical reason. Yeah. That would have made up some leverage).

I'm flummoxed. Did Jack sort of expect the episode to become The All About Jack Show?

He'e SOOO angry and yes I agree with everyone bitter.
It is very unbecoming. He's coming off very childish and seems jealous like a highschool girl.

i don't buy Jack.
he knocked everyone including Jay and Bravo.
he seems like one of those guys that gets super upset if all the attention is not on him.

I wonder if the star tattoos on his elbows were make-up or if he got them after he left PR. They are tacky as all hell, in any case.

That surprises no one. AMIRITE?

Oh for goodness sakes, Jack, shut up. Please. Malan was out in the second challenge last year and he managed to pull together a collection for Fashion Week. He's got a line out now and is very successful.

And he has nothing but nice things to say about everyone.

Jay McCarroll won PR Season 1 and look how hard he's struggled to get his career up and running. PR is not a guarantee to success by any stretch of the imagination.

You got your fame, you're in the new Sex in the City movie, you're dating a hot chef...start enjoying life and quit the sour graps.

Didn't like Mark on the first episode of this season. Didn't like him on his last episode this season. REALLY don't like him now.

Give me more Chris and less Jack any day. Mark, baby, you ain't that attractive. You may have been back in the day, but Mr. Gravity has not been kind to you.

Chris probably doesn't hang out with the four of you because... well... YOU ARE THERE, Mr. Mark.

Marky Baby, go lip sync something from FLASHDANCE and get the Hell away from me.

P.S. Is Mark still dating the Chicago guy from TOP CHEF? Cause if he is, I'm probably going to run into Mark McBitchyPants here in the Windy City and I'll want to be sure I have my pepper spray with me at all times.

Hee hee, Jack, you did not entertain me during the show; but reading all these was awesome! Great comments!

Next time think before opening your big mouth. One more thing: Grow up!
